the hotel itself was ok, till it came to eat, evening menu suffered severely from lack of choice, so I had the same thing 3 nights on the trot, the portions were very small, and if it weren't for the price being very expensive, two meals really would only make one, and I had to have food stored in my room to satisfy the hunger, breakfast informal approach was good, but all the food was just luke warm, Staff though were very good, Taxis from the NEC are very expensive, but going back a lot cheaper, as the hotels taxi firm cannot collect from the NEC
Stayed here after a long day at NEC. From reception to restaurant and bar the staff were so friendly and the lovely comfy bed was a bonus. Would definitely stay again. There was an additional £8.00 for on site parking but worth it for the convenience.
This Hotel could not be more convenient for the NEC. The staff were very welcoming. the breakfast was very good for the price. We will be using this Hotel in future for any events at the NEC. We are thinking about booking for the BBC Foodshow and looking at more concerts at the Genting Arena.
We had a great overnight stay here while attending an event at the NEC. Eau access from the station and aiort - if you font mind a 250m walk - and a great night sleep. Breakfast a bit limited in terms of quality and variety. No decent OJ, no natural yoghurt, no butter, no meusli when we were there. Members of our party staying at the ibis budget, half a mile away had all of these. Maybe they just ran out but, really, that's no excuse for lacking basic healthy stuff! The stay was otherwise great and staff very keen to be helpful and accommodating.
Excellent value and everything you need for a 1 night stopover. Only complaint was I checked with Ibis before booking and was directed to the wrong hotel . Wanted the ne right on the airport but this is further away.
Checked in on a busy Friday evening to a very warm welcome. Located our room with ease via the lift of the second floor.... room comfy and clean with a nice view of the outside garden area. Breakfast the next morning was served with good variety to choose from and catered for special dietry requirements. After a busy day out on the Saturday returned to relax with an evening meal and bottle of wine before retiring. Sunday morning again found an aray of excellent choices for breakfast. Hotel kindly stored our cases for us to collect later following another busy day out. Check out easy, service 1st class and staff more than happy to help in every area we had connection with
We had an early flight so checked in for an overnight stay. The hotel was good with reasonably well sized room and good shower facilities. We ate in the restaurant which was good value considering the lack of competition and overall the hotel was excellent. It is well worth mentioning the complimentary coffee and water that is available - very nice touch
took me one hour to find it at the airoport as thay were no signs, got my room and it felt like a mile to walk to the room, carpets througout were not clean especially in my room lots of crumbs from the last people . wifi would not work on any of my laptops or telephone , not really help from the staff , breakfast was very very poor , not like ibis in France their is is much more choice
Myself and a couple of friends booked a couple of rooms for the Practical Classics weekend at the NEC, March-April 2017. I/we have stayed at Ibis hotels before so was really hopeful of this one. The hotel is very pleasant. Very clean, quiet and within just a few minutes walk of the NEC. Parking overnight at just £8 is excellent too. All of the staff were very friendly and the hotel is very well organised. Breakfast was included in the price and this is a good buffet-type breakfast with cereals, cooked foods, fruit, etc with plenty of room to sit. All very unhurried. Our rooms were big enough for the weekend and were well maintained. Overall this is a good hotel and at a very good price. Definitely will book here for any/next NEC event.
The room was clean, the staff smiling and attentive, breakfast was good. GLUTEN FREE BREAD ON DISPLAY WITHOUT HAVING TO ASK AND A DEDICATED GLUTEN FREE TOASTER! Sorry for shouting, but I've never encountered a dedicated toaster, brilliant. Free bottle of water in the room each day. Didn't use the bar or the restaurant, but it was lively on the Friday night with all the classic car businesses and owners. We walked from the Resorts World to the hotel, not too far if you know the way, the hotel staff helped with this.
We chose this over the nearby cheaper 'budget' Ibis expecting more for the extra money, but it was very disappointing. The bathroom had no tissues or garbage bin and some of the towels were badly stained. The bedroom was OK but although there was a tea tray, which was replenished with teabags and milk each day, they did not bother to provide clean mugs, just left our dirty old ones. The breakfast was good for gluten free options (if you got there early enough) but very low on vegetables - in most places you get some grilled tomatoes or mushrooms with your bacon & eggs! We ending up eating in the restaurant twice, once because we arrived at 8.30 pm and then because every eating place in the nearby Resorts World was fully booked - it has standard dishes that are very mediocre, so I wouldn't recommend it, but there didn't appear to be any alternatives within walking distance.
overnight stay to catch early flight from birmingham. so do not know what it would be like in the day. when came for early breakfast the recepion staff dressed scuferly in own clothes. not good inpresion for a accour hotel.
