We have no words to express how disappointed we got with this hotel.
First of all, even though there were 2 persons in the front desk when we arrived, only 1 was taking the calls and doing the check in. It took us more than 20 minutes to get the check in done (there was just 1 person in the line in fornt of us).
Secondly the elevator, which was unsafe. If you try to hold the door it will not only no open it, but after you release the door it will violently close - if my hand was in the path, for sure I would have had a serious injury. We reported that to the front desk and the person just said that it was just like that, it was an old elevator, there is just a small sensor down the door and that it would close like that if you hold the door. Nothing was done.
When we finally arrived in our bedroom, we had one more bad surprise. The shower is a traditional sliding bar system with a bracket for setting the vertical position of the shower. This bracket was broken and we were unable the regulate the height - it seemed eternally regulated for a children's shower. We improvised by tying up the bracket to the top with a plastic bag. We reported that to the front desk and she took note for correcting for next customer. Anyway, this sort of issue needs to be reported by the cleaning staff before we even get into the hotel. Addionally, the faucet lever was rubbing and it was quite difficult to fine-adjust the temperature.
In the following day we needed to leave around 4:45 am and we had further problems:
- one of the wheels of the luggage cart was broken making the process of moving luggages super challeging. It was the only one available;
- the front doors were not opening automatically due to the early time, which required us to use a doorbell for the receptionist to open it. It took really long for her to listen to the doorbell and to open. This happened minimum twice.
In a brief way, we had a series of inconveniences, not a spot issue. Maintenance and staff engagement were not as outstanding as we normally get during our stays at other Ibis hotels. Two weeks before we had stayed at Ibis Cornella, very close to the Barcelona airport as well, and it was a totally different story. I regret not having stayed at Cornella's again.
