Comfortable and friendly. It has a lovely setting by the river, plenty of options to eat and drink nearby as the hotel only has some convenience meals although the continental buffet breakfast was very good
Spent four great days here. Hotel was spot-on. Room was larger that typical Ibis with very comfortable bed, en-suite bathroom & en-suite WC. Air-conditioning very effective & room kept very clean. Helpfull friendly staff, comfortable bar area & excellent buffet breakfast. Room had a wonderful view of the river which I requested when I booked, as advised on this site.
This is a lovely hotel right by the river in central Bayonne. The room was styled well with a incredibly comfortable bed. Worth the extra money compared to the other Ibis hotels in Bayonne for that alone. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the hotel was fine with our dog. Only issue was the very limited (non-existent) parking around the hotel.
We had the most fantastic stay, the Management and staff went out of there way to make our stay memorable. They just could not do enough to assist, arrange tours, get taxi's etc. Would highly recommend the Ibis for any one wanting to be treated so fantastically!
This was the most recent of several stays in this hotel. Its clean but décor a bit tired now. Breakfast good. Riverside repairs spoilt the previously lovely view from bedroom window but hopefully this will be completed by our next visit
Thanks Ibis Styles Bayonne for a friendly and comfortable stay in such a beautiful part of the world! We loved discovering Bayonne just an easy walk from the hotel, and the spectacular views from our room. Very impressed at the level of confort offered.
We stayed in the Ibis Styles hotel for a week. It's in a good position for exploring Bayonne and area. The building is an old property overlooking the river Adour. We were fortunate and had a room with a view of the river, bridge, town and cathedral. The staff were very welcoming and all were pleasant, polite and helpful. Breakfast was included in the price. There is a choice of 3 types of cereal, fresh bread or toast. There is a machine for pressing fresh oranges as well as other fruit juices. There is cheese, ham, butter, jams and honey. Also coffee and tea. You can also have other light meals in the hotel. After breakfast is over there are free teas, coffees and biscuits available all day to hotel guests until 22.00. We really appreciated being able to get a hot drink when ever we wanted to! Our room was spacious and overlooked the river Adour from 2 French windows and decorated with quirky stripes! The bed was large and comfortable and the room warm. We had a shower room with hand wash basin and separate WC. TV with lots of channels most in French with CNN International in English. We also found a Spanish channel showing such things as films and the Big Bang Theory without subtitles or being dubbed. We really enjoyed living in this small hotel.
A very well refurbished old hotel- the rooms are small but well designed. We had a view room and could look across the river. Not much shelf/storage space Breakfast included but could have been better
An old building in the centre of Bayonne has been refurbished in a modern style. My room was spacious and had a great view of the river. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean with a good shower over the bath. The reception person was very friendly and helpful. The wifi was reliable. Breakfast was acceptable for a hotel in this price. Unfortunately there is no parking at the hotel and finding a place can be tricky and you must pay between 08.30 and 18.00. Also finding the hotel is not too easy of you use a satnav because the recommended route through a small road under the main river bridge has recently been closed.
Hotel was nice, Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and to a good standard. However note there was no parking onsite which meant leaving a fully laden car in the nearby train station (no noise from trains). Disturbed a few times during the night as the walls were paper thin.
Great decor, comfortable beds with plumptious pillows, substantial breakfast, friendly, helpful staff, spacious room with fabulous views and extremely convenient for the rail station and for the excellent Bistrot St. Cluques, just round the corner
We stayed at the Ibis styles for a 2 day break, using it as a base while visiting other areas nearby. Arriving by car was slightly convoluted... the series of one-way streets was slightly baffling, but trusting the sat-nav, it got us there easily. Although we parked directly outside the hotel's entrance, the reception informed us the limited parking was metered, so tickets with a maximum of 4 hrs needed purchasing at the nearby machine. I though the hotel details said parking was included NOT just available outside. Upon returning one evening there were no bays free, meaning I had to park some way away. Not what I expected at all. So if you drive there don't assume there is a car park like I did. The check-in staff were very helpful and efficient, the room (415) was a nice size and offered a nice view of the river. Breakfast was continental and there was ample choice. The location beside the bridge was great (sometimes a bit noisy though). Although the main tourist area and most bars and restaurants were on the other side of it, it wasn’t much of a chore taking the stroll. Just be aware of the opening times… afternoon closing meant finding many venues closed until evening after our 2pm arrival. Many provide riverside seating…nice when there aren’t cars passing close by while seated. The local area is more downbeat than the other side of the bridge, but there are a couple of bars and restaurants close by. We did pass the other Ibis hotel on the way in and out of Bayonne, the Styles was the better location by far. Overall, a nice hotel, for those driving; just be aware of the parking.
Very well run property 5 minutes walk over a bride to Bayonne town and close to the train station. Lovely views from the rooms facing the river. Note, rooms do NOT have a safe (very important to travels in my opinion), refrigerator or tea kettle. Elevator is very small and sometimes a long wait as the cleaning staff also uses this elevator for maintenance. Very good standard IBIS styles breakfast included with Gateau Basque and local cheeses. Internet is inconvenient as you need a code which ends after 8 hours and thus you need a new code -- sometimes the codes don't work so I suggest to always have an extra code per device . Codes are free from the front desk. Sheets changed every 2-3 days. Highly recommend this hotel. IBIS Styles better location than the regular IBIS.
The lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but also apparently downstairs in the evenings was a little disappointing. Apart from that everything was pretty good; we were travelling by train so the location (5 minutes walk from the station) was brilliant and our room (414) was huge with superb views over the river and Bayonne old town. Bathroom/toilet facilities were more than adequate, and the bed extremely comfortable. The stylish breakfast room provided an excellent start to the day with a good variety of food & drink. I suppose any slightly more portly guests or people who insist on travelling with one or more kitchen sinks could whinge about the size of the lift, but, on the plus side, the staircase provided a pretty decent workout. The staff were not always immediately available but this did not concern us, and the instructions for calling them were very clear.
Staff very friendly, bed & room very comfortable but for some reason the night receptionist was going up and down in the lift and moving a hotel trolley around for 3 hours from 12.30 until 3.30am. As I was near the lift this totally prevented me from getting sleep and with a long drive imminent I was very unhappy about it.
Chaotic and services available not what was printed in the IBIS brochure - no parking! Breakfast was chaos, too many customers and only one member of staff. Not a patch on the other IBIS Styles hotels we've stayed in.
Great location, especially if you can swing a high floor room overlooking the River L'Adour. A very underrated city in my view, and only 20 minutes by bus to the beaches and restaurants of Biarritz. If you fancy pizza or pasta Pizzeria La Trattoria by the Casino in Biarritz is a great venue, and ask to be seated with a view of the pizza ovens and the theatrics that the chefs use to prepare your meal!
Good efficient welcome. Rooms clean, adequately resourced and comfortable. Hotel situated in a super location for city centre Bayonne. The small elevator is inadequate for size of hotel, but stairs good for exercise!
This is an excellently situated hotel close to city centre, with a good restaurant nearby. Good value for money and convenient for an overnight stay en route to Portugal. Have applied for loyalty card and would definitely stay again.
When in France we always stay at Ibis Styles. The decor on the refurbished ones is lovely, the service is great, the breakfasts are really good and all round they are great value. This matches all of the above except the bedrooms need a refresher - the rest of the hotel is fine. Our room was a bit stale, it was very hot and although it had air con it was very noisy and old. We opened the French doors but our room overlooked the street and a busy junction so it was very noisy too