This was my first visit to this hotel but I am familiar with the chain so I had a fair idea what to expect. The room was comfortable, the bed is firm which suits me. The bathroom was modern, clean and the shower worked well. The bar area was bright and comfortable and the menu was good for a short stay with table service. Full English breakfast buffet was a real bonus and included in the price. There was some aircraft noise, but if you book an airport hotel then Guess what...I will definitely go back
We chose this hotel after considering our usual choice of Premier Inn, it came down to availability and price. The hotel was clean, tidy and check in was faultless with very friendly staff to greet you on arrival. Early check in was not an issue here either. The room was warm, clean and with everything you need, plus a complimentary bottle of water too. Only gripe here was the toilet wouldn't flush without keeping your finger on the flush button and the shower cubicle was missing lots of grout between the tiles on the floor. Excellent location for the train station, which we used to go into Birmingham, and the NEC - in fact the closest we've been to the NEC before. Our niggles were on one night (very early morning)the fire alarm went off numerous times - no apologies / explanations from staff given, although later the next evening I did enquire and was told that someone 'probably' tried to have a cigarette in their room. The second issue was the restaurant staff, I think it was the manager (a male in a purple shirt) and a female waitress. We had specifically asked for two seats that were part of a table of eight, one was a softer more comfortable chair for my wife. We were told there was no way we could have the seats as they had potentially 200+ others coming into the restaurant that night - we didn't see 20, let alone 200! We were told we could have any table for two and if the seats weren't comfortable enough we could grab a cushion from the bar side. We said we wouldn't bother eating there and moved to the bar side to finish our drinks. The night was saved by a lovely waitress in a purple shirt/blouse who, after around 15 minutes of us sitting in the bar side said that it would be fine to have whatever seats we wished. We explained that we didn't want to put anyone out but she was fine with us sitting where we wanted. Good on her as without this we would have gone to Resorts World and eaten - taking Ibis money elsewhere. More staff like her please??? All in all, would I stay there again - probably, if availability / price was the same at Premier Inn? No.
Stayed here before, very handy if you're seeing someone at the Genting Arena, only a 10 minute walk and good parking at the hotel (£8). Efficient booking in on arrrival and very friendly. Room basic but reflected by price and very clean, bed very comfy, bathroom needed a bit of maintenance (grout missing between tiles on floor so looked a bit grubby, and button missing of loo flush) Breakfast basic but good for the money. On return home we had a call to say we'd left a wallet behind in our room (how stupid are we ?!), we were very impressed at their honesty as there was cash, bank cards etc.inside. As it was a long way to return to pick it up we asked if it could be posted back securely by RM Special Delivery which they agreed to but took nearly 2 weeks to do after a lot of phone calls to nag them. Obviously it was our fault we left it behind but it was a painful process getting it back and lots of phone calls with promises of being rung back which never happened. Overall staff were individually very helpful and friendly regarding the problem but we did find it quite frustrating, hence we knocked the service score down a bit.
All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and a nice environment. The hotel was also quiet which was really nice. The beds were comfortable with the foam mattress toppers. The only fown side was that the evening menu was limited but the staff adapted it for my partner who has allergies. The breakfast was very nice with lots of choices
Nice hotel, spotless clean, definately a step up comfort wise from the other Ibis hotels at the airport. The breakfast was good, nice choice of food hot and cold. Car park was free for our one night stay, a big bonus. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk via a lift from the N.E.C from there you can get the train into Birmingham. The only down side is that the walk to the N.E.C is through an industrial estate which is deserted at night, so not that pleasant a walk in the dark but having said that we didn't have any problems but would not want to do it on my own being a female. Would definately stay at this hotel again if in the area.
modern, well sound proofed from the airport, 2 issues concerned me, the white bedding was covered in Black fluff & the shower slate floor tiles were loose & the floor tile grouting was 80% missing ( Quite dangerous) this was room 10
Quick check in but was not offered chance to book full English breakfast...this caused confusion following morning & resulted in member of staff working in restaurant being extremely rude to myself & my fellow travelers!!! Not at all good practice. Room was booked for 3 adults, beds made for 3adults but only 2 cups, 2 towels etc. When we booked out I did mention to reception how upset we were with the staff member who was rude to us & about the room not set up for 3 adults...they refunded our parking charges!!!!
Good stay at a competitively priced hotel ,not luxury but clean ,friendly and well situated for exhibitions and trains to central Birmingham . exactly what you would expect from a budget hotel , staff very friendly and helpful
Cool greys live alongside highlights of orange, turquoise and lime green. Colourful polka dots pop up in places, whilst spaghetti junction has been reimagined as a custom design across the carpets. Different fabrics combine throughout, from old tan leather and vintage metal, to textured wool. Furnishings and lighting follow the space age shapes of the sixties, whilst vivid vintage prints of iconic industrial Birmingham structures hang on the walls.
Anchored in the heart of England, Birmingham has been the UK's central hub for decades. The original Mini Cooper was doing laps of spaghetti junction long before heading out on any Italian Jobs, and here is where it was built too. Birmingham also has the second busiest UK airport and train station, and more canals than Venice. It's a city that's been perpetually in motion since long before Cliff was setting off on his Summer Holidays in a red double decker. A multitude of different characters have passed through Birmingham, and our designer has brought this fusion to life in the hotel. All with a retro nod to the era when travel was funky and a little bit cheeky too.
Check yourself into our lounge bar, which is styled like an aeroplane wing, then perch yourself on 50s style diner seating for a bite, or on our bar stools with real bike pedals underneath. Any little passengers can hop on board a toy car, plane or double-decker bus too. If this gives you a chance to put your feet up, then it'll be on tan and leather stools. And if you want to refuel, simply stroll over to the old petrol pump and next to it you'll find our coffee machine. With everything in one place, the world really is at your fingertips with this hotel.
