One night stay for show at Motorpoint Arena nearby. Excellent reception and good parking availability. Rooms very basic but clean and well maintained ; great for just sleeping in and bathroom facilities.

This hotel says it in the name - Budget. However it’s not a bad thing. The location is ideal and the price is great. However you do not get small luxories like Travelodge I.e kettles etc. The one thing that annoyed me was the parking. We informed the hotel in advance that we would be arriving late (past midnight) due to travelling. I understand the parking is first come first serve and upon arrival there was only 1 disabled space available in the car park. We asked if we could park there because we were both tired but would move it to a free space the following morning but we were told no and that we had to find parking else where. We then had to lug all of our stuff in the middle of the night from the car to the hotel, to then move the car again the following day back to the hotel car park. This then meant we had to pay twice for both separate parking (the on street was not cheap so we couldn’t leave it there for the whole of our stay)

Really enjoyed our stay in Cardiff. Great location, friendly staff, moden clean room. Rooms are a little small and compact but would recommend for the price. No kettle in room but free tea and coffee in lobby.

Bought the hotel just somewhere to stay after a night out, room was so poorly cleaned and 1 out of 3 plugs worked in the room!! When reported nothing was done!! Furious!! Honestly if your looking for a dirty unclean room then here’s your place!!

It's a budget hotel so don't expect shower gel (though a small soap was supplied) or anything more than 1 thin pillow per guest. But so long as you know what to expect the hotel is modern, comfortable - and there is free tea and coffee available in reception. Having to pay for parking (£4) is a pain as it isn't in the city centre and other budget brands in the vicinity don't. Bottom line: not as good as Premier Inn or Travelodge but if the price is right, go for it.

Very poor for a IBIS hotel. Heating not working and, only one quilt to attempt to keep warm, because of this. Said in hotel description "town centre" but, a good 10 mins walk, out of town. Only continental breakfast that was poor value for money. Will never use IBIS again, on the basis of this.

Stayed at Ibis budget as it is a 5 minute walk from Motorpoint Arena where we were attending a concert. The hotel is in a commercial area of offices etc so there are no local shops/restaurants that I could find. Cardiff centre is a 20 minute walk away but not sure you d want to walk it at night. On arrival the staff were friendly and efficient. Our FAMILY room was small with a pod bathroom. It was very difficult to shower and get dressed so I had to leave the room for my teenage daughter to get ready. The room was fairly clean, bedding was a little tired and marked. the heating worked well and probably because we were exhausted we slept well. Free tea /coffee available in reception, free wi fi and vending machines selling very expensive snacks. For £36 in a city centre it was adequate, however in future I would book a hotel with a bathroom.

Standard Ibis Hotel, met our needs with the room size and the staff service. Complimentary wifi and tea in the lobby was much appreciated. Space and shower was good too. TV channels could do with an update, but not a necessity. The room was clean, but a rogue hair every so often was found from those who had stayed before. The heater also conked out at one point, but was easily fixed. Overall, a standard two-day stay.

The hotel & room were clean and tidy & helpful staff. Just one issue, small car park! Given the number of rooms, it was a case of first come first serve or park for that matter. Had to make separate arrangements in a NCP car park.

Hotel was very tidy and clean and staff were very pleasant upon arrival and departure. Room was what we were expecting from a budget hotel, very small with the single bed over the top of the double bed. Unlimited tea and coffee was very welcome but was in reception and not in rooms. Disappointed that price of room can differ so much, we paid £130 for a Saturday night yet same room is about £35 during the week!! Also a £4 charge to park in the hotel car park after paying £130 is a bit much!! Happy enough with hotel and room though, just not the price situation.

Excellent nighty rate per room, very basic room but is good enough for one or a couple nights stay. Very basic accommodation, but did the job. I generally use this hotel for one night stays, as it's great for somewhere to crash, but I don't spend a lot of time there.

The staff were friendly and is convenient for the centre of town. The hotel was clean and quiet. There were plenty of croissants, meat and cheese available for breakfast. The bed was more comfortable than some much more expensive hotels but the pillows were a bit tired.

Hotel is clean and comfortable, reasonably priced. It has a car park on site, which is meant to be £4 a night, but they gave it for free. It is close to city centre , only a short walk to the shops and the rugby.

Paid over the odds for the room but as it was rugby weekend we expected that. Arrived just before 12pm and were allowed to check in straight away, which was a godsend after 4 hours driving. Room was clean, basic and just what we needed. Easy walk to the city (didn't need taxis- hurray!!) and we were allowed to keep our car in the car park the following day while we popped to the shops for a browse. Quiet hotel at night which was a surprise considering it was a rugby weekend. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Lady on the Sunday waived the car park charges as we'd paid a lot for the room- a small gesture but very much appreciated. Would recommend hotel based on location and staff for a budget weekend away.

Unlike in other Ibis budgets I have stayed in, there was no soap/shampoo provided, either by the washbasin or in the shower. In addition, there was no hairdryer provided and there was not an electric socket anywhere near to the mirror so that one could dry one's hair comfortably.

I was at the Motorpoint Arena for a conference this hotel was convenient clean and comfortable with good value parking at the Novotel next door it was quiet at night too just the job I didn’t bother with breakfast I walked up to the town I’d definitely stay again 👍

Having stayed 2 weeks previously and complained about 1 lift being out of order and the other in use by the cleaners, I was emailed by the hotel before my stay to assure me the problem had now been solved ! Sorry but the exact problem was encountered, 10 minute wait for lift to go to breakfast and a furthur 10 minute wait to get from room to check out. Why lie to customers if problems have not been solved ?

Very bad organisation. Had a day added to the beginning of my stay over the phone and staff didn't put it on the system. Door key kept deactivating after the first day, and we were told to move out of the room the day before the end of our stay because the staff made a mistake on the system a couple of times and never bothered fixing it. We were forced to explain everything a couple of times. Never got told about free coffee/ tea services (website states that the charge is applied). Didn't feel welcome at all. Also cleaning staff must have dropped my shampoo and squeezed half of it out because when we came back to the room it was sitting neatly on the shelve but HALF OF IT WAS GONE!

Not sure where they get budget from...booked room for a stag night. £120/night for a hospital-esque room complete with plastic sheet is not good value for money. Half it, it's not justifiable. Then charged £4 to park!

Bear in mind that this is a budget hotel, so you will not get more than you pay for. Thanks to the receptionist for allowing me to check in and pick up my room key at midday, as soon as I arrived in Cardiff. My room on the 4th floor was quiet and very clean, had a reasonable view from the window and (apart from shampoo) supplied all my essential needs. Although it was well laid out, two people would have found the room too small and the narrowness of the toilet might have given a larger person claustrophobia. No extra blankets or pillows were available, and no kettle, so, in order to get a hot drink, although I had bought teabags and coffee in my luggage, I'd have had to take the lift down to the lobby to help myself to the complimentary tea or coffee provided there. I didn't bother, especially as only one lift was working during the four days of my stay. I was glad to discover that I could open the window for fresh air and that the mattress was very comfortable. The shower took a very long time to produce hot water in the mornings; I think the plumbing system may need tweaking. My only real complaint is that the digital clock display on the wall mounted TV screen was so bright and blue that on my first night it kept me awake for several hours in the middle of the night. I didn't solve this problem until I had covered the clock with a piece of card which I stuck to the screen. If you are planning to stay at this hotel I recommend you pack a roll of sellotape and do the same.
