My stay here was very pleasant indeed, the reception staff was very polite and helpful. Love the fact that breakfast was also included. Only things that I would suggest is maybe room service and better door keys as we happend to have a bit of difficulty with them.

A decent hotel close to Town center and other shopping place. Located close to different types of cuisine places. Helpful staff to assist guests. Cleaning staff were really good and ensured clean and neat room.

We've stayed here before, and the hotel is in an ideal location for Reading. The staff are friendly, and attentive. The rooms are very nice. Breakfast is very enjoyable. All seemed okay, except for some immature university students who decided to have a loud conversation in the corridor (twice) in the early hours of the morning, rather than in a room, or downstairs on the ground floor. It was probably also one of them who set off the fire alarm for a short time.

This is a really excellent place to stay in terms of standard of accommodation, attitude and helpfulness of the staff, and value for money. Very good breakfast! Car parking available. Easy access to Reading town centre and further afield by public transport.

Friendly welcome and a choice of rooms given by receptionist. Took their advice and had the quietest room with a bonus of double bed. Shortly after being in the room the main (including bathroom) lighting failed. Went to reception, explained problem and was quickly offered another room - with apologies that it would be a twin. I was promised that I would be contacted with an explanation - impressively I was! Rate included continental breakfast so I was surprised to see (very welcome) hot options of bacon, scrambled eggs and beans. All in all a great value for money stay.

The hotel was well situated for shopping, busses etc and easy to find I was not overly impressed at having to pay to park the car in the car park Room was clean and the beds were comfortable The only let down was the breakfast it was like the food had been there for days reheated as per demand and not much of a selection The staff were pleasant and helpful reception clean and well equipped with beverages Will consider using the hotel in the future

I enjoyed my stay as always. I knew that I could count on a comfortable bed and an immaculately clean room. There was plenty to eat for breakfast. The receptionists were attentive and hepful. A bargain price and good parking facilities. It certainly met all my expectations.

It's an affordable room at short notice when others are too expensive. Main drawback is breakfast finishes too early on Sunday morning. I have stayed there twice but never been up for breakfast. Also don't let them charge you extra for parking if you arrive on foot.

Our 2 night stay was our first to an Ibis hotel and we will definitely come back. We had a warm and friendly welcome. Our room was very clean and well appointed. But best of all was the self service breakfast which was plentiful and with good choices.

This is a lovely hotel but is badly let down by the attitude of the staff Don't rely on card machine to work as i believe their is major problems with it Paid cash but attitude from staff was disgusting although they knew there was a problem Use hotel for business regularly

The reservation was made by someone else on behalf of me. I drove 7 hours from Edinburgh, and when at the reception desk was told that my reservation was booked for 3 days later. I was not happy that the person who made the reservation got it wrong, but what was extremely dissatisfying was how Ibis handled my circumstance. I only needed a room for 1-night and the Ibis individual on hand was so unhelpful and unwilling to look into option of carrying over the reservation. I was simply told "there's no rooms left"....Considering I saw a couple checking out just prior. So after driving 7 hours, I had to drive around Reading and surrounding areas looking for another hotel. On top of it, I tried to cancel the booking as it was a few days out and I could not even get a refund! Very VERY unhappy at how Ibis has handled this. I will NOT be using ibis again, if this is the type of individuals you employ at the front desk.

This hotel had some very poor reviews in the past but I must say that since Tomasz Michalak had taken over the management the reviews have improved greatly and I must say our room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was very good and plenty of it available, but note as the hotel points out it is not a full English. The parking was fine and there were plenty of spaces. The area is a bit rough , reminds me of the east end of London but I would be wiling to walk along it after dark. All in all much better than expected and good value, well done Tomasz. Oh one comment ...the air conditioning in restauraunt kept belting out warm air at breakfast may want to check this out.

