This was the first time my husband & I have visited Manchester and the hotel was very accessible from Piccadilly on foot. The staff were very helpful and cheerful which made is easy to approach them if needed. The room was nice- the decor is weather/ rain themed. The bed was comfortable and heating worked well (which was great since the cold winds and snow returned). There is a simple selection for breakfast which gets replenished. Plenty of restaurants & supermarkets all round the hotel. The tram stops and the tourist information centre are diagonally opposite the road. Lovely hotel which my husband & I look forward to returning to in the future.

My room was ready for my early check in, lovely & clean room & bathroom. Room wasn’t overly large but I had everything that I needed, kettle, tv, good shower! Bed & pillows lovely & comfy. Looking forward to next stay 😀

We stayed here for short city break. The location was outstanding. The staff were excellent. The room was compact but everything you needed for an overnight stay. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. There was no noose from the road or surrounding rooms. It was a great find! Thank you so much. We will definitely head back.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, great décor in the public rooms and bedrooms. The hotel is in a convenient location close to Piccadilly Gardens, good for shopping. Only a short walk to the theatres in the Oxford Road area and is approximately 1mile from the Manchester Arena.

the room seemed like it’s not be in use for a while so it was cleaned. So the floor was dusty, the bathroom floor dusty and dirty I couldn’t walk barefoot. The beddings were dusty too and the lit area of the headrest has dust all over. My experience this time around wasn’t encouraging.

Good location. Only a few minutes away from Piccadilly Station. Across the road from restaurants. Down the road from China town. Bars and cafes within a few hundred yards. Shops literally a stone's throw away. Hotel is modern and clean. Staff are great. Rooms are on the small side but nicely decorated. Breakfast is served in the Jamboree bar and is fairly good for the price. Well worth a visit to this hotel.

Has to be one of the most unusual hotels around, but the quirkiness really works! Wonky mirrors in the room (we were in the windy section!!) just adds that little something and great, alert staff who are keen to please if you look a little lost!! So good, were returning in June - a central hotel at a very decent price.

Amazing location, friendly staff and great restaurant Bed was very comfortable, clean room/shower and good coffee Sleep was a bot disturbed with the noise from bars/reataurants emptying their recycling bins

Small, poorly designed rooms meant an uncomfortable stay with a paltry breakfast to match. Even the greeting and goodbye was lukewarm. At least it was central and accessible so all was not list at a price of £68

Excellent location. within walking distance to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station, Shopping Districts, Restaurants, Football Museum, Cathedral. We arrived Manchester early and just wanted to drop our bags with the hotel before going for our tour. Hotel charge 1 pound per luggage to keep the bags till we return in the evening to check in. Continental Breakfast provided. The spread of food was simple.

I was made to feel at home and welcome, staff members willing to assist all the time. Definitely recommend this branch of ibis to my friends, family and colleagues for pleasant stay in Manchester. Thanks

This place is a hidden gem! Its got quirky interiors and and an outstanding front. The building is easy to get to from the Train and Tram Stations. Being a centre of town property everything is within a short walk away. So great location both for business meetings and pleasure. The hotel itself has great 'person' service. The check-in and out was swift, extra amenity requests fulfilled and the staff are polite and smiling! The hotel is clean and sufficient for a single or couple traveller. I feel however, may be a family room may be cramped -though I did not get to see one. Breakfast - included in my tariff - was plentiful though a little let down. May be increase a warm variety to the buffet - there was enough staff around, so I think it could be manned. It was a perfect getaway for me and met all my needs. Definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Manchester.

Turned up early at 12.00 expecting to leave luggage with reception until normal check-in time, but informed that room already available. However, I would have to pay £10 for the priviledge of using it 'early' ! The next day when checking out early I was told I had to pay £1 for the use of their luggage store room. If margins are that tight, just add another £1 to the room rate. Luckily, the rest of the stay was very, very good. The room was a reasonable size with all facilities provided and even an iron and ironing board. Extremely comfortable bed and lovely walk-in rain shower. Decent budffet breakfast. Couldn't fault the actual accommodation and the location was perfect.

