Stayed at Ibis Ambassador Myeongdong for 2 nights during my trip to Seoul and it was really pleasant. No doubt the hotel itself is kind of old and small, the location is superb. Airport limousine bus stops right in front of the hotel and the bustling shopping scene is just a few steps away. I am also very thankful to have received staff John's assistance when I fell horribly sick during my 2nd day stay. He advised on the nearest hospital to go to (clinics are closed due to Chuseok festival) grabbed a taxi for me, and told the driver the location in Korean. He did also asked if I was better during the check out. Should I be visiting Korea again, Ibis Ambassador Myeongdong will definitely be the top hotel on my list to stay.
The hotel is in Myeongdong so it is close to some good shopping and the Seoul KTX station, which is why we chose. We had a train to catch early the next morning. Check in was easy and the welcome drink appreciated. However, the room smelled a little mouldy when we entered and it is not possible to open any windows. I am not a huge fan of air conditioners but this was the only way to get any air movement. The room itself was ok and clean and it is ibis, so it is not a star but serviceable.
Greetings from Singapore! Many thanks to Chris and the rest of the hotel staff for your friendly and warm hospitality throughout my stay. I would definitely return when I plan to visit Seoul again. Thank you once again!
Staff at counter are very helpful and room is very clean. However, I suggest hotel provide bottle water to customer. Many hotels are provide this service to customer. I don't think it is very expensive.
Room is acceptable though rather small for the price I paid. Bath room is exceptionally cramp. The room is cleaned and comfortable. Not sure why the reception has to be at the top floor, causing a lot of inconveniences especially during check out. Check in counter staff were helpful and friendly.
Always stay this hotel because good service and good location. But this time , we have problem because someone can open the door during my sister sleep on the bed. We already informed manager about the problem
We have 4 luggages and we were not helped. The reception is on the 19th floor and our room is on the 12th floor. The information is on the floor. We carried our luggages ourselves all the way with no help from the hotel. We asked for help but they said they don't have service for that. Even without that service, humanitarianly, they should go out of their way to help. I was so disappointed and frustrated. One more thing, as a Accorplus member, i was not entitled to two complimentary water after 1st day. I told the receptionist that it is better then not to be a member and i will be able to get the complimentary water after the 1st day. She just said sorry.
The hotel staff are helpful. They were able to offer help when I approached. The hotel room was clean and tidy. However, I wish all of your staff at the reception and the information counter could speak better English.
Our 2nd time stay at the hotel. Very comfortable and efficient staffs. Good hotel to stay in for holiday. The room is however a bit too warm as it is controlled to 26.7 degree Celcius. It is way too hot for us. Wish we could control room temperature as it is controlled by the main.
Good service. Good breakfast. Late check-out was great (until 17h). Bus direct to the airport. It was the best Ibis that I stayed (better than Shangai and Rio, the same level than Singapore). Great location.
We love the location of the hotel and the hotel staff were polite. What was disappointing was that during our stay, the water and electricity was shut for maintenance at 2am on 13th May. Even though a notification was issued a day before, we would really appreciate if such information was provided when we booked the hotel or during check-in. To some extent, we felt cheated. During that time, there were loud door closings as other neighbours did not seem to know about the maintenance. Just to share, I am a Silver Accor Hotels member but the staff told us that we were not entitled to late check out (at 2pm) even though we booked the Junior Suite. The cleaner did a great job at maintaining our room and we really appreciate that. The hotel staff was prompt in answering requests. We had an incident which the light bulb fused and they were quick to get it replaced. The hotel however feels old and we noticed that there were algae at the borders of the carpet around the entire room. We had a bit of difficulty in adjusting the water temperature as the tap felt loose. We appreciate new toiletries that were given to us each day. To prevent wastage of the toothbrushes, we would like to suggest to the hotel to issue tubes of toothpaste instead of packing the small pack of toothpaste with the toothbrush. Overall, we had a good stay as the hotel is super convenient for us to get to everywhere. Arrival from the hotel via the airport limousine was seamless. This was the defining factor for us to decide to stay at the hotel eventually and possibly in the future. Hope more improvements may be made =)
Location was excellent. Very near the hotels are the subway going to various places and the underground shopping centers. Customer service personnels were very helpful. No bellboy, have to carry own luggage to the 19th flr. Aircon was centralized, so had to call frontdesk all the time to adjust the room temperature.
