This Ibis hotel gets all the good ratings I would usually give. It lacked a restaurant but several nearby. However, it took us 1 and a half hours to find it due to all the works around Rennes new TVG station. We followed the address of rue chatillon, then followed two signs to hotel Ibis then got lost. Two calls to the hotel didn't help until they mentioned rue de l'alma and parking Gare Sud. Luckily a friend had lent me a map of Rennes as at this stage even my TomTom was confused. We finally found parking Gare Sud and worked out that we had to walk through the railway station to get to the hotel. The guy on reception knew what we had been through and upgraded our room. In the morning I spoke to the front desk. We get an e-mail from Accor a few days before we arrive at one of their hotels. Due to the current situation in Rennes which Accor has no control over, they could still have included in that e-mail new directions. i.e take the rue de l'alma to the end, enter parking "P Gare Sud", park and exit via train station to hotel. This would avoid guests having nervous and or marital breakdowns!
Ibis is great and works well for just getting your head down. However I found this ibis built to a bare minimum standard. I had to ask for my welcome drink and wish I never as there was no real bar other than a fridge at reception to enjoy it. On Top of that the welcome drink was only for 1 person and not a +1 which made it pointless as my other half would go without.
Stayed here overnight as going by train to Paris next day and this hotel is located right next to train station. Is very clean and staff very helpful. Furnishings etc basic but comfortable and all we needed as only slept there. Only thing we would have liked is a kettle and cups to make cup of tea or coffee.
Ideally placed near the station, a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre, but even quicker using the metro which leaves from the station which is literally next door! Modern hotel, great views from the rooms facing the city.
We stayed here for one night on our way to Caen having spent two weeks travelling from Bilbao The hotel is in the city centre next to the station with underground parking (discount given to guests). Our room was a good size with plenty of room for our luggage. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom was very clean. The reception staff were very efficient and friendly helping us with directions and information on the city. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were on hand to make sure there were clean tables available. A very nice stay, thank you.
Maybe it is just me but I like Ibis hotels. You pay for what you get. The rooms here have a modern twist which is fine for now. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I never opt hotel meals unless I cannot avoid it. In this instance I got a call from reception because I was very late for checking in. The proximity to the Rail Station is good if you need an early start.
Hotel is nearby Rennes train station, just 2 mins walk, the most convienent hotel to stay at if u plan to go to Le Mont Saint Michel. Breakfast is good & a lot of food choice, room is clean & comfort, wifi in good condition & hotel staff is nice & very helpful to answer our question or enquiry.
A modern, clean tidy Ibis adjacent to the station on the quieter Southern side of the station. Friendly & helpful reception staff who coped very well considering the hotel was busy with Tour de France fans & personnel staying there. Rooms were clean, en-suite bathrooms excellent, great shower & comfy bed. Buffet breakfast was the usual good Ibis standard. I'd definitely come back if staying in Rennes again.
The hotel was fine. We were a little worried about being close to the Gare but oh well. The picture on the website looked ok and the reviews were good but when we got there parking was a little complicated and the picture on the website, well it's of the building next door, not the Gare, the women's jail. Oh well, no issues but a little off on the advertising I would say.
It is in a very handy spot, we returned our hire car on the other side of the train line and easy walk back through to the hotel, it doesn't seem like the greatest part of town, but we could walk to good creperie on the other side of rail line, Very easy to station next morning for train to Paris, glad only one night though.
Great hotel, easy to find and not far off the motorway. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable, front of house staff and friendly and speak good English. Parking nearby in the underground for a discounted fee.
Great location for Rennes train station and the hotel was very clean and good value for money. The staff that we dealt with were all very helpful. We asked for extra pillows and towels and got them straight away.
We overnighted in Rennes and took the train the following day, so the location was extremely convenient. The triple room was spacious and included a sitting area. There were many outlets in the room, which were appreciated as there were 3 of us with smartphones and tablets, which often need to be recharged. The bathroom was small.
The hotel was very roomy and the bed very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is 3 mins outside the back of the station, though there are no Ibis direction signs in the very modern station.
I was going to Saint Michel and stay one night in this hotel The hotel is just above the TGV station. But no sign and directions within the station I have to ask 3-4 people in order to find the entrance Good services and friendly staff. Wifi is free and good
This was a very hard hotel to get to. Signage for is almost non existent. Once you find out you need to enter the Gare Sud parking, you have no better signage, no signs on direction, baggage handling, source of carts etc. A terrible experience at arrival. Arrangement is actually not bad, if street and parkign signager were up to standards.
This hotel is a decent hotel for an economical stay in Rennes, convenient location right next to station, clean, comfortable- no frills but price reflects this, staff helpful and pleasant. I have stayed in this hotel many times on business and it has a nice breakfast
This is a perfect location for staying in town for a few days. We took an evening train from Paris and an early train back to Paris, the hotel has minimized our time searching for the hotel. Breakfast is readily available starting at 4 or 5 am. Staff were friendly and helpful. Things went all right and not much hassle except the room key card, which I had to proceed to the reception for renewal, for unknown reason. Above all, I did enjoy my stay and would come back again someday.
perfect location for overnight in Rennes and relatively new Ibis is exactly what you would expect from the group that I have used on so many occasions because of their reliabiity. good breakfast, nice staff. very quiet despite very close probimity to the station. loads of bars and restaurants close by - particularly worthy of a visit is Ebulli Sens restaurant nearby
