As a business traveller, I am staying at many hotels and I am only staying within the Accor Group of hotels. The Ibis Suwon unfortunately doesn't belong to my top facilities. On my last trip I arrived from Hong Kong where I stayed at the Novotel Kowloon. The Novotel has nice room sizes, nice bathroom settings and is overall very friendly. The Ibis Suwon was a bit of a shock. My room was on the 12th floor with a nice view onto another wall. The room's carpet hadn't been cleaned for a very long time (dirt in the corners and staines). Definitely not a room where I would walk barefoot (in HK no problems). The I discovered the bath cubicle - yes - a bath cubicle as you would usually be used to from the Formula 1 hotels. No place where you could leave your shaver, indeed anything. They cramped the toilet, the shower and everything else into a tiny space. Let's call it practical but sure not nice.
Because I stay always with Accor, the Ibis was the only choice in Suwon. All other Accor Hotels were too far away; so I had to stay there. But following the nice environment of the Novotel in Kowloon this Ibis wasn't pretty.
The English skills of the staff was very limited (which is OK but unexpected).
Last but not least, charging 22,000 WON for the breakfast is steep. It wasn't bad but when I tried ordering a poached egg, no-one could understand, so I just settled for a sunny side up.
The Ibis Suwon is OK - but just OK. Except if you love heated toilet seats, then it's great :)
