tried to email for December booking an was ignored. Smell from sink when water was run. heating was poor. Wi-Fi was pretty goood bed, 1st visit was poor with a dip. 2nd visit much better but nothing great

We have been visiting this hotel for the past 3 years, however this year the standards have dropped, the room we were 1st in, the drains smelt and were asked to move, then the room we were in had no heating and were given a small heater, and we were still cold! The room could have done with a good clean and bedsheets needed cleaning along with the toilet, I know it’s a budget hotel, but we feel this hotel is losing its appeal

Check in staff were so rude. They couldn’t find my booking under my name - could have been because when I spelled my name he was chatting to his colleague. I then had to rummage about for booking confirmation, while he tutted. This wasn’t good enough because, their booking confirmation, didn’t have a confirmation number on it. Told in a threatening tone, that if I couldn’t provide a confirmation number I wouldn’t have a room as they were fully booked! Passed to another member of staff and I had to search through emails on my phone to find an email. Eventually got checked in, while 2 staff members muttered to each other. The heating in the hotel was broken so it was freezing. We heard other guests complaint about numerous things. We over heard that the heating had broken the day before but housekeeping went home at 3 o’clock so it couldn’t be fixed? Surely they should have got maintenance in not housekeeping to fix heating. We weren’t offered breakfast.

Room was fine. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was poor this time and coffee machine was out of order. Only person having breakfast. Overall good value apart from breakfast which is not worth paying extra for until coffee machine is fixed

Perfect accommodation, clean, simple, great location for everything we needed. Comfortably slept 3 adults across 2 rooms. Shower was great and both beds comfortable. A very clever use of space with hanging rail and everything.

we stay here in Southampton before setting off on our cruise holiday every year, its close to the terminals and shopping trips for last minute items in town is easily accessible by walking. Also close to cinema and restaurants for an evening out, or relaxing enough to just chill.

Quick flying visit to break up a weekend of driving couldn't fault the place as it was legit some to sleep for a couple of hours before hitting the road again, We arrived in the very early hours of the morning after being at a show nearly 2hrs away but this was a stop gap before the following rest of trip having arrived at 1.30am the staff were brilliant to us although very tired they couldn't do enough asking if we wanted hot drinks before bed or if they could assist in anyway

Nice hotel which is great value for money. It's not 5* but you certainly get great value for the price. Would stay again for a weekend. It is close to the town centre and shops which is very useful. Ikea is just next door too. Cheers.

this hotel provided a bed toilet and shower without any frills - it is a budget hotel. however the corridors were filthy and the security guard after midnight very unwelcoming. otherwise it was what it said on the tin

For us this was an interim stop during a longer trip. It was handy for walking over with luggage from Soton Central station. We're regular users of Ibis Budget on the continent, and this matched our expectations exactly.

Floor filthy - marks on pillowcase and duvet cover and sink not cleaned - blob of blue toothpaste still in it. Also the small bed light would not switch off - had to cover it up with a carrier bag sellotape diver to try and sleep - lucky had eye mask but it still let the light through. Why didn't I change rooms you ask? I was absolutely knackered and was too tired to go and complain and repack everything and change rooms. Complained about it all in the morning though.

One of the front desk staff was not knowledgeable of the area, but another intervened and answered our questions. Room was sort of an enigma; not marked as a handicapped room but definitely was. This leads us to believe that all of the rooms are similarly equipped. Huge bathroom. The shower had no tub or shower stall, but was designed with a shower curtain in one area, a floor drain, and lots of grab bars in the shower and commode areas. Great for a wheelchair if needed. Poor lighting over the sink and lack of a shelf or soap dish in the shower were annoying. No vanity but a shelf above the commode. Breakfast not worth the extra price; suggest going next door to McDonalds. We had to do that anyway since the coffee pot in the dining area was not operable 2 of our 3 days. Convenient to the bus station, and major shopping. Walkable to one of their 4 cruise ship piers.

I know this has budget in its name -however, our stay was very poor. The hotel is located well for access to the cruise terminal and the city centre. The room was clean and tidy -no problem there. The bed was uncomfortable and the room temperature too warm at night time but was unable to regulate with the controls. There were large groups of ‘youngish’ people staying in the hotel and on our second night, they were shouting down the corridor around midnight. This continued and even woke us up at 4:30 pm as they shouted down the corridor. When we went to check out there was no one around to ask us how our stay was so I was unable to give any feedback. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless all other hotels are taken or completely out of your budget.

The staff were all great the room was eerie and fresh the hotel staff were fantastic the housekeeping excellence in particular Martha was a credit to your company I have already booked for next year before my cruise

Never again.great trade in McDonalds fourth floor too noisy no sleep up since 6am the morning before.10pm till 4am queuing outside fastfood.plenty fighting singing shouting.ibis across and novelt hotel also in same area.

If you want a peaceful nights sleep, I advice you pay the extra and sleep at the Ibis across the road. At least there you might get a cup to use along with the breakfast you paid £5.95 for. The noise from the street is horrendous. 2 plugs in the whole room and none near a mirror. Horrid smell from the drain when I used the water or flushed the loo. Room slept 3, was barely big enough for one 5'2" person. Only decent thing was the wifi. Good luck!

Simple online booking of room, warm friendly welcome by all, straight forward check in, sufficiently equipped and very clean room and quick check out. Very helpful staff. Good value and could not fault.

Great staff! Really helpful and professional. Lovely coffee. Super shower, and lots of lovely unbleached linen. Very convenient location but a bit noisy, rows in the car park and dock noise. Overall a satisfactory stay.

The hotel is ideally placed for shopping, bars and was as expected for a budget hotel. very clean and a comfortable bed. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay at this location again.

For a 1 night stay, it was adequate. There are some really negative reviews, but perhaps their expectations was not in line. You cannot compare a luxury car with a budget car for instance.. What I liked: Room was decent sized, bed was comfy, power shower was amazing, sink was in the room (concept was different), LED dim lights. Simple/Basic but very functional. I was facing the parking lot and not on the ground floor (requsted this), and it was very quiet. Guido from reception was very quick to respond to emails I had prior to the trip. What they could have improved: Breakfast was basic, but it's not bad, toilet a bit clausterphobic, and I'm sure 'bigger' people will find this an issue, why only a bar or soap? We also need to wash our hair! Aircon was a bit underpowered, but it was fine really. Not intuitive AC controls. Other: Heard another guest complain about the £7 parking, but I've seen this mentioned several times up to my arrival at the hotel, do they not read? Besides, on budget airlines, you pay for the check in lugguage, how is this different? Do you complain about this? Anyhow, as long as your expectations are in line with what a budget hotel is, then you should have a decent stay (oh, and if you want quiet, request a room facing the car park and not the 24h McDonalds!)
