We stayed at the Ibis Hotel Sofia on 8th October 2017 for one night i paid for the room on line with my credit card however when it came to check out the assistant requested i paid for my room i told him i had already paid for my room on line with my credit card he informed me i had not paid and insisted i paid in cash again for the room after further argument i paid again in cash due to urgency of getting to the airport on time for my flight the following day i checked with my on line banking and discovered they had already been paid from my credit card i telephoned the Hotel only to be told i had not paid any more money to them other then by credit card its now in the hands of my credit card company
Arrived at airport at 3am after a delayed flight. Hotel very convenient and a pleasant stay before onward journey in the morning. I have already recommended the hotel to a family member who has since used it for the return journey.
With two of us being partially disabled and arriving at the airport at 2am I had pre warned the hotel when I booked and again when I left the car. Did it do any good? No! It took numerous phone calls all answered by the Bulgarian phone system telling me that the caller wasn't answering. Eventually after some 25 minutes the phone was answered (no airport taxi would take us). The receptionist was on the verge of being rude and we still waited 15 minutes for the minibus to arrive. I did consider complaining, but having previously complained about food and dirty tables at breakfast I just couldn't be bothered. I've booked Best Western for my next stay.
We have now used this hotel twice. The shuttle picks you up - even though its only 5/6 minutes away. Great noise reduction windows means a good nights sleep. The breakfast does not look too appetizing,
Spartan room was exactly what I wanted and was expecting. The staff was excellent and courteous and the roomost was clean and comfortable. Also, I really enjoyed the meal that I had there (a Bulgarian dish with requisite cheese and grilled veggies) so very tasty!
We stayed here as we arrived late into Sofia. We had a nice comfortable stay. The free courtesy bus was very welcomed. Rooms clean. Breakfast OK but not the best. Would recommend the hotel for a short stay
Comfortable stay at this new hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the restaurant there and the food was delicious. Room was tidy and clean. The hotel was at some distance away from Airport Terminal 1 but still manageable to access to the hotel on foot.
The location of the hotel is not bad but there is no near public transportation. Breakfast is very good but the restaurant menu is poor. We wanted to put some valuable in the hotels safe but the reception didn't had the keys. Housekeeping didn't arranged the room and not replaced the towels to our complains the answer was that they arrange the room every 2nd day.
Good room - snacks for dinner (hamburger, club sandwich) not possible while written on the menu without time restrictions. Only big remark is the breakfast. This could be better. Croissants and bread not always very fresh
We arrived late on Friday night, only one young woman on reception, lots of people arriving. Very slow service. She managed to get something for us to eat but it's unclear whether or not they do food throughout the night. Many residents arriving were very frustrated. Some getting really angry at having to wait for so long just to get a drink. There are so many great hotels in Bulgaria, this is nowhere near as good as some costing half the amount. Only bonus is close proximity to airport.
The rooms are small but well designed (certainly big enough for one person), with a comfortable bed and pillow, enough power outlets, and a very nice spacious bathroom/shower. Windows that open, too (though the hotel faces the runway, there is no bothersome airport noise even with the window open). Being an airport hotel, people come and go all night, and the lack of carpet in the corridor means there is enough noise (loud talking, doors closing) to bother light sleepers. There is, however, an excellent shuttle service to the airport, every 20 minutes, 24 hrs. Nevertheless, this is much the closest hotel to the airport (one can even walk to it, though rough sidewalks make it less than a great experience with a wheelie suitcase) and it can definitely be recommended.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night but was charged for 2 nights. The receptionist explained to me how they charge the credit card (supposedly like everywhere else around the world) but did not not offer any help explaining or offering to follow up to see how they charged me twice. Also there was nicotine smell all over the reception and restaurant area.
Room ok, bed comfy. Close to hotel and good with free shuttle. Bar food ok, but no other choice within walking distance. Room WiFi very poor, constantly dropping off and TV choice limited. Breakfast was disappointing, I was a bit later than normal, 9:30 and there was limited choice, and the hot selection was poor.
My reservation was for one double room but we were accommodated in a room prepared for one person. The recertion girl in the day we chcked out was very surly debating all the time with us. Otherwise the hotel is good located and clean.
though arriving late the reception/bar staff were very helpful. the only downside of stay was the lack of in room coffee/tea making facility. Shuttle bus driver was very helpful with luggage at hotel and aiport.
Hotel was clean and rooms were fine. We had a big problem getting to the hotel from the airport. Website states the hotel "is easily accessible by public transport - 1 minute walking distance to a bus and 1,6 km to metro station" and has "a free airport shuttle". We arrived at 10:30 PM and could find no one at the airport who could tell us how to get to the hotel by public transport. Basically no one we talked to had ever heard of the Ibis. We didn't have a phone to use in Bulgaria and were not able to get the public phones in the airport to work. The information desk person couldn't help us with the public phone and didn't offer to call the hotel for us. Eventually a very nice young Bulgarian woman took pity on us and called the hotel on her phone and the shuttle picked us up in 5 minutes. The person at the airport information desk could have called for us (as a different person did the next day), but they didn't offer. You, the hotel, need to have more specific information on how to get the shuttle pick-up and let people arrange for that via e-mail or pre-arranged time. At the hotel you told us it doesn't automatically come every 20 minutes; it needs to be called. If you can get to the hotel on the public bus, please put the very specific bus number and stop name on the web-site. Not everyone has a phone to use in the countries they visit for a short while.
A good night's sleep near the airport. Comfy bed in a new building, clean room and lobby, free wifi, free airport shuttle, weak shower water pressure, useless hairdryer, no tea/coffee in room, no safe in room. Need a 5-7 BLN taxi ride to the nearest shopping mall. Overall exactly what we needed before a 6 am flight, good value for money.
Clean and welcoming, looksl ike recently done up. No frills, no thrills, good value for money. Unfonrtunately did not indicate they do offer free shuttle transport, on request, so I took a taxi and was way overcharged :-(.
Hotel is very close to airport. Despite its walking distance, free shuttle is included. Hotel stuff and shuttle drivers are very friendly and very helpful. Hotel is new and clean. Rooms have simple equipment but perfectly enough to overnight before early morning flight.
Very friendly helpful staff. From general manager over reception and bar untill to drivers. Good food in the restaurant and also breakfast ok. 2 min to Airport ( free shuttle service ). Will go there again next time.
