I stayed here last year and had a very enjoyable stay. This year was different. At check-in I was asked if I wanted to pay for the whole stay (8 nights) or just 3 or 4 nights. I asked the receptionist what they thought was best and the reply was that it was up to me, so I decided to pay for 3 nights. What WASN'T made clear was that in making this decision my booking was changed to a 3 night booking. So when I returned to the hotel after work on the 4th day, my key didn't work and when I enquired at reception was told that I didn't check out, my room had been cleared and packed into rubbish bags and was brought to reception. I said that I had a booking for 8 nights but was told that as I had only paid for 3 nights, then I didn't have an 8 night booking. I asked why this wasn't made clear to me at check-in because if it was, I would've paid the whole lot but there was no reply or apology for the inconvenience. When I asked if I could have a room, I was told the hotel was full that night so I needed to find another hotel. It was also my birthday and I was due to head out for dinner with colleagues. At a loss of what to do I spent the next hour trying to contact colleagues for assistance and I should say the receptionist did find availability at the IBIS in Altona, but I chose this place because of it's great location to where I was working and of course the price. After an hour, I had to head out so I asked if I could leave my work stuff at reception and return to pick it up after dinner asking their assistance in finding another room. The receptionist did say that there were people still to check-in and if they had not by 10pm then the room can be given to me. I went to dinner, managed to secure the couch for the night in the accommodation of 2 colleagues if needed. But I was relieved after getting another colleague to call the hotel to find that there was a room available and that it would be held for me. So in the end it worked out and I managed to stay - I do like this place, it's location, value for money but I won't stay here again. So while I have some positive things to say about the place overall I was disappointed, very disappointed - I may have been less so, if someone had at least apologies for the miscommunication and for the inconvenience on my birthday.

Actually quite good for an Ibis budget.....inconsistent Accor Gold benefits??????.....good quiet room, great seedy Reeperbahn location...but as many other reviews have said........what about the internet connection...is Hamburg in a third-world country????

I stayed on this hotel, paying around 100€ per night and I was chocked when I notice that the wifi on my room wasn't working and went to the reception and the receptionist explained to me that they are aware of the problem for a long time (5/6 months) but ibis management doesn't care. Nowadays, having wifi on the room is always useful, but special when you're traveling for business. So, the hotel has high rates but not even the expected quality for a ibis budget.

Better than expected. Well it is cheap for city hotel, but it is clean and quite nice. Breakfast is good, with basic continental food. The employés in reception were nice and friendly. The mattress although is too hard for me. All in all a positive experience.

It is a budget hotel so the rooms are simple but practical. The most necessary things are found in the rooms. The location is quiet considering the location two blocks from Reeperbahn. No carpet on the floors so it has a fresh and clean feeling.

Ideal location, close to subway station, plenty of restaurants, bars etc within easy walking distance, but not noisy. Helpful and professional staff. Lockers available to leave luggage. Standard buffet breakfast, everything working and very clean. Only two issues, the beds are a small foam mattress on a hard base, may not be suitable for light sleepers, and the free wifi (in my room anyway) was patchy at best.

I stayed here as part of my first visit to Hamburg and although the hotel was clean and tidy the stay was ruined by the lack of in-room wifi. Given that this has been raised on trip advisor numerous times with the manager addressing the issue as far back as May to continue to imply that there is a wifi service is deplorable and tantamount to false advertising. We are in 2016 guys, if you advertised this accommodation without wifi most people would likely consider a rival hotel - we both know that and I suspect why you continue to disappoint your customers.

I really got nothing bad to say! Its a great hotel for being budget! Room was really nice and perfect for just sleeping. Only thing was the showerdoor not keeping tight and water ran out, but easy clean up! Recomend this place!!

Seriously the best option for a budget hotel. Location is perfect, Reeperbahn 2 min. walking. Hotel is very good, friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Also the metro is around the corner.

Dear, All in all the room was ok, except then for the shower door. the door does not close properly anymore and as a result the water leaks on the floor when showering. This costs extra in cleaning the towels and is less attractive for the guest of course :-) Kind regards, Koen

We booked a spontaneous getaway to Hamburg for 2 nights. We left the same day we booked and, when we first observed the building, we found it very nice looking. The staff member was very helpful. The room was very clean, spacious and I enjoyed my stay there thoroughly. The shower was working perfectly: something that is often overlooked at other establishments I've used in the past. The breakfast option is a must! For €7.50, one can get a hearty breakfast with a good selection of meats, cereal, fruits and so on; it also helps one to get up early, even after a late night. The location of the hotel is very good for those who wish to have a good night of partying in St. Pauli area. Even though it is in a lively area, I was never disturbed by noise or anything of the sort. The hotel is in a great location for visiting Landungsbrücke (for a nice view of the Elbe), the Elbtunnel, the Schanzenviertel, the Altstadt. One is just a 30 minute walk from the Rathaus and Mönckebergstaße (a main shopping street). I would suggest walking to view Hamburg from the ground. You are 15 minutes away from St. Michael's Church (Michel), a must for tourists who wish to view Hamburg from a height. All in all, when I return to Hamburg, I would most definitely stay here again.

Fifth time now I have stayed at this hotel and can recommend if you want a decent hotel for less. I used the self check in before I arrived but the desk clerk didn't seem to know that therefore had to wait in a queue to check in anyway. We always get a room at the back of the hotel as it's lovely and quiet and the standard of the room can't be faulted. Wish there was a wee fridge though.

me and a friend stayed 3 nights. the cost of the room and breakfast offered great value. my only reservation is that i wouldn't be able to stay here alone as the single occupancy rate is too high. shame there are no single rooms as such.

It's clean, it's very well located, the breakfast is pleasant and the staff is very nice and professional. For families with children, the bunk bed is a plus and despite its proximity to Reeperbahn there are no problems when travelling with small children. As a minor inconvenience, the only problem for light sleepers is that some costumers don't know how to speak quietly on their way to bed.

It is a challenge in any bigger city to find reasonable accommodation at less than 50 EUR. This budget hotel does not disappoint. The essential amenities incl. en-suite are all there. Breakfast is quite good. Bed is comfortable. Staff are helpful. (Very) late check-out is available at a nominal fee. The location is central (behind Reeperbahn) yet quiet enough for inner city. I appreciated that price did not rise during a period of high occupancy (several fairs ongoing at the time). Great food places nearby. The hotel is easy and convenient to reach. Places downstairs for common usage (lounges) are scant, but given the location this can be forgiven.

We have been staying at the hotel twice and both times have been excellent. Great service at the front desk, rooms are nice and the breakfast buffet in the morning is extensive. We would love to come back for another visit!
