Located in an extremely loud neighbourhood, lots of people out on the street well into the wee hours of the morning. It did cause some so concern for vehicle security as well. Staff were friendly, rooms clean.

the location of the hotel is pretty good. The transportation is just in front of the hotel. People working there are kind and the room is perfect for a small travel. I've never been disappointed in Ibis Hotels.

I was disappointed with my experience at Ibis Budget Caen Gare. I've stayed at other Ibis Budget hotels and although they are basic, I have been satisfied with the general cleanliness of the room and the amenities. This time, however, the state of the room was very below standard. There were strange black spots on the walls and floor that looked suspiciously like mould, and the mattress cover looked like it hadn't been changed in weeks - it was absolutely covered in long dark hairs. Nevertheless, my experience was slightly redeemed by the very helpful and courteous staff members. They very kindly stored my heavy suitcase for me when I arrived early and I was impressed by their friendly demeanour.

Hotel was as expected for an Ibis Budget, clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful and it is situated in a very convenient area for a variety of restaurants. Although there is no dedicated parking the paying spaces outside, which are used for the station, are free after 6.30pm until the next morning.

Really disappointed, we had travelled from Spain with a car full of presents and luggage as we were going to the UK to see our family. We turned up to the hotel, and there was no parking. They didn't speak English, eventually a customer at the hotel translated and helped us. After half an hour they eventually said they had a staff car park where we could park. But unfortunately there was a van parked right across the enterance, so we couldn't park. We went to the room, to decide what to do, the room wasn't brilliant either. We decided to leave, couldn't get a refund either as no one spoke English. Great start to our Christmas.

Clean & comfortable room and an adequate breakfast. Nothing to dislike. The best is the price. The hotel is not far from the centre of Caen and the Tourist Office. On the opposite side of the railway station are some nice restaurants for an evening meal.

On arrival parking situation better than expected, plenty of roadside spaces and free overnight. First thoughts on room positive, spacious with both worktop and sink area generous well placed in corners! Bathroom facility adequate very good power shower! Not the best position roomwise in building as we were straight across from two tram stops and over a bar but as we are avid people watchers proved very interesting.Very amusing suggestion at reception on asking for spare pillow, we could place something else under flat pillow to raise it up!!! One strange thing in room why the clothes hook was placed directly at and over the bedside and at a good height for head bonking!

We stayed with my family 2 days, the breakfast was very good, the hotel staff very welcoming, this hotel is situated near the train station and a shopping center is easily accessible on the other side of the station with many restaurants.

Average hotel. we stayed 2 nights at the Ibis. On booking the full address did not come up, so got lost trying to find hotel. the male on reception was the best asset to the hotel - extremely helpful and friendly. the room could have been cleaner. No floor mat for the shower. only a plastic pod with toilet and shower in. no bath mat so after the shower, fellow room mate got wet feet just going to the toilet. Sheets were clean but extremely thin, Shared the lift with 2 cleaners, the B.O was horrific, the lift still smelled of them even when they had left the lift. But the male on reception was wonderful. He deserves a pay rise.

The hotel itself was clean and tidy but the area was a little rough with both of the nearby cafes being a little rowdy, although I personally was not harassed in any way. The room layout was strange with the toilet and shower room door opening directly on to one of the beds. WiFi did not work well. The one member of staff present at breakfast struggled to keep the service area stocked. Not one of IBIS Budget's better hotels.

I like this hotel a lot, good location, clean room. Very simple and no need for card keys because they use a passcode for entering your room. There are towels, soap and toilet paper. Receptionist at night was also very kind to lend me his plug adaptor for a night. Breakfast was 6.50 EUR there were croissants, bread, yogurt, milk & cereal, coffee, jam, fruit.

I stayed for almost a week, and had nothing to complain. The system of booking was simple and the changement of code each day ensure the security. Location of hotel is excellent. Staff at the front dest were all loving and kind, offering every information requested. If there has to be any improvement is the system of house keeping that I suggest to be arranged according to the frequency demanded by guests for longer stay, for ecologic reason, also in accordance with personal schedule. Messages of do not disturb were sometimes ignored. But it is to be assured that the house keepers were always polite and friendly. I'm sure this will be the first choice for another visit in town. Thanks mostly for the people who make difference out of a place. Bravo.

The hotel itself was a usual standard budget hotel, but was very noisy from the outside. Had expected train noise but not the noise from traffic and many trams, particularly very early in the morning. The hotel itself was very warm so we had to have the windows open - no fans available. Not a great environment either, we were approached by three different lots of people begging for money.

I arrived with my son after an overnight ferry journey. The duty manager kindly allowed us to leave our luggage in reception and allowed us to book in early. Other than that, the accommodation was basic but fine for our purposes and very clean. The location is a little noisy being opposite the railway station. It was a choice of being kept awake by trams from 5am or closing the window. Having said that, the location was ideal for trams / buses to the town centre or for excursions by train.

As always, the service and location are great. Obviously you don't get any luxuries etc. but what you do get is a nice clean, airy room close to the town center. Unfortunately we were in a rush and couldn't afford to wait around to check out in the morning (couldn't find the receptionist anywhere!). Free parking overnight outside in the street.... this was a good feature also!!!

Basic, clean modern hotel with all the essentials that you need. Friendly staff, cleverly designed compact family room with comfortable beds. Brilliant value bed and breakfast. Not a huge choice of food for breakfast but adequate and excellent value. Area is slightly downmarket opposite rail station but within easy walk of city centre. Would definitely recommend and use again. Our experience with various Ibis hotels in various cities has always been positive. BW

Very good value for money. Location was excellent for city and travel.accomodationwas good ,quiet, and comfortable.staff were very polite and helpful.i really could not fault was but just what I required.

Manager: really very friendly and helpful, acting like a Manager of a 5* Hotel Hotel: very clean, very practical, but no atmosphere; I felt like being in a first class prison cell. Everything is so secure - no removeable parts. The window could be tilted, but then it was locked with a chain. A notice said: we decline any kind of responsibilty in case the window is open - sounds a bit embarrassing to me.

This hotel is in an excellent location opposite the train station. Trams to the centre were very frequent. The bars surrounding the hotel were a bit rough, but that is normal near train stations. Sleep was not disturbed. Will definitely return to this hotel again.

The hotel was very comfortable, the breakfast filling, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, especially F who helped us when we could not find a petrol station. Thank you F. Beware anyone who intends hiring a car in Caen, if you agree to refill the car before returning make sure you ask where to find petrol (gazol) before you leave - petrol/gas stations are very hard to find and you have to have a local petrol card to operate them - the pumps would not accept Visa . The town is very handy for the Normanby Beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry, as well as many attractions in Caen.
