I am quite impressed with the exterior and also the building as I love colors and indeed Ibis Styles provide that vibrant and exciting colors. I stayed in L6 for a night, I love how they have even designed the flooring with words and full of colors even in the comfort of the room itself. The reservation team had done a good job by fulfilling all my request of having rooms further away from lobby, high floors and stuffs. Another kudos point is that, THE BED WAS SOOOO COMFORTABLE!!! Above all, the bedroom was well made up, could see that the housekeeping have made lots of effort in that. What really turn me off was the staffs and the table setting at the restaurant. Firstly, not sure whose idea was it to put ALL tables together that forms more than 10 pax seats rows of tables and thinking that guests would make that effort to shift themselves to the middle. As if that was their most brillant idea that they could come up with in the setting. This have left many available tables with no takers. Secondly, the staffs were really passive. I have no idea what the hell they are doing standing around instead of clearing the tables at the restaurant after guests have left the table. The waitress were close to doing nothing, and i even need to spent at least waving for 1 minute before anyone see me asking for help. They should be train with more initiative, because the company simply didn't hire them to be a furniture.
Needs lots attention to service, poor buffet presentations and breakfast poor food quality. No appetite. I have stay in 2-3 stars hotels around the region and they can produce good quality breakfast but why not Ibis Batam. This is supposed to be an international chain hotel with international experience.
The staff were polite and helpful, rooms clean, modern designed and well equipped. Breakfast serving and variety sufficient but need to improve the coffee quality for both ready brewed and machine dispenser. The water for shower need to be improve too as the hot and cold water was not consistance. Otherwse all okay.
This is a relatively new hotel with very nice design but located in an area with nothing for the average tourist to do unless they hop onto a taxi. However the taxi at the hotel is not cheap, charging 60-80k for a trip to a shopping mall. A GO-JEK would cost between 10-20k but not everybody know about it or have downloaded the app. Shuttle service is available 3 times a day to Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall but return trip is on your own. Hotel should also provide shuttle service for return trip at about 3 hours later like some other hotels is Batam do. The water the bathroom goes from hot to cold which is very frustrating and the water pressure is also weak. The gym is small with a few equipment but there was no need to wait as not many people use the gym. However the gym should provide towel and water for users. Breakfast at the restaurant is average and can be quite busy at times. At this price, I have no complaint on the breakfast choice but hygiene also need improvement, I witness two employees, one female and one male, both in green T shirts handling and cutting bread with their bare hands. They should have used disposable gloves and tongs to handle the breads. What is worse is that the man was also seen handling empty plates and using a cloth to wipe the food counter and this same hands were used to handling breads without gloves. Another lady, in black, was seen bringing out some burgers and she was handling them with disposable gloves therefore this is probably a disciplinary issue. All these deficiencies can be corrected and I will still book this hotel in the future even though it is out of the way as I use GO-JEK. At least I will be using Ibis until Novotel reopens after upgrading.
I had check in for a weekend stay. When i reach my room , my toilet door is unable to close. After fixing for almost half hour. the maintenance staff is unable to fixed it. Then we were change to another room. To my surprised, the new room was blank empty and stale air. There is no chair or sofa in the room and also hand soap is not given. I called front desk and requested for it. They mentioned they have to seek for approval. We waited for another half hour. Then i went to front desk and request again, reply that they will get it solved. I went out and came back an hour later. Nothing had been done. I call and demanded to action. After half hour, a sofa came in but still not soap. I had ask the staff to run again to get the soap. Until i check out, there is no apology or any welcome fruit platter offer to us despite I am a gold member. I truly hope this will not happen again for all my future stay.
The hotel is new, clean and comfy. They serve great breakfast buffet too. The only hind side is the location. You will need a taxi service to reach Nogaya Hill Shopping Centre. It would be great if they can provide free shuttle service to and fro Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre. Overall, was very satisfied with the hotel.
Used to be good when it's newly opened earlier in the year. But recently the quality is gone south. There were a couple of flies in the room... Big one. I have to kill them myself. There were stains on the pillow case as well. I think ibis batam have to put in more effort. Cleanliness and hygiene is fundamental.
Service was almost zero to none. Host at the restaurant was always on her phone and does not even acknowledge guest. The bed in the room was really comfortable though! We really liked the style of the room too. However, the aircon in the room was never cold enough, even after the maintenance guy came to look at it. The hot water in the room is also very inconsistent.
Booked 3D2N with redemption of points. Check-in was not fast, took a while to do the point deduction, and reception almost forgot to return us the change in cash. We also didn't receive info on wifi login, breakfast, free dining voucher upon check in. Design and comfort were good, though husband complained it was quite dusty. We saw the pool water was really .. unusable, but I guess the staff knew better and cleaned up right before the surge of guests arrived. Breakfast spread was splendid, had my favourite bubur ayam! Lots of local and international spread, extremely value for money. Just to add, room service was reasonably priced and very yummy too. You just need to get hold of the menu (not in the room, so just call). Shuttle bus was convenient but we wished there was a return ride for the 6pm slot. Perhaps next visit? ;) Lift is by touch activation, instead of usual button. Took us a while to figure THE way to touch.
Room was huge separated with a living area, 2 queen beds, huge bathroom with a bathtub and a super big balcony! The shower gel & shampoo provided smells really good, me and my girlfriends love it! Breakfast spread was good but the coffee from the coffee machine was diluted. Had double portion of their Mee Rebus, it was really good. Did the Massage with body scrub after breakfast and it was really good. I check-out the hotel with baby skin. Haha The only bad thing is we heard a man chanting/screaming, voice came from outside of the balcony at around 4am. It was scary! We dare not open our eyes and waited almost 30mins before everything went peaceful again. We checked with the reception the next morning asking if people do their prayers at 4am and they advise that they usually don't. That left our brains go wild with imagination...
the environment not bad but far away from town. Breakfast not too bad., there is one dish black glutinous rice did not wash properly alot of sand inform staff seems like staff don't bother, ALa CAT dish manual there is not much variety.
Hotel looks nice maybe because its still new. But there are some shortcomings that I felt like there is no tissues paper in the toilet and I had to asked, the floor looks not cleaned on the 2nd day, the coffee powder was still on the shelf for drinks, the compliments water were not in the room too on the 2nd day and I had to ask the receptionist.
For a start, I got a complimentary upgrade without even asking for one although being a gold card member I could have done so. I have stayed in Ibis styles/Ibis in Malaysia, Indonesia and China but this in Batam probably the best in term of hotel facilities are concern. Good Variety of choices too for breakfast.
