For the price we paid, I would be hard pressed to demand more from the Ibis Berline City Ost. Our rooms were comfortable and had all the features we needed (though the beds were, confusingly, in a configuration not listed on their site, there were still enough of them). The location is pretty good, very convenient to the U5 and reasonably close to Boxhagenerkiez and the S41/42 ring train. There were some issues with VERY LOUD locals on the sidewalk at 3 to 6 in the morning having midnight beers and debates that kept us up, though. Breakfast was tasty and free. Really, everything I expected from them, they met and then exceeded a little bit. I do, though, want to call out the staff, who exceeded my expectations by a huge margin. They were among the nicest and friendliest hotel staff I’ve dealt with in all of Europe and went out of their way to help us both as guests (making sure our rooms were close together, helping us check in and out, etc) and as tourists (with good advice and recommendations for things to do and see). Of course you should come to Ibis hotels expecting a budget experience, and stay in Friedrichschain expecting a very lively location, but given those expectations I think this hotel will be a pleasant surprise in most ways. Thanks for the great stay!

At 85 euros/night which included a pretty good breakfast spread, the Ibis Styles Berlin City Ost was a good choice for those traveling on a budget. It is located on a quiet side street in an interesting area which I would compare to the Greenwich Village section of New York. It is just one block away from Frankfurter Allee and the U-5 Samariterstrasse Station. Five stops on this line (about 10 minutes) get to the Alexanderplatz station which is a central hub to all parts of this very interesting city including Museum Island, the Reichstag and numerous shopping and dining areas. The rooms are on the small side but are clean and well maintained. The bathrooms all have rather narrow shower stalls and we had plenty of hot water during our stay. There is no AC but, even though this was the last two weeks in July, we really did not need it. My only complaint would be that at times the wi-fi seemed to be a little overwhelmed on days when a lot of guests were present. The staff were always friendly and helpful and most could speak and understand English very well. Our son and his wife live about ten minutes walk from this hotel and we would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Germany.

the staff were friendly and the service was good. I had a small room (two single beds, head to toe) that was fine for me but others might want a little larger room/. the hotel was within one block of U-Bahn 5 line that takes you to Alexanderplaz.. From Alex you can get to anywhere in Berlin.

Really friendly welcome, comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. What more do you need? Well how about a U-bahn station 2 mins away with a cheap and good Italian restaurant outside it and a shopping centre 10 mins walk away. The area is bohemian/grotty but don't be put off by the graffiti. We felt quite safe and the area is historically interesting.

Hostel comfort for the price of an upper category Hotel. Toilette seat in Bedroom toilet was out of order. Housekeeping staff entered bedroom without knocking. Efficient Staff at Breakfast and reception. Not friendly but efficient.

Shared a room with my Wife & our 22 year old son. Single bed wasn't very comfortable as it was a sofa chair converted into a bed. Buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Parking was expensive at €10 per day

The reception staffs from hotel are very nice and helpful. The room for 3 Person is big enough. But if you have a room directly facing the stress, you shouldn’t open the window in the night. Coz there are always some drunk people talk loud outside. Hotel offers packing place. It costs only 10 euro per day.

I had the opportunity to stay several times in the Ibis Styles Berlin Mitte which is a great **hotel. As it was fully booked I decided immediately to chose another house of the same brand but unfortunately it seems to be nothing more than a name and some corporate identity marketing this house has received. As I was used to the easily accessible house in Mitte, I expected the same in Friedrichshain. However, the way to the reception is your first deal breaker if you have problems walking stairs and/or do not want to carry your heavy luggage. However, the staff is really friendly and helps with all your needs if necessary. As the Ibis Styles hotels offer the same advantages, you have access to coffee and tea all day long. In Mitte you find a modern machine that satisfies your coffee needs, the one here has thermo cans with coffee and hot water, letting you imagine how long its already sitting there. The same thing with the rooms: As you are enabled by this hotel brand to receive a double bed in ALL rooms, you clearly have to get them also here in Friedrichshain. However, my room was so tiny that with the large bed, a table and two chairs there was no space left for me. Imagine: the floor ist nowhere spacey enough to flip open a double sided suitcase. That I did not like the super soft mattresses seems to be my personal issue. That my window were facing four very large dumpsters (I know... they have to be put somewhere!) was also very unfortunate. All in all I was not satisfied knowing how luxurious your stay can feel in the identically branded hotel in Berlin Mitte. The one in Friedrichshain however, was a wrong choice for me, especially considering that it is prized at the same level as the house in Mitte.

