The room was small but modern and perfect for a few nights stay to be tourists in Melbourne. Inexpensive but had everything you need. The bathroom was compact but the shower was great with a rain shower head and plenty of hot water. There was no noise from the street. We were given a complementary small bottle of wine for each night of our stay. There was tea and coffee makings in the room. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. It was close to Carlton for delicious Italian dinners, trams, Victoria Market, a short walk to the heart of the city, the State Library and all the interesting laneways. We ate at the Docklands one night and it was easy getting a tram back. If you are travelling with lots of luggage or like to spend hours and hours in your room, maybe look elsewhere. We would definitely stay again.

I needed just a 1 night stay in Melbourne, I found Ibis Swanston St- This was a great choice, the room was not overly large, but hey when you're visiting Melbourne you won't be in the room for long, the check-in was easy, the staff were very friendly, more about the room - it was quiet, the bed was very very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. there is a kettle with tea and instant coffee ( I didn't need to use). Position is great step outside and either walk 100m left or right and the tram is there, they are very frequent and any amount of trams will take you wherever you need to go, it is also a very easy walk into the CBD. There is a cafe and a restaurant on the ground floor - sorry I didn't get anything from either so can't leave comment about them. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone who is looking for a great location and clean and tidy place to stay. Lastly the price, check out the deals and you'll be surprised . Thanks Ibis Swanson Street Melbourne, I will return

Basic hotel providing basic needs But frustrations like no light switches by bed side and cheap tap on shower so difficult to get temperature right Also long queues at reception despite other staff coming and going to back office area not looking to pitch in and help In saying that location was good and my dealings with staff when I got to front of queue were good

Front Desk Manager was very rude and unpleasant. No phone or mini refrigerator in the room. Location is not nice part of city. Pre-paid Breakfast was very bad. No fresh Fruits or any kind. Room was very cold.

Our stay started well, with the lady on reception letting us check in about an hour early. From then on, our experience was largely negative. Room key did not work. Room safe could not be locked. Laundry not available. Buffet breakfast not available, and we were offered a very poor substitute. Our experience improved on our last day, but not enough to give a good rating overall. This is the second survey I've been asked to do within four days of our stay.

Great location in Carlton with plenty of restaurants all around. Room was exactly what you expect when booking an Ibis room - tidy and functional. Staff were friendly and happy to assist in whatever you asked of them.

The room was clean with a contemporary interior and very small. The room had no carpet, no cupboard and no ironing board and iron. Clothes could be hung on a rail attached to the wall with about six permanent coat hangers. The TV only provided free to air TV and the Wi-Fi was painfully slow. The bathroom was also clean and very small. The view out of my window was of a wall, about 6m away, filled with windows from other rooms of the hotel, letting natural light in came with a sense of loss of privacy. I had purchased the "breakfast for $1/night extra, only to find that the choices available at the café were from a separate menu and did not include a beverage. For $1 you get something but don't expect a continental breakfast. If all you want is a bed, in a clean room, in a convenient location, this is a good choice.

The overall standard of the Ibis Hotel Swanston Street Melbourne was excellent, good room, cleanliness, comfort, value etc, until it came to the breakfast. This was offered as 'a buffet' in the attached cafe Wokks. It turned out to be a few slices of bread and a toaster, and precious little else. On complaining I was told that 'the owner had said as there were only a few customers that morning not to bother with anything else'. This was a total rip-off, as I had paid for breakfast as part of the room package, and showed nothing but contempt for Ibis/Accor customers, especially those, like me, who remain loyal to this brand and make a point of staying in Ibis/Accor hotels. Never book your room to include the 'non-existent' breakfast 'offered' by the cheapskate owner of this Ibis Hotel. Better still, use another hotel in Melbourne. Hit this owner where it hurts - in the pocket!!! I will not be returning!! A disgrace to the otherwise excellent Ibis brand!!

i arrived at night for my family and found very personal greetings card prepared also signed by all staff,,, very personal touch and probably this is one of the cleanest accor property in the world so far. all team in front desk are very helpful and also in restaurant,no complaint and outstanding services.. Thanks so much

Good location, convenient rooms and beds, badhroom. Loundry and Lounge are nice. Reception is very good, helpful and friendly staff! Forget about breakfast. Sorry but you canot call this a breakfast. And when you go to the bar they keep the door open and it get's very cold. I was told that the doors have to stay open because of the smoke from the kitchen...

Nice entry lobby with friendly staff. Room was clean and modern but too small. We had a very comfortable bed with good view. No phone in the room to contact reception is a big mistake.Location was good with a tram outside the door.

I stayed at the hotel recently for business and chose it primarily on price and location. The room itself was fine - modern and clean, although rather small. The bathroom, while also nice and modern, was a full open tiled room with just a shower curtain - it felt like a stylish hospital bathroom. Overall I couldn't really fault things, although I had a breakfast experience much like many others, which disappointed me. I wasn't given a voucher at check in - but was rather pointed in the direction of the closed café. That caused some wasted time next morning as I first lined up to order with others in the morning rush, only to be told to go and see the hotel reception again. Then once I had the magic voucher, what was already a strange menu of Asian inspired western breakfast items, got very small as I was told "these are the hotel breakfast choices" But this stage I could only laugh as I was told an egg would cost $1 extra, and my large flat white coffee would cost me $2 extra - apparently the stock coffee was 1980's plunger style or something..... Whilst I appreciate that the café operations are out of the direct control of the hotel, the reality is that as soon as the hotel points its guests to the café, it becomes a (poor) reflection back on the hotel. Overall, the hotel was fine for the price - just don't expect a nice standard hotel breakfast.

Small rooms but comfortable and you get what you pay for. Clean room, nice bed, no fridge but not a problem for a cheap overnight stay in Melbourne. Breakfast included which was limited menu but a yummy bacon and egg sandwich was perfect

The breakfast menu lacking as very limited choices and no cereal options from prepaid vouchers. The room was small and had no fridge or microwave. The room was neat and clean. Limited choice of welcome drink.

Rooms are very small but modern, very clean and very comfortable. Walkable to CBD. Parking is tricky. Can't be pre-booked and not many spots available. We had to park out front and feed meter at 7.15am (thus losing our sleep in). Breakfast is ordinary too. Wouldn't bother with it.

Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms spotless. I forgot my good pair of shoes and only had runners on. I had to go to the casino that night in the suit and it was to late to buy shoes anywhere. The staff went out of their way to provide me with a pair of shoes for the night.

Quiet and clean room with good mattress. Free Wi-Fi which is very important to business people. Location is great with tram stopping right in front of the hotel. Cafes and restaurants are available close to the hotel . Will stay there again .

The room was very clean and well maintained, a bit on the small side but that was oK for my requirements. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is very handy for the CBD and for using trams for getting about.

We arrived at the hotel after the two overnight flights from Glasgow hoping that we could leave our luggage and go into Melbourne until our room was ready. Much to our delight, ee Werner off erend a choice of rooms straight away so we we're able to shower and change clothes before visiting Melbourne. The hotel was only a short walk from the CBD so was an excellent choice.

We stayed a couple of nights. the room was reasonably small, but adequate. Close to Lyon, Melbourne uni and Victoria market. The hallways could have done with a clean. The first night we were woken from a deep sleep by a staff member knocking on the door wanting to know who we were...very strange.
