As we were celebrating a birthday and our Navroze(New Year), and were going to stay for 7 nights, we had emailed the hotel almost a month prior to our stay and had requested for a room on the top floor in a quiet area. After 2 email reminders, Mr Ellyas from Ibis had confirmed that we would be given a nice room on a higher floor, as top priority. When we checked in, we were given a room on the 3rd floor, which was not a "higher floor". The top floor at Ibis is the 9th floor. We told the lady who checked us in that we had been given an email confirmation for a room on a higher floor, but she said that the hotel was full and no rooms were available. We even showed her the email confirmation, but she refused.
We asked to meet the GM Mr Ramesh, but were told that he was on vacation. We asked to meet the Duty Manager who told us to wait for 20 mins. and she would "see what she could do". Afterwards, she came and gave us the key to a room on the 9th floor. If according to the lady who checked us in, the hotel was full, how was a room suddenly available on the top floor ?? Why is Accor always treating its Gold card members in such a shabby way ?
The room was the typical Ibis room, so we knew what to expect. The carpet in the room looked very worn out and the water in the bathroom basin had a bad taste and smell, throughout our stay. The passage outside the room was very noisy every night, with room doors banging constantly.
This was our 4th stay at Ibis.
