I stayed for two nights midweek and booked a large queen room. I was allocated an accessible room which initially I wanted to change, but on seeing the alternative offered I decided to stay put. The room itself is stylish in a budget sort of way and the enormous accessible bathroom was great. A few niggles though. The secondary glazing wouldn't close because of a screw jammed in the runner. I got a screwdriver from a member of staff and sorted it myself. The room was then silent in terms of street noise. The air conditioning was good but intermittently noisy. No spoons in the room just wooden sticks which seems wasteful. The restaurant looks very inviting, but the food was if a poor standard. I pity the squid that died for my calamari, it died in vain. The Mexican burger was tasty but as thin as a pancake. The Eton Mess was an absolute crime of piles of squirty cream and overly sweet strawberry coulis. I ate the fresh strawberries on top and literally left everything else. I couldn't charge my meal to the room either despite registering my credit card at check in which is basically the point of a hotel restaurant. In summary, the rooms are fine, the location is great but avoid the restaurant.

Hello IBIS Styles Administration team, I have booked a room in Ibis Styles manchester Portland Hotel from 12th September 2017 till 19th September 2017 for 8 nights. On 3rd September the hotel have charged GBP 709.00 to my credit card towards hotel stay for 8 nights. But to my surprise, when we checked in on 12th September, the hotel reception informed me that payment is not done and asked me to make the payment again on that night when I checked in. In the middle of the night, I don't want to argue with the reception even though I have proof that I have already made the payments to the hotel and since I belive IBIS group of hotels and sure that the hotel will find their mistake one day and take corrective actions, I again made the payment on 12th September. In the next couple of days the hotel staff found out the mistake of double charging me and refund the extra charging amount to me. I just want to high light to the IBIS management that this actions of charging me additionally on that night have put lot of pressure on me and put me in a very uncomfortable way dealing with IBIS hotel. I been a regular IBIS hotel staying tourist and this incident have shaken my belief/trust on IBIS hotel. I await your response and remedial action on this issue happened to me and my family with one of your IBIS hotels.

this hotel is centrally located so you have access to all attractions of the city. Very international crowd. Been recently renovated and it is visible. The food at the restaurant is good. Overall great value for money.

A well situated hotel, but feels claustrophobic. The corridors are narrow not good for a disabled person, the hat box did not fit through the room door unless on its side. In the morning it was easier to walk down from the 5th floor than wait for one of the two six person lifts to come. When I had booked nearly a year ago before its transformation I had thought there was a cooked breakfast. it was only a buffet of fairly ordinary standards compared to most of the Accor group hotels.

We had a great stay, it's in a fantastic location to access the Northern Quarter and the Warehouse Project. We didn't stay for the breakfast but the bar/dining area looked good. The hotel is very quirky on decoration which sets it apart from other budget hotels. Clean bedroom and bathroom with good water pressure, they don't replace the soap/shower gel every time which we liked, we hate to see plastic waste. The only negative was that there was a very loud group of girls on our floor that we could hear shrieking, it felt like the walls were made of paper.

The hotel is much improved since refurbishment as an Ibis Styles, and represents very good value for Manchester city centre. Rooms are a bit on the small side but clean and perfectly adequate, with tea/coffee making facilities, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Decor is modern and quirky. Breakfast was included, this was a cold buffet only but the items were good quality.

Great clean room in a new hotel with fun decorations, friendly staff, comfortable bed and fantastic breakfast. Excellent location and seamless check-in/out. Fabulous value for money and I would definitely recommend to anyone else travelling to Manchester--in fact, I already have!

I stayed in the Ibis Hotel early September and asked why I had no loyalty points for my stay end of June this year , despite providing my membership at the check in . I was told it was because I booked on . So no loyalty from Accor for me choosing one of their hotels . My most recent September stay was 3 nights but they only credit me for 2 nights ( booked through the Accor web page ) . The air conditioning unit was useless also , only chills , no heat . Maybe it's back to Holiday Inn / Express loyalty .

The decor differentiates this from other hotels. Although central for walking to the city's facilities, access by car was difficult (requiring driving through bus / taxi only roads - I think!). Absence of shelves in the room means having to live out of a suitcase. Disappointing not to have a secure room safe - a necessity offered by most other hotels these days. Staff friendly and helpful. But, last night dinner ruined by untrained staff being used, requiring manager to be summoned.

