I only picked this hotel because I needed a cheap place to stay for a last minute overnight stay in Shanghai. I have stayed in many IBIS hotels in the world and this was without a doubt the worst. The room was dirty, and the furniture is falling apart. People kept slipping cards for sexual services under the door. Everything smelled of smoke. I was just glad that the shower worked and the bed was OK.
Friendly and accommodating staff were great! Good location 10 minute walk to nearest metro station and 10 minute walk to the river with awesome views of the downtown. Excellent breakfast with a variety of western and Chinese items. Soundproofing between rooms could be improved
Front desk are not helpful, slow and poor customer service. I was told to collect iron & ironboard my self from the receptionist to my own room and although is a non smoking room. People still smoke within the building and the carpet smells like ciggeratte. Ofcourse it's close to the local tourist spot and it eventually loud and
Overall the room is fine considering this is a budget hotel, but for accor plus member you dont get the discount for the breakfast as informed by the receptionist that the breakfast is not running by Ibis
Terrible room experience, dirty room. The bed are as hard as a stone! Very poor room, strong smell. The toilets not clean at all!!! Initially thought the receptionist are nice, but it proves me wrong! When requesting for a taxi, they took 25mins to grab one, they wanna to have some commission with some brided driver!!! 0 scores for the stay of any!!! Never will stay in IBIS again
The worst Ibis ever!!! Terrible staff and quality of the room and service! Staffs doesnt speaks english and were really rude! I don't recommend this hotel and they did not want to listing my concern .....
Advantage : Next to Yu garden Room is OK I have booked yu garden view room , However hotel is having just 5 floor , and from top floor even you can not get the proper view of yu garden. So I would say it is NOT worth to say as garden view.
Okay, so the advertised "spacious room" was tiny with barely enough space to get in the bed from both sides and the toilet was right up against the wall so was very uncomfortable to use. The bed was sagging and springs could be felt through the mattress. Amongst the hotel information left our room was the order form for the laundry service but hotel staff told us that it was not available. The hotel also advertises a self-service laundry room for us to use which could not be found and staff told was not available. We originally booked 3 nights but had to leave after the first due to the issues.
this hotel has a perfect location and offers the european standard. thus a safe deal for europeans or americans looking for a good standard for a good price. The wifi is a bit difficult, but that might also be a general problem. the cleaning was a bit on the low side.
This hotel sells only due to its' location. For me, the other important feature was that it's a part of global Ibis network, so certain things would be up to standard, including breakfast, internet connection, overall quality of rooms... well, I'm sorry, but I think, location is its' only benefit. But the scenery is fantastic, Yu Garden and Pudong skyscrapers far away... beautiful. Oh, and price, too, of course.
Dates of stay : from 06/05/2015 to 08/05/2015 , i.e. 2 night(s) i have been travel for my business trip on the above date and make a reservation before flight over. However the moment i reached but be informed by the hotel receptionist that there was no room available. (1st disappointed) For this trip, total 2 rooms are booked. One of my partner who reached earlier have been told the hotel that i will check in late because of the late flight but when the moment i reached hotel and proceed to check in they mentioned my partner did not tell them. (2nd disappointing on the blaming attitude) i decided to choose this hotel is because it good services i had experienced during my last business trip but not this time. Regards, Caron Tang
Clean room, location is good, Tesco is just 5 mins away. Lots of shops around, extremely convenient. Good value for money. But the front desk staffs are not that friendly, it would be better if they can improve the check-in procedure.
I arrived at hotel 11pm and found out that my booking for the night has been cancelled as my guarantee credit card did not go through. I came back the day after and checked in garden view room (more like roof view room :-) ). Room was good enough and clean. TV channel was using chinese language user interface and hard to navigate. Good: Location, choice of local street food Bad: TV channel user interface was only in Chinese Tips: There are lots of local street food around
Location is perfect for me. Close to MTR (10 min walk). Lots of food within the area. Taxi is a bit hard to find during rush hour. If you are looking for strategic location quite near the city center, then this is the place.
I usually choose Ibis because they have roughly the same quality everywhere. Not so here. My room was dirty, had no window, it was impossible to rest (noisy guests and really thin walls) and the best: on some days some of the rooms were used as shops! From early morning, strangers going in and out looking at the items spread out on the beds, smoking and loudly talking everywhere. For this price you can find much better hotels in Shanghai.
As a regular guest at Ibis hotels worldwide Ibis Shanghai Yu Garden has, unlike any other Ibis, individuality. With its location next to the old town there is plenty to see and experience on your doorstep. Other Ibis locations can be rather isolated but Yu Garden provides an instant Shanghai surprise. Ibis have worked hard to improve the hotel since my last visit and the food facilities are much improved. The staff are great; very helpful and always happy. There was amount of build work continuing at the hotel but this never started before 9am. The hotel felt safe and secure and I didn't observe any issues during my 10 day stay. There is a regular Jade market in the rooms of the hotel which is unusual but not inconvenient and one just has to accept it like many other things in China. Whether on business or pleasure this hotel is a great starting point of any visit to Shanghai. It has a good location, is value for money and is on the the doorstep of the old town. Overall: Highly recommended.
The hotel is far from being clean (though it is Accor group): from the toilets to the breakfast tables full of stains at 7AM in the morning. Besides, I had the surprise discovering a 'jade market' on the breakfast floor!!! All bedrooms doors were wide open, with people going in and out, smoking and wandering in the corridors at 7AM. The service is pretty bad also: asking for a Coke was kind of a challenge, I asked for a shower when arriving in the morning however no bedroom was available (fully understandable because I arrived before check-out time). The problem is that the clerk re-directed me to some disgusting & stinky washroom. I asked for the breakfast afterwards, the clerk told me that there was no breakfast. After getting angry, he told me that (of course) there was one but I needed to pay. I do not recommend this Ibis Hotel.
The manager of the hotel, Jason, kindly up-graded me to a better room for my eight day stay. All the staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. This is a busy hotel in a great part of the city. The restaurant located in the hotel on the ground floor is a good spot to grab a bite to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning in the future. Very good value for money.
(+) quite good hotel, quite good location, nice terrace with view of pudong, walking distance to the bund and river cruise (-) bed is hard, my room has no window, smell of smoke in the room even my room is non smoking room, i get some cards of prostitute girls
Great location, about 15mins walks from metro station and 2mins walks to one of a very attractive tourists spot, 30mins to Nanjing lu walking street. Very friendly front desks and house keeping staffs. Certainly will go back again!
