Ibis Styles Speyer is not a 3-star hotel. It is a 2-star hotel. This hotel meets the criteria of a 1-star or 2-star hotel. Like most other Ibis, I would label this a 2-star hotel. The best thing about this hotel is the staff.
A short walk distance to the dome and city centre. Nice staff and Clean room. Small selection in the breakfast but good price. A Little minus that there is no restaurant, if the weather is bad then the short walk to the city is not so short any more.
We arrived early and as expected no rooms available yet, after visiting the Speyer aerospace museum, the rooms were ready. The person at the check-in was very friendly and helpful. The only issue was that the room has no aircon and the temperature that day was around 30+ degrees Celsius. As a result, not so easy to sleep, especially for us who are used to aircon. The restaurants are all within walking distance and the city centre is very nice. The hotel breakfast is fine, basic but ok. What we will remember the most is the very good service of the hotel staff. The hotel itself is showing some signs of aging. But all is working well and it's clean.
hotel ok but no restaurant. Bad smell in bathroom. Did advise reception. Easy to find but again no restaurant close by. Strange way the room numbers. First floor numbers 200 second floor 300 numbers. Good parking area. All in all just fine.
Excellent Hotel very clean and not to expensive. Also with in walking distance of the city centre and Cathedral and other attractions like the Technikmuseum Speyer. Easy access to the main road in and out of the city.
Fantastic location, walking distance to centre. Great adjoining rooms for family meant that kids could have their own space and shower room. Good breakfast too. Friendly helpful staff and welcoming at reception. Secure parking at rear.
To visit the cathedral town of Speyer, this Ibis is easy to find and very close to the old town. The interior has motives of the architecture of the cathedral and also Warhol-like prints of Speyer's famous individuals--very cool. I wished it had AC, because it was warm in the room and the street noise prevented me from keeping the window open all night. Breakfast buffet had great variety. Overall a nice stay.
Stayed in interconnecting rooms with 2 small children. Hotel was very comfortable for a one night stay with both rooms being very well equipped with comfortable beds and good shower. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely book this type of hotel again. Next to a great space and vehicle museum which was a bonus!
Very clean and well equipped rooms, nice modern and wide shower. We had 2 connected rooms as family suite, a perfect solution. Located in a quiet area, but very close to the Speyer city centre, ideal for a visit of the historical area For the (small) kids, they offer a play corner at the reception, and a wonderful dedicated breakfast corner. Wide choice at the breakfast buffet.
- Nice: mainly location. Walking distance (200m) from famous Speyer dom and pedestrian avenue. And also walking distance from Rhein, garden and suprising technik Museum. Next to Bretzelfest location in July - Not so nice: No air conditionning in rooms. When summer is really hot (like in July 2015), it is really difficult to stand the heat, even at night. Place is fair and staff is nice and helpful. Service is compliant with hotel category.
Ibis Styles type of hotel. I stayed many times at their Ibis and Ibis Budget type hotels but I must admit, Ibis Styles is really nice. From the room, the bed, the decoration, the breakfast etc. all is one level up the Ibis.
Ibis Styles is not our first choice of the Accor brands, but this example in Speyer is exceptional in its location to local sights and services. Being quite new, the hotel and its room and contents are in very good order. The staff are keen and very helpful. Even at busy breakfasts the staff make an effort to keep food available as it runs out, and to clear tables for the next customers. this visit has been our first experience of Ibis Styles brand, although we generally stay in Accor hotels, when they are available.
I have spent 4 days in this hotel in nice historical town and was overall satisfied. I especially appreciate the pleasant (and well affordable) Ibis Styles concept (modern design and the AI services) as well as friendly staff. However, I have to say that some hotels from the Ibis Styles family are better (better location, more variable breakfast, more design features, ...).
I had stayed at this hotel back in 2002 under a previous name, but I was quite pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were large, the staff very professional and very friendly, the breakfast was better than what we had been getting in the hotels we stayed in while enroute to Speyer (my partner was VERY happy to see scrambled eggs, lol). My cousin stopped by Saturday morning to have breakfast with us, and they were incredibly accommodating in allowing her to do so. We were so impressed, in fact, that we are planning our next visit for March 2016, and I am getting ready to contact the hotel to see about blocking 6 rooms for us during our stay. Well done, Ibis Styles, we'll be back!
We stayed here overnight just before Christmas. The proximity of the Christmas market was very nice. The town center looked very nice and we would visit Speyer again, also because of some nice museums we saw. The hotel itself is good and offered good value for money (we had a special deal). Two adjacent rooms is ideal with children. Our room was on the quiet side of the hotel but on the ground floor so we still felt uncomfortable leaving the windows open and even in winter the rooms were quite warm. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was OK especially considering that it is included. Compared with other accor hotels we visited the selection was a bit narrow though. Great coffee though. And a special mention to the delicious showers. Recommended!
a small restaurant would have been perfect, but there are many restaurants very close to the hotel. very nice matching of colors. very clean. a small restaurant would have been perfect, but there are many restaurants very close to the hotel. very nice matching of colors. very clean
Nice hotel, quiet, near to the center of the Speyer city. Friendly staff. Close to the hotel there is a spectacular Speyer technical museum. Easy drive from hotel to our offices in Ludwigshafen, reasonable even during the time of the morning traffic jam. Fully recommendable for business and leisure stay.
This was a practical, clean hotel, great for overnight stay. We had a family room which was 2 interconnecting rooms, great for parents to get sleep and for the kids to feel 'grown-up'. The rooms were both clean and tidy, although the carpets looked rather worn. Bedding was good and crisp. Breakfast was a self service buffet, ideal for the kids! Only issue was no tea making facilities in the room. There was a self service area in main reception to make coffees but you couldn't use it after 10pm, which was a shame. Great position to explore the town for an evening.
Overall very good but with one problem: there are no airconditioning /ventilators system in the room at all, and if you open the windows you'll be full of mosquitos in the bedroom. It was a bad sleep night because of that. You have to sleep in a room with closed doors and windows and with no ventilation system at all, even the bathroom exhaust goes off at night until the morning. It got very hot in the room at night.
We arrived just before midnight - the night manager was very friendly and helpful. First problem: lift was out of order and we were on the first and second floors. The room was quite extraordinarily hot and there was no ventilation or air conditioning. This meant we were obliged to open the window, which made little difference to the temperature but it was so noisy it was like sleeping in the middle of the Autobahn. One of the rooms was not terribly clean. Breakfast had a number of problems (stale milk, some food items running out). The new decor is absolutely hideous, both in the rooms and in the public areas, although this did not directly affect our stay, of course. We attempted to bring our complaints to the notice of the two people on the desk, mainly the lack of a lift and the extremely hot room, but instead of apologizing, all they did was argue. Not good enough, Accor. We expect better from Ibis.
