I'm not one of those who need a 20-star service from my hotel. I'm happy with a bright and airy room, a clean and comfortable bed, a hot shower, and a reliable (and free) Internet. In all those regards, this hotel delivers.
It's some way away from downtown Aix, but is well served by public transportation, so that is not an issue. Reaching the hotel from the airport or T.G.V. is also seamless. The area is quiet so one is able to get good-quality sleep.
The hallways are a bit dingy, but the rooms are modern, newly furnished and furbished, with decent views. As it's a budget hotel, there's no refrigerator (I wish there was one, but it's not a big deal) or room service. Breakfast and, I believe, other meals can be bought separately, although I just got sandwiches and such from a convenience store across the freeway.
One thing I REALLY appreciated was free Internet. So many hotels seem to think that Internet is some kind of a luxury, so I'm extremely happy Ibis recognizes that it's a commodity and is these days as essential as running water.
Altogether, the hotel met and exceeded my expectations. Ibis proves that it IS possible to run a comfortable hotel with many conveniences and features of high-end chains for fifty bucks per night. The fact that the reception seems to be busy most of the time with guests coming and going attests to that.
THANK YOU, IBIS!