I meet a very nice staff and I was pleased to discover a beautiful room, very clean with good size. The bathroom was cosy and very clean. Everything is new. The breakfast was good. The check-in and check-out could be online. This is a plus. I received a two- course dinner bonus and I like this very much. The price was fair and the location is amaizing. I will come back.

This hotel is fantastic for a break in Manchester sit is located in the Picadilly area and close to everything Manchester has to offer all within easy walking distance. The price is good and is all inclusive with a fab continental style breakfast included. The rooms are lovely and fresh with vibrant decor. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when we return to Manchester

Overall was a great experience , nice location as close to pride event , train station , and shopping centre ... the staff were friendly and polite. I did write down that it was mine and my partners 2nd year anniversary but I'm guessing as a company you don't put a little extra for special dates :) ... would recommend this to friends .

Second stay here - yet another fantastic stay! Breakfast was disappointing (only part of the stay which was), ate elsewhere 3 out of 4 days despite the hotel breakfast being included in the room price.

I think the refurbishment with the weather theme ,including the garb worn by the staff uplifts the visitor. It made for an enjoyable stay. The staff proved to be courteous and welcoming especially in the process of registration and leaving.

Hotel recently refurbished, very nice, rooms are small but very modern. Unfortunately It was served continental breakfast. If you are in the UK, they should serve English breakfast. Boiled eggs very cold, kept in the fridge, really bad.

So happy I chose to stay at this hotel and location couldn't have been better! I would definitely stay there again. Really nice room and very good breakfast. My only regret is I could only stay one night. For me a perfect example of what I expect in a hotel.

I had a really great stay at the Ibis Styles, as per the name it was decorated in a stylish weather theme. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The only problem was that despite being put in a back room (to be quieter for my business trip) I was awoken every morning by the bin men. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety. The room was immaculate and comfy, I also liked the eco-friendly touches.

The only negative comment is that it did not say on the website that it was continental breakfast just that breakfast was included, so little disappointing for us as we had a long journey going down South and only a light breakfast available.

This place is a fun place to stay. Like other ibis Styles hotel the theme for Manchester was the weather. From the moment you go in being greeted with umbrellas, and enormous deckchairs and sunglasses you smile. We had a twin room on the third floor. Small but very adequate. Good security to get in the lift which also had a theme - " clouds" or "cats and dogs". to get to your floor Each room door looked like somebody's front door and the carpet was a cobble street with leaves on. Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was quiet from the buzz of Portland Street and Piccadilly Gardens area Breakfast was complimentary mainly cold buffet foods but a good variety Check in was easy as you had a choice of online or face to face. The staff we met were all friendly. Glynn and Kasia were very informative about the other hotels in the Ibis chain and also sorted out my request. Definitely would stop here again

Great hotel, Recently refurbished and the rooms are a good size nice bathrooms. Friendly and helpful check in staff.Lovely food in the restaurant. Great location right next to Piccadilly Square. Would recommend!

Hotel design

The rooms at the ibis Styles Portland Hotel have been designed to capture the very best of each season in myriad imaginative ways. The Sunshine Room evokes warm, sunny days with its bright yellow door and light blue walls; the Raindrop Room features teardrop lights and raindrop hangers; the Breezy Room, with its earthy prints and leaf pattern floors, brings to mind autumn walks in the woods. Guests can take a selfie under the giant umbrella in the lift, check the latest forecast on the staircase and even see their face in the cloud mirror in the bathroom.

Sheltering under a shared umbrella, an exhilarating walk on a windswept moor, feeling the warm spring sun on your face; these cherished sensations have inspired our designers to create a quirky, fun environment that truly brings to life the old adage that every cloud has a silver lining. From umbrellas suspended from the ceiling to cloud tables, you can enjoy the Great British weather without ever stepping foot outside.

From the moment you're greeted by the giant pair of sunglasses on the front of the hotel, you'll know you're in for a special stay in Manchester. Once inside, giant umbrellas hanging from the ceiling of the lobby will shield you from the elements as you grab your room key. Our central location makes us an ideal base for exploring the sights and sounds of Manchester. Or simply stay and enjoy our lively bar and first class restaurant.
