stayed here for business for three nights and was quite ok. standart ibis, nice room an good breakfast. had some spanish specialities and fresh orenge juice for breakfast which was very nice, enjoyed a lot.
The Ibis Bilbao Barakaldo can be a good option as a base for discovering Bilbao. Typical accomodations of Ibis chain, non typical (in the good side) attention from personnel, and suprising kitchen. Try the burger of the house.
Restaurant very busy I observed two people serving and one cooking . We waited for 10 minutes with menus to place our order ( others were waiting longer) so we went to the mall next door and had our meal. Breakfast very good. All staff most cooperative, helpful and friendly
Clean , conveniently located for the Bilbao ports , helpful staff, comfortable beds, good value overall including the buffet breakfast and was just the job for an overnight stopover . Rooms size ok. Could do with a few more sockets to charge phones.
Very warm and friendly welcome by Patxi in reception after a long road journey. Also the young lady in the restaurant was professional and friendly. Will certainly use again for overnight stop before ferry crossing.
We found this hotel hard to find as our GPS didn't recognise the address. However the Staff were so helpful we would definitely come again. Our waitress that evening was excellent! We also had a problem when leaving the hotel next morning for the Port (Brittany Ferries) but returned to the hotel where they again gave details which were 100%.
Although the dinner, breakfast, bed and shower were ok, the air conditioning was not working, we were told it is switched off in the winter, we stayed 21/9!!! Had to open the window, busy road outside so we got no sleep, too hot and noisy
Very good all round except from lingering smell of smoking in the room. Reception very good, excellent breakfast buffet, especially the 'Spanish selection'. Staff very friendly & professional, very warm welcome.
Little to add to my evaluation: very satisfied Service is ok, people are very nice, there were lots of dogs (dogs' exhibition these days), which I loved to see, since Spain is NOT really dogfriendly whereas I am.
star rating meaningless. only one star. later in Pau (France) ibis with 3 stars, but a lot less pleasing then Barakaldo. Great position, friendly staff, and excellent food for reasonable prices. We enjoyed!
Already filled out questionnaire but to repeat Fall in standards since last visit in January. Had the special " delicious soft pork meal". Pork hard fat and with gristle. Paid by credit card in euros but hotel did conversion to sterling not my credit card - obviously at a financial penalty to me. Staff as before very efficient, friendly and hard working - very stressed service because two people at check in and at service in bar and restaurant trying to cope with usual tourist level plus a bus load of Cuban tourists. Very much understaffed.
Booked for ease of travel to Bilbao ferry port. Unusually welcome drink, as a silver Accor card holder was for both of us as a couple instead of usual one drink for cardholder only. This set the tone for the rest of our stay as staff made us very welcome. Opposite the hotel is a very modern commercial centre, great if you only have a short stay and don't want to drive into Bilbao. Beyond is Barakaldo. An attractive small town with streets interestingly built on several levels, shops and a small park, just right for resting awhile.
The hotel itself is very pleasant and the staff are very nice. The location is great for getting to the ferry port (Portua) but the surroundings are a bit grim. This is no fault of the hotel it's just how Barakaldo is. My ex wife being Basque and from over the river in Algorta did explain that Barakaldo has a bit of a poor reputation locally and suggested I dont venture out at night. The nearby shopping mall has an Eroski which is great for stocking up on bargain Basque delights. There is a food court and decent range of boutique shops.
Friendly staff and pleasant hotel that was ideal for overnight before ferry crossing. Not too much trouble finding hotel, car parking at hotel a bit small need to be there early as it serves both ibis and ibis budget
We were very disappointed with the breakfast...: the fruit was not fresh and over mature... It gave me pain in the stomach, the cake was not fresh and hard, the yougurt was bad with very little choice of taste and brand (the Danone is not good...), the coffee was horrible... The rest of the facility was OKish....
I travelled the world during my working days and stayed in many hotels some very expensive believe me this Ibis hotel is in par with them. Excellent service very pleasant staff exceptionally clean rooms and fantastic breakfast. Highly recommended.
Good hôtel for one night! Localed closed to bilbao. Room was really quiet and functional. It is a good value for money hotel. The breakfast is a bit basic and according to me eggs were missing and could really improve the quality of the breakfast!
We stay here twice a year as a stop over on our way to Portugal. You can be assured it is a reliable hotel with decent food and has an aldi, Mcd and shop precinct nearby. You will need gps location in sat nav for 1st visit as can be tricky to find
Finding your way to the hotel is the hardest part of the experience. It is cunningly concealed and even my GPS/satnav couldn't find it. After negociationg the maze of fast roads, which snake around the outskirts of Bilbao, I had hoped for something a little easier to discover. The service was second to none. The staff tried very hard to please.the room was very nice and clean. The beds were large and comfortable. Unfortunately the meal we had was very poor. Dried out chicken that should not have been served to a customer. Being British, we do not complain but it will be the last meal, or that order, we shall eat in an IBIS hotel. The breakfast was standard Spanish IBIS fare. You don't go away hungry but you don't go away thinking....MMMM Nice!! either.
An excellent hotel. The reception included detailed and easy to follow advice on how to get to the port. The supper menu was above average for an Ibis hotel. Good service even though the hotel was crowded, mainly due to a coachload of students.