Hotel is in a fairly pleasant residential city street several stops on the U5 from Alexanderplatz. Also quite convenient to Frankfurter Alle for S bahn 9 for airport. If you head south west there are quite a few nice restaurants. The corridors are a little utilitarian and would benefit from a few homely touches. The green carpets in the rooms are slightly uninspiring but the rooms are perfectly acceptable. The guys at the desk were all pleasant and really helpful. Excellent breakfast and WiFi. All in all a very acceptable base for a pleasant stay.

Check in agent from another planet ( drunk or did not sleep well), moderate room although noisy. Bathroom acceptable. The hotel is not far from the S bahn (underground) approx. 5 minutes walking. Dining and drinking just a couple of minutes walking.

The hotel was regular only. It is not a place to rest. Every day the cleaner open your room door sharply 8:30h. No privacy! You need to leave the key on the recepcion. They run out of towels. Really disapointing for an Ibis Style.

Ideally located in the East part of Friedrichshain (East of Berlin) a few S-Bahn station from Berlin centre. Walking distance from bar and restaurants as well as shopping, but quiet area. The owner is very friendly and will help you to organize your staying as well as printing your boarding pass. Rooms are clean with good wifi connection. Good breakfast. Good value for money.

It was the second worst Accor hotel that we have been to. And we have already been to quite a few... (ranging from Ibis Budget to Novotel). (1) Imagine that they offer to their customers ground-floor rooms with the view to the... trash :( (2) There was a lot of noise outside the window in the very morning (7AM) due to cleaning work. (3) As we arrived, the toilet in our room was dirty. (4) Mattresses were much worse than they usually are in Ibis Budget (supposedly they were already used for much to long). (5) the staff was unprofessional - we had to ask them a few times for the same thing. The only advantage in our view was the breakfast. Much better than you would expect in a hotel of this, relatively low, class. We chose Ibis Styles Berlin Ost after having brilliant experiences with Ibis Styles Roma EUR. Unfortunetely the hotel in Berlin is playing in a much lower league :(( Never again.

Very ennoying that prepaid rates are much higher than daily rates on hotel Price list. Actually I feel myself cheaten! at least 10-20 Euros in difference. Room was very small. Staff and location OK. Breakfast OK

Very nice staff, great rooms and great location. The only problem was that the wi-fi only worked (very!) sporadically. We complained about it several times, but they were unable to do anything about it until Monday (which happened to be the day after we left). Other than that everything was great and the hotel is very recommendable.

It was just another successful stay in Ibis (accor) hotels. We (with wife and 2 children) spent enjoying evening after long trip in very nice located hotel. Not hard to find (with Google of course :-P). Very nice and professional staff. Comfortable room. Quite tasty breakfast for not so expensive price. I'm recommending it for families ;-)

We have now stayed here 6 times although I have'nt reviewed it for a long time. When we first went it was in the Trip Adv. Top 10 and rightly recommended. I don't know why it isn't still up there, because it should be. The wife & I love this hotel and it's location along with the price. When we first went it was the Agon Frankfurter Allee and now it is owned by Ibis but it has lost none of it's charm. We love it and will be back.

The has an unique design with a kind of retro-feeling. But the room was rather narrow, you barely fitted through the gap between the wall and the bed. Breakfast, national phone calls and WLAN are included and the breakfast buffet was really nice. You could get cereals, bagels, crescent rolls, bread, yoghurt and fruit salad and lots of other things. I really liked the breakfast area, because of the beautiful stone walls. The hotel is close to U-Bahn and S-Bahn to get you around and it's only a few stops till Alexanderplatz. If you walk around the area, Friedrichshain, you find a lot of small restaurants, bars and cafes. Sadly it got very noisy during the night and the walls were kind of thin. So you could barely sleep when somebody in the room next or over you took a shower. Service was very kind, but beware: the price on the Accor Hotel webpage does not include the 5% tourism tax!

An excellent hotel for the relatively modest charges involved. A good location for public transport. Breakfast is provided in pleasant surroundings and agood choice is offered. Helpful staff at the reception desk at all times.

Reception staff is efficient & quick. No moren no less. Location is nice, quite new, with some good design ideas. Rooms are clean, but "strange" shape, only 20 cm to pass to the other side of the bed, not very practical.. Good TV, but position of TV (in our room at least) was rather hard on the neck (quite high + right corner..). Very quiet area but mattresses rather poor, considering they are most likely quite new! Bathroom clean, practical, spacious. Location 5' walk to U Bahn Samariterstrasse very practical + night shops + supermarket nearby, + 10 ' walk to the nice Friedrichshain area Boxhagener/Simon Dach. Breakfast choice not bad, only VERY little choice in bread (mini croissants + prebaked rolls that were not baked through enough), especially to German standards. Waiter was very friendly. Would recommend mainly for location. But with a good look around, better value for money can be found.