Excellent location, very clean & well appointed room on 4th floor. Only draw backs were our room was close to corridor/fire door which when used caused our room door to rattle making us think someone was trying to enter our room. Sleep quality spoilt by by another guest setting off the fire alarm at 01.00am!! on Saturday morning

The pros: the rooms are fairly comfortable, the wifi is free and reliable, and the proximity to Manchester Picadilly is convenient. The cons: because the hotel is strict about not allowing early check-ins, there's usually a huge queue at 2:00 — and because there's not actually a reception desk, the lobby becomes a bit nuts. If you want to check your bags before check-in or after check-out, they charge a pound per item. And the restaurant/bar associated with the hotel plays very loud music until 2am on weekends, so if you have a room on the second floor above the bar, you can forget about falling asleep until early in the morning. (The hotel did offer to change my room, but that too was more of a hassle than it should have been.)

Good value hotel in excellent location, with really friendly and helpful staff. The room was small, but a very comfortable bed, resulting in a good night's sleep. Excellent shower and soft towels. Basic, help yourself breakfast, but choices adequate and food good. Nice feel about the whole hotel.

What a very bizarre hotel and not what I expected nor wanted. Very unusual foyer with over sized deck chairs and teddies and umbrellas. A member of staff at a counter waiting to check you in, seemed like some kind of holiday camp. The style overall was very quirky, different and an eye opener. Room doors had pictures on (covering basic doors) showing traditional doors with 'grooves'. The rooms had umbrella paintings and rain drops on the walls. All a bit cheap and shabby. The room tiny and basic. The room doors didn't seem that sturdy or safe, the windows didn't seem to stop the noise from the out side coming in. Breakfast was shocking. Continental was stretching the truth. I would never stay here again. But I am sure others may think its ok. What a shame as its such a great building..

we booked the IBIS styles hotel because of thr recent reft and location- we were not dissappointed- the hotel is very clean and modern- the breakfast was help yourself continental style- plenty to choose with very attentative staff who kept the wholw breakfast area filed and clean . Rooms - we had a Queens size was very good and a really good walk in shower with toiletries. We would stay here again as the location is great and the hotel excellent - thankyou

A great place to stay. Good value for money and easy access both by car (cheap car park nearby) and train. Newly refurbished and funky design. Comfortable rooms, bar & restaurant and friendly and helpful staff.

This is a very unique hotel located 5 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station, with shops and restaurants all very close by. The decor is smart and somewhat striking. The rooms were cleaned and well equipped. The reception desk had no computer, just a friendly staff checking you in on their phone, and then showing you to your room. The bathroom was rather tight, The view from the bedroom was disappointing, as you only see office blocks. Breakfast was very reasonable, but only until 9am when you have less choice from the continental selection. However, this hotel does put a smile on your face once you walk in.

The rooms at the ibis Styles Portland Hotel have been designed to capture the very best of each season in myriad imaginative ways. The Sunshine Room evokes warm, sunny days with its bright yellow door and light blue walls; the Raindrop Room features teardrop lights and raindrop hangers; the Breezy Room, with its earthy prints and leaf pattern floors, brings to mind autumn walks in the woods. Guests can take a selfie under the giant umbrella in the lift, check the latest forecast on the staircase and even see their face in the cloud mirror in the bathroom.

Sheltering under a shared umbrella, an exhilarating walk on a windswept moor, feeling the warm spring sun on your face; these cherished sensations have inspired our designers to create a quirky, fun environment that truly brings to life the old adage that every cloud has a silver lining. From umbrellas suspended from the ceiling to cloud tables, you can enjoy the Great British weather without ever stepping foot outside.

From the moment you're greeted by the giant pair of sunglasses on the front of the hotel, you'll know you're in for a special stay in Manchester. Once inside, giant umbrellas hanging from the ceiling of the lobby will shield you from the elements as you grab your room key.
