nice quiet hotel, nice rooms with bonus of a balcony, short walk into Chinon. Easy to find and safe parking right outside. Didn't try the food or bar so cannot comment. Breakfast buffet was good and included in the price. only downside was reception staff not very friendly.
Hotel Le Chinon is now IBIS styles hotel. It is across the river so has good view of the castle but there is no air-conditioning and the wifi connection was difficult. The restaurant was average and the air-conditioner, when it was activated had a hard job because the doors were open for the diners on the terrace. Breakfast was adequate but average quality.
One of the better Ibis styles hotels, with a restaurant for evening meals. Not all that easy to find when you first arrive in Chinon, so could be better signposted in the town. Newish hotel, so modern and clean with lovely grounds. Very helpful staff at reception.
Good location and nice rooms. Wi-fi was very difficult to stay connected after initial connection, and slow. Receptionist unhelpful until the third complaint when she mentioned that you need a different username and different password for every device!! Fitness center was dated and swimming pool enclosure had a broken glass pane with glass shards laying on the ground. Of 4 fitness machines, one did not work. Breakfast was excellent. All in all, a nice stay.
the position fantastic, the facilities were good enough. Strucutur well positioned in the limit of the town. Room really confortablewide and completely cleaned. So the in general the place could be fantastic even if the terrase on the etang was completely missing for a simple chair to see the moon and WIFI is completely not working.
Great location, just over the bridge but only a 5 min walk into town. Very quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room spotless, plenty of parking. Breakfast continental as you expect, with plenty of choice. We had evening meal twice, (restaurant closed on Thursday), and both times food was good. No tea making facilities in room, but there is a kettle and provisions in reception to help your self. Would certainly stay here again.
This Hotel is ideally situated, with ample private car parking and easy walk to the town.. It was very clean and comfortable with good size comfy beds and balcony. The staff were polite and professional. The food that was eaten was good and fresh. I would happily return.
We had a wonderful long weekend at the Ibid Styles hotel in Chinon. We were thrilled with everything. The staff are great, rooms great, beds are extremely comfortable. Churning is absolutely delightful and a short walk over the bridge. What topped it all off is how reasonable the prices are. Oh. And the beautiful weather. Definitely return. Thank you.
The view of Chinon Fortress from the balcony is truly stunning, especially when floodlit at night. The hotel is very well situated across the river from the old town, within easy walking distance. All the birds and second floor rooms have balconies with stunning views and chairs from which to enjoy them! There are well tended grounds and a pool with solarium.
Good location, and welcoming reception. General cleanliness in public areas needs attention, particularly windows and furniture. Rooms reasonably spacious feel due to good use of furniture and good wardrobe space. Problem with wash-hand basin pop-up waste (it didn't) Good selection of drinks at bar and quite a good range of breakfast items.
Great as a hideaway, and you can get there by train! An anniversary treat for the two of us. It would have helped if both the hotel had told us that the town bridge was closed for urgent repairs until end April, and that road signage had better indicated the diversion, but nevertheless this is a well located hotel, with uninterrupted views of the town across the river. Dinnerat Les Annees 30 in front of the fire was a big treat allowing one to wallow in Couly Duteil Chenin and Cabernet wines - purity personified.
Situated on the other side of the river Vienne, the hotel is in a quiet area and offers a beautiful view of Chinon and its castle. Be sure to ask for a 'room with a view'! Very comfortable bed, clean room and a good breakfast buffet.
Staff friendly and efficient, booking procedure clear, swimming pool welcome on hot day, room of expected standard for grade of hotel. Chinon lovely town and Greeter Walk recommended. Chateau very interesting and not too busy.
the view from the hotel is superb and there is no traffic noise There are not many hotels of this price with swimming pool (did not know so no trunks)and a fitness room. With superb grounds Rooms were good but no air con the only disappointment was the " packaged " food in the restaurant but it was still more that exceptable
A fantastic location with great views to the castle and 5 minutes walk into town. Very clean rooms with lovely balconies, great food and friendly staff. The location gives easy access to all the major Châteaus. We loved it.
Pleasantly surprised by quality location of hotel room with balcony and views of chateau. Facilities good including breakfast. Only down side design of WC which was very cramped would have been better in bathroom.
We stayed as a couple for three nights in mid September. We booked late and had a limited choice of rooms. We had to have a family room, so paid more than we had hoped. The hotel is slightly out of the town, a ten minute easy walk. This was a plus for us as the area is quiet and you sleep well. There is a car park to the front of the hotel. This was quite full for the duration of our stay as the hotel was quite busy. There is a school next to the hotel, and the area was busy at 8:00 and 18:00 with coaches picking up pupils, but was not a problem for us. Our room was a good size, with a settee, it was very clean with crisp bedding. We had a good view of the castle from a small balcony. We had breakfast, typical cold buffet style. On the first morning there was a limited choice as the member of staff on duty was slow to replenish, even though it was open for another hour and she was not busy. The other two mornings were ok. The choice could have been greater, one French hotel we stayed in on our trip offered boiled eggs. We appreciate that breakfast is not a big deal in France, but more imagination is needed here. We did not eat at the hotel in the evenings as there is a good range of places to eat in town. We did not use the pool or outside area. The staff on reception were all helpful and spoke good English (far better than my schoolgirl French). A couple of negatives. The hotel is busy, and has high rates of occupancy. However there is a lack of attention to detail. The curtain in our room was missing the last hook, and this was not rectified during our stay. I am sure that the management will comment that if we had brought it to their attention it would have been fixed. This is not the point, housekeeping should have picked it up, and it is a small job to fix it. The radiator in the hallway was not foxed to the wall and the fixing was left hanging. Rather unsightly. These are very small things and did not impact on our stay, but show attention to detail. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.
Found the hotel very wellcoming. Difficult travelling with small child after so many years. Room was perfect and extra bed well located. Staff were friendly and efficient and made sure that meals wre made easy - childrens menu . Situation in Chinon was really good right opposite Chateau.
Really enjoyed the overnight stay here on way to the Dordogne. Family room with a balcony overlooking the Fortress. Good nights sleep and a good relaxed breakfast. Staff helpful, parking good. Only negative was that the welcome pack for the kids wasn't offered, which would have been nice for them on their first night in France. Also a little more expensive than other Ibis Styles we looked at. Not far to walk up to the river and get a better look at the fortress.
Very good Quality / Price - Large enough room compare to cost - Very Nice view on the Chinon castle ( Pictures mandatory on the balcony!!!) Good noise insulation - Good beds Average quality of breadfast ( good enough but not more )
