Disappointed in this hotel. Always been happy with previous Ibis. This was a tired and neglected hotel. Wouldn’t have chosen it if seen it beforehand. Staff though very friendly and helpful. Good location especially for rail museum which was our main reason for the visit. Car parking expensive and although we paid up front couldn’t be guaranteed a place if we moved the car!!!!this was bad.

Always enjoy here-Ibis chain, but not the same cooperative theme as the rest of the chain; great location too by the railway and city walls, so nowhere is too much of a walk; the rooms have more character too

York is very expensive but ibis rates not justified even on a Saturday evening for what were two very dated rooms with loose carpet and cold shower. Positives were that although narrow the beds in twin rooms were relatively comfortable and you do get a brew in your room.

We have stayed here several times and found it an excellent hotel. The room was large, food very good and the staff were very helpful. City centre was only a short walk away. Will we return again, yes we will.

We were really pleased with the Ibis York hotel. The room was clean, of a good size, warm and in good condition. The beds were really comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was clean, the heater was on so the room was toasty warm for us once we checked in. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to check in early, but were able to leave our bags if we wanted while we meandered around. We ate at the restaurant and had a lovely meal consisting of pizza, sweet potato fries and a salad which was ample for 2 people.

I have stayed many times at the York Ibis and the standard is generally good. The only issue is the mixers in the shower which I repeatedly find very difficult to obtain the right temperature. Also, this time I had to boil the kettle to have a wash as I couldn't get any hot water out of the basin tap. The biggest issue is the parking which has, for many years been free. I was shocked to find the last time it had gone up to £21 (Jul 2017) over three days and even more shocked to find it is now (Jan 2018) £28 over three days. In addition, the car park is small and I was blocked in on one of the days of my stay. Though i've remained loyal to the York Ibis I am not as committed to it as I might have been in the past. However, it is generally good value for money and a comfortable stay despite the issues raised above.

It's located outside the city's walls but a short walk to the railway station and Micklegate. Not a hassle as the best way to see York is on foot. The hotel has creaky floors and different levels on each floor which makes hauling heavy suitcases around a tad difficult. However, just ask for a room on the same level as the lifts.

The room was clean but felt we were in a less than perfect part of the hotel. Walls had only been part painted in the corridors. Window in the room was black with mound and very difficult to open to get any fresh air. Condensation was bad, especially in the bathroom as the extractor fan didn’t work . Bed was comfortable and clean. Fresh towels each day.

room wasn't as booked and wasn't changed despite further request from twin to double. Noise in the hotel prevented sleep for both nights until well into the early hours. A broken bulb wasn't repaired despite requests. I suffered a nose bleed on the first night and sheets were not changed for the second night despite a request. Reception less than helpful. The hotel advertises parking which we paid £7 a night for and on the second night there was no parking available, advised nearest parking was a 15 minute walk away. No refund as they had no record of us having paid. The location of the hotel was nice and a short walk into the main town centre. We wouldn't be staying again. On feeding this back to the manager, his response was that it will affect improvements in the future however that didn't help us during our stay and they still haven't changed the information on their website to indicate that there is very limited parking, so changes if they happen may take some time to occur

A bit of a walk into centre of York. Good car park on sight. Excellent breakfast. Room needed a bit of maintenance. Clean and all you needed. Staff all friendly and helpful. One tip is the Ibis sign should be more visible! We saw it...just..but if it had been at night with no sat ac we would not have.

Great service, from the greeting, cleaning, dining and bar use; accessible hotel from all attractions of York; we will certainly use it again for leisure too-breakfast was excellent and yet it was quiet even on the main road

I booked this hotel because of the location and car parking facility. Only to find that parking was charged - this was not evident on the website, so was slightly taken aback when charged on arrival. The other problem with the parking was not being able to park when returning from trips. Reception hopefully have refunded and suggested parking in another car park at nearly double the price or off-street parking down the road....both suggestions unsatisfactory. Location was great. I had breakfast elsewhere because I thought it was overpriced. Bed was comfortable enough.

Only 8 minute walk from station and few minutes to gate into city. Lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs next to hotel. Hotel basic but clean and lovely helpful staff. Would recommend if not wanting a posh hotel.

Dear Sirs, I find would like to complain about quite frankly the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. I will list them below and then maybe someone can provide me we an email address so I can follow up in detail 1) The room smelt like it had severe plumbing issues from the moment we checked in 2) Hair in shower plughole 3) Could the beds be any narrower? 4) Stains and marks on both sets of sheets in our room 5) Awful shower pressure 6) Terrible bar service 7) No one seemed to care about my issues when I mentioned it 8) Dirty carpets with matted hair in several places, when was the last time it was hoovered? Quite frankly how you can justify charging £150 for that room I do not know! I look forward to your response and a full refund, simply disgusting. Regards John

Good value for the money, with pleasant and attentive staff. Accommodation was straightforward with the usual amenities and no problems were encountered during the stay. Breakfast was plentiful and there was a good variety.

Thank you to all the team at Ibis York, it was a lovely weekend. The hotel was clean, quiet, the breakfast was great - just what we expected. I also asked for a room with the view and I got it so it was very nice of the team. Would definitely recommend for friends or couples visiting York :).

We always search for room in an Ibis hotel, when we plan a trip. And every time, we get an excellent treatment and a good sleep, and in the morning a good breakfast. The people, who work at Ibis Hotels are always very friendly and helpful.

This place is like a converted student house! The shower room felt terrible & the towels were appalling (take your own) the carpets required you to keep your shoes on to feel the quality! Only a 10 minute walk to the centre but not a safe feeling walk. The only plus side was the bed & the fact we didn't spend much time there!! Oh & the parking wasn't too bad at £7 per night. The actual price I thought was a rip off. My advise stay somewhere else.

Convent for the city centre and reasonably quiet at night. Hotel external appearance looking a bit tired but inside is clean and tidy. Reception staff were very helpful with advice and local information.
