The location opposite the Shinkansen exit from the Kyoto Station and the Airport bus stop cannot be beat, especially at their rates. Also within easy walking distance is the Aeon Mall which has a nice large food court. And there is a very nice market Herve across the street to the left just past the taxi stand. The hotel is completely non-smoking except for a smoking booth off the lobby. However, the first room we were assigned did smell of smoke. The staff changed our room immediately to one that was clean smelling. The two large twin beds were very comfotable and the room was spacious by Japanese standards. We were able to fit three large suitcases standing up along the wall with the window out of our way. We did have one of the larger rooms, though, so my guess is that economy rooms are smaller. Another great thing about this hotel was the availability of a guest laundry The one negative for us was the breakfast buffet that was very crowded as the hotel seems to cater to small tour groups as well as individuals. For westerners the choices were not great--some very thin corn flakes, "scrumbled" eggs that may have come from dried powder, a bit of fruit, and terrible coffee. I saw pasta the first morning and thought great until I realized they were serving it cold. Had I known about the breakfast choices I would not have bothered purchasing the inclusive rate but found something to eat elsewhere. But really my only complaint was the breakfast. Everything else including the very nice staff was wonderful. I would definitely stay here again.