To be honest the hotel is a tad old in terms of the room and its interior.....it can do with a bit of sprucing up! The room we stayed in was a constant 25 degrees although we have tweaked it to the lowest 20 degrees for many a times.....besides these negative points....the bath room is modern....like a space pod! But the main attribute of this hotel is the location......when u come to stay in a unfamiliar place its all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Its smack in the spot of MeyongDong the area of food, shopping and culture! Its close proximity to major train stations are very close and the airport bus stops right in front of the hotel! What more convenient than that!
Ibis Ambassador hotel is a great hotel in every way location & room rate . I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning to visit Seoul. The hotel staffs are very helpful. The location is great very convenience ,its walking distance to the market specially myeudong market.
I decided to spend 5 nights as an Accor member at this hotel for the second time because of three reasons: (1) good prior experience, (2) very strategic location (airport bus stop in front of the doorstep, Myeongdong area, very close to train station, etc), and (3) because I had an event being held in the neighborhood. The first 3 nights were fine - fast check in process and the room was okay. And because I planned to spend most time out of the room, I didn't mind that the TV Cable offered limited choice of English-speaking channels. The problem started on the fourth night. After spending very long day at the event I attended, I expected a very nice sleep in my room. However, in 2am in the morning, I suddenly woke up from my sleep because I felt really hot, and I was shocked to find that my room was totally dark. No light. No electricity. No water flush on the toilet. No AC. No TV. No electricity at all. I tried to ring the receptionist but it failed. So, I went out of my room - go to the receptionist desk and asking what had happened. And the receptionist girl just showed me a piece of paper saying that the hotel cut off the electricity in all rooms because of the government order. When I asked the receptionist how I should sleep in a room without lights - very very dark - she answered "there is an emergency light in your room, you can use that". When I asked about AC - as the room was very hot without it - she said very lightly "You can open your window, it will make your room cooler." Great! Why didn't she just suggest me to move out from the room and sleep in the lobby area? If the electricity maintenance program was something that the government ordered, why didn't Ibis tell me when I made my reservation? Why didn't Ibis say something about it when I checked in? Why didn't Ibis tell me in the first 3 day of my staying? Why did Ibis just tell me after I complained at the receptionist desk in the middle of the night? And what kind of solutions did Ibis offered when the guest couldn't sleep in a very very very dark room without AC? Were "turning on the emergency light" and "open the window in the room" the official solutions that Ibis suggested to all the guest? Does this whole thing show the best quality that Ibis can offer to its guests? It is unfair that I have to pay a hotel service, and what I got was a room without electricity.
This was my second time stayed at this hotel. Located in the heart of Myeongdong area. Heaven for cosmetics and skin care. Easy access to and from the airport. The bus stop is in front of the hotel. There're two subway station nearby: Euljiro 1 ga (5 minutes walk) and Myeongdong (10 minutes walk).
Excellent customer service from the minute you reached the facilities. It is located in a very nice area with an nice views of the city. High speed internet. Friendly and helpful staff that speak English.
Good location, nice staff, have a shuttle to tourist attraction, near subway, near myeongdong shopping complexs, comfort beds, breakfast ok, we will be back and recomended to friends and relation. Overall Good
Across the property: - Wall paper peeling - Carpet across the property was stained, damp and mouldy Saving grace: - Breakfast - Staff were helpful - View from the 19th floor - Location - Housekeeping did their best to tidy the rooms Shocked, will not go back unless the property gets properly renovated
If the air conditioning can be controlled from the room if be great. The carpet do need refurbishing. Greatvlocation to stay as location is very near to tourist area. Plenty of shopping and food around the hotel.
