Large room, small bath room, avoid the first floor (noisy on street side and and at the same level of the roof of the inside court roof, this not safe if you need to leave the window open. Great location; 3 minutes walk from train and trams stations. Goof breakfast, convenient bar for a late night drink
This hotel is clean and comfortable and quiet. We had a really good sleep. The rooms are very well equipped with everything you need. The only downsides - it is a tad soul-less (but most hotels are) and it is fair walk to the centre - however, it is very convenient to transport and there are a few hotels/restaurants nearby.
The hotel is conveniently located near Karlsruhe main station. It took a while to get checked in due to heavy booking and cancelations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well equipped. Nothing to complain about!
The hotel is centrally located right next to the central station and with convenient tram link right outside the door with easy access to the city centre. The rooms are clean and modern with the typical Ibis-style decor (meaning functional, but not necessarily charming) The breakfast is nice with a waffle maker as a bonus to the traditional buffet fare. The staff lets the place down, the check in staff were a bit gloomy but the bar staff was anything but friendly or helpful, it generally felt like they all wanted to be somewhere else.
very clean. Just 3 minutes walk from the train station. 4 tram stations from city center. Room on the same level as the platform. Not private. People can see us. We were not asked if that was ok for us.
Though in the centre of Karlsruhe the hotel was difficult to find, the road system not allowing access from one (obvious) direction. Road works added to the lack of ease in moving enjoyably about the city centre.
This post-office conversion provided me with convenient and comfortable accommodation for 2 nights. Mostly standard Ibis, but lobby area was particularly spacious owing to former function of the building.
Stayed here for 1 night travelling to Austria and 1 night returning, was perfect halfway overnight stay for us, also stayed here last August. Great location with local zoo nearby and trams leaving regularly from outside hotel entrance. Rooms are roomy, very clean and tidy, exceptionally comfortable beds. The breakfasts are excellent too. Anna Maria on reception/bar was especially polite and helpful, even brining drinks to our table on all stays. Will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended!!
Marvellous, large, quiet, brand new (it seems) hotel in a wonderful building right around the corner from the station forecourt. With a room-rate of only EUR55 when I stayed (on a Friday night), it was an absolute bargain. No warm food available at 11pm, so had to order a delivered take-away, which took 45 minutes.....
Stayed for two nights Fri/Sat. Efficient, friendly check-in. A bit concerned when entering the room to see we were literally on platform 1 of the Hbf but absolutely no noise at all from the station. Nice enough room, and although the walk-in shower was very good, overall the bathroom was a bit small. Having a tram stop on the doorstep was great for getting around this marvellous city easily. Did not have the breakfast as plenty of other options locally.
I stay in a lot of Ibis hotels, and this one has by far the worst service. I have an Accorcard, which gives my profile and states that I prefer a smoking room if one is available. At most hotels, this system works. At Ibis Karlsruhe it had no chance of working because they didn't check it. Indeed, the receptionist didn't even know that it existed. She said that they only checked the hotel profile, which isn't a lot of use if you haven't stayed at the hotel before. I had stayed there and had asked for a smoking room previously, but that wasn't on my profile. The duty manageress, who should have known didn't want to know but then changed my room for no reason to one that didn't suit me. When I asked later why it had been changed, the Receptionist didn't know why, then came out with an excuse of "there was a problem". I don't mind having to stay in a no smoking room but would like to have the opportunity of obtaining one using my Accor profile. The hotel itself is nice and very convenient for Karlsruhe Hbf. It is a shame that the management and staff are incompetent and do not use the systems that are there to help their customers.
The Ibis Karlsruhe hotel was convenient for us, we expected more the one plain chair and bench seemed cheesy (cheap-low budget stuff). Good bed, odd layout of bathroom. Nice friendly and helpful staff and a good breakfast. Would not stay there again - pricing was somewhat high for this facility.
The staff where very helpful and could not do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible, the rooms clean and bright. The bar was very inviting and the bar snacks were very appetising. Will be back in August.
A comfortable stay at a reasonable price with excellent and friendly staff, very clean Hotel and very comfortable and quiet rooms with nice beds and many TV channels in all languages available. The Hotel is in a great position to the Town centre 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes on the tram, the river Rhein is not far and can also be accessed by tram, train journeys to the Black Forest as Train station is very close. Great for business people on the move.
Standard as Ibis are ! Close to the station but you won't hear the trains. I personally hate the new bathroom cell. Room could be more silents : I hear easily the guy next door closing or opening his door or switching the lights. Happily he switched off synchronously with me
Everything was very efficient and made simple. The room was a good size and all the items in the room worked well. It is just a short walk from the main Hbf. Good location for anyone visiting the city to look around
Room was large, with a super comfortable bed, great shower and everything very clean and new. Beautiful building inside and outside too. Doesn't feel like a budget hotel at all - it's really nice. Rooms are sound proof, and don't worry about the station nearby, you can't hear a thing with the windows closed (we even faced the station and it was fine). Safe parking on site. Breakfast is typical Ibis style, you're better to go elsewhere before paying extra for it here.
This hotel has no free wifi and they offer wifi connection in lobby only. They want 6 EUR/day. But speed is very poor, 3 MB/15 minutes in Thursday 3.10.2013. If you are looking for standart hotel with wifi this is not good choice.
Would have given a 5 excellent rating if not for the road construction just outside the hotel. Room is very clean and service is good. Hopefully they will have free wifi service inside the rooms as well, as now only the lobby has it. But the per day use wifi rate is also very cheap so Im ok with it. Parking is not free but the hotel waived it for me so I'm happy.
We always stay at IBIS Hauptbanhof Karlsruhe when passing through southern Germany. The ex postal building has some character and although the location is a little way from the centre the walk alongside the Zoo park is always pleasant. Parking is a little bit of a problem is the street outside has roadworks but there is a small hotel car park.