I've been here twice on business. The first time I had a lovely spacious twin room on the second floor. The second time I had a horrid, pokey, squished room on the third floor. Both times I was there for three days and would refuse a room on the top floor in future and deliberately book a twin room as you need space to relax after a day's work. The third floor is the ibis equivalent of a flop house floor. The "complimentary" breakfast - who do they think they're kidding, it' not complimentary, it's included in the price but ibis have taken the opportunity to insult their guests intelligence on arrival. The food is poor. If you like healthy eating, you have to take your own food. There isn't even a bowl of chopped fruit, maybe a couple of apples and a banana lying around with very poor quality Muselli. As for parking, that's not complimentary! I'd rather have the option of not paying for the appalling breakfast and go with complimentary parking. The hotel is south of the rail tracks where the traffic is horrendous. 30 mins for 2.5 miles. Better to stay north of the line if you can. I really cannot recommend eating in the hotel, the food is very poor. The couple of local pubs are no better, so you're in for a trip somewhere. I now stop on the way back from the client premises so I don't have to fight through the worst in-town traffic I've come across. I certainly wouldn't want to live here. One of the client's attendees had been booked into a hotel 11 miles away and took 90 mins getting in! Like many hotels the cleaners tuck the duvet in under the mattress. Who sleeps like that? Nobody does! So you, the guest, have to pull everything out and remake the bed. What is the point in that? Why do I need to do their job? Do it right the first time and not only is it less work making the room up, it's less work for the guest too. Win, win. Why make life more difficult for everyone? Overall, I'd happily stay in one of the second floor twin rooms again but not in one of the horrid little doubles in the roof, that was simply unpleasant. It's acceptable for a business trip if you're in one of the much more spacious twin rooms. If you think healthy eating means skipping butter on your toast, you'll be fine with the food. There are good places to eat but not within a mile of the hotel, so you'll need to drive or cab it to a restaurant.

Great value hotel in Reading. Friendly staff, rooms spotless, nice breakfast, complimentary tea & coffee in the bar. Evening meal if needed. Hard to beat for a short stay & secure parking too. We will definitely be back

staff totally and complete committed to help in any possible way and were always ready to assist, giving directions and being kind and gently, the manager gave the corresponding upgrade so everything outstanding as usual,

highly recommend visiting here, the family room was perfect with a double bed and a sofa bed. The breakfast in the morning is lovely and it's included in your room price. The staff were polite and friendly.

just brilliant words cannot describe our stay nice kind and helpful staff would go back again.very efficient so polite and very transgendered friendly .i would recommend this hotel to anybody especially other transgendered people

We've stayed here once before, and found it fine. This stay was also great. It's quiet at night time, the rooms are good, and breakfast is fantastic. It's ideal for us as we're close to most of our family.

A business as well as family hotel. Plenty space car park for £5 per night. A kids corner and modern looks lobby lounge. Sufficient breakfast menu for family. Not too big family room. The room temperature is well controlled even without in-room temp control. Too high bath tube for kids. Many restaurants nearby, easy to find halal food as well.

A pleasant enough stay but I don't understand why you can't provide free parking for your guests? I understand the need to charge someone who isn't staying at the hotel, but for paying guests. Didn't quite sit well.

Hotel design

You'll discover a broad mix of flooring styles here - from bold geometric carpet shapes, to light woods and textured vinyl. The furniture is a mix of colours, shapes and surfaces, with spray-finished metal stools in yellow and green, curved metal pendant lighting, and fabric egg chairs that you can sink right into. Each of the hotel's 97 bedrooms are kitted out in one of two 'stables' colourways. The first mixes trendy grey and magenta, with a 2 tone textured headboard and brightly edged fabric curtains. The second is a zesty mix of lemons, limes and sky blue. Above the headboard of both is a wall graphic of horses and jockeys racing toward glory.

ibis styles Reading Oxford Road is located in the heart of Reading; just a short trip to both Newbury and Royal Ascot Racecourses. Our designer used these colourful scenes of unmissable racing, crazy hats and colourful headpieces to create a design mix that captures the best of both day-to-day and also special-days.

Unpack your bags, then open your blinkers and take in the room. Head downstairs where you can enjoy a glass of champagne in our own members' enclosure (also known as the bar). From there, check out the mural of horses galloping across the back wall, while the kids meet our resident rocking horse or draw ponies on our mini blackboard. If racing doesn't take your fancy, the hotel is also just a brief canter away from LEGOLAND Windsor, Thorpe Park and the Reading Festival. Whether you're here on a ladies day, a gentleman's jaunt, or for some family fun, brighten up your stay in a hotel that's here to set a happy tone.
