Always friendly and accommodating. Staff look after me. My preferred hotel in the area. Some improvements needed - better chairs and desks in room, perhaps an easy chair or sofa too, full Freeview on all televisions. Breakfast could do with some change and to be hotter. But I suppose all of these are gripes with corporate matters, not this particular hotel.
As usual the Ibis at Cardiff Gate provided a most convenient and comfortable place to stay while visiting family. The location is ideal for a quick trip into Cardiff centre and so close to the M4 for the journey home. Great value too.
Very helpful staff, clean large room, comfy bed, big shower and clean bathroom, tea and coffee facilities. Limited range of food for evening meals, though does breakfast. Opposite services with choice of food outlets and has carvery pub next door. Very convenient for park and ride service into city centre for £4 and M4. Easy check in and out, own carpark.
Nice little hotel, central to most places. We had our dog with us and we all had a great stay. Not much for dogs and we weren't offered water etc for him, there were young girls running around on the sunday morning in nothing but towels, the noice was a bit overbearing at times too but overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.
Very good usual IBIS standard hotel. No complaints. Good sized free car parking. Good access to M4. Not near to city centre. Good reception staff. Rooms clean all facilities working. On a site of a motorway service area.
It was tricky to find (better signage required) and they only provided one towel (!) between 2 people, while I'd expect at least 3 (a bath towel each plus a shared hand towel). But to be fair I didn't speak to anyone about it, I'm sure if I did, I'd have been given as many towels as I wanted. The room was otherwise ok. Basic but the price of the place was really good so that's not a complaint either. Also was good to be on the same site as the services because I could buy 2 pots of porridge for waaaay less than the £8+Per person mediocre breakfast (I had it once before at the reading ibis and wondered how anyone could claim that stale self-serve canteen breakfast could be worth so much money....I dunno. Maybe this ibis breakfast is better but I wasn't about to risk it) It's basic but it's fine for somewhere comfortable to sleep part way on a long journey.
Only 1 night away with my Labrador and the Ibis was reasonably priced. Very comfortable and the staff and services were better that I expected fromm Ibis. I will certainly use this group again. No problems with the dog. The breakfast was terrific.
Stayed for 2 nights at the hotel when visiting for the Coldplay concert. The rooms were basic as expected, but were very clean and well presented. The Hotel itself was also very well kept and bar/social area was spacious and welcoming. The staff were excellent, always available and gave helpful advice about travelling into the city centre on public transpire - this perhaps the small warning for anyone staying as you are a few miles away from the centre (but very handy for the M4 - so whatever suits best). I enjoy a good fry up for breakfast and the hotel breakfast was really enjoyable with a good selection of cooked and continental options.
I stay in Cardiff one night every week on business and along with ibis budget in Newport find this to be one of the best value hotels in the area. The rooms in this Ibis are more comfortable and spacious than the budget with tea and coffee in the room and fully separate bathroom. Also the communal areas are good with bar. Toby Carvery nearby for value meals.
A very clean Ibis Ideal for a one night stay, usually very reasonably priced but along with every other hotel in Cardiff the price trebled as the European football final was being played on the weekend we stayed there. very friendly staff with a ready smile. a nice spacious entrance, bar, restaurant area excellent location for the motorway, not good for the town center
Clean and reasonably quiet hotel given proximity to motorway. Services on hand for snack or able to walk to a Toby Carvery. Not really suitable if you don't have a car, if you need shopping you can travel by car to a large Asda a few minutes away, which has cheaper petrol and has McDonald's, Costa and Subway.
Business travelling or halt of 1-3 nights is fine, then you have to ask for everything. Having a fresh bedding, more soap, etc... Staff is reasonably friendly but have no specific care for returning customers and Accor guest program.
If you are travelling by car this is a handy location off the M4, and it was surprisingly quiet. If you are using public transport, forget it ! The 57/58 bus information is most misleading. The hotel is clean and has recently been refreshed / refurbished. I would not recommend eating a meal other than breakfast at the hotel, they are only geared up for snacks. There is a carvery close by. Good value for money.
I stay at this hotel several times a year and always have very helpful staff if i have any queries. The location is very convenient for the city centre but also for travelling on elsewhere. I much prefer a separate shower which is one of the reasons i stay there.
Whilst the interior of the hotel and in particular the room could not be faulted , it was disappointing to see that there was no litter collection in the hotel carpark for the whole 4 day duration of our stay . It was littered with take away wrappers and plastic bottles with many cigarette stubs around the entrance doors
I stayed the night of 19/2/17 not sure if my 3 day course in Cardiff was to go ahead until the next morning (20/2/17). I explained this to the desk lady who booked me in on the first night and I explained I will let her know in the morning if I need to stay another 2 nights to complete my course. She agreed and said at this time we have plenty of rooms. I received a phone call to say course is on. On leaving the hotel I explained to the same lady that my course is confirmed and I need to stay 2 extra nights. She retook my Credit card details and said fine. Off on my course I went. On my return I found the car park completely full! The desk staff told me, in a not interested manner, we rent out the car park; there will be spaces later on!!!!! The key card failed. I went to the desk and asked them to recharge my key card. They told me the room is not available! You never rebooked the room. They decided to REMOVE all my clothing from the drawers, hanging space, shoes, computer peripherals and toiletries. Clearly the room was being lived in!! My belonging was put in plastic bags in the manager's office. The attitude of staff was "YOUR NOT BOOKED IN" so we relet the room. Explaining to them that their colleague made a mistake and I was, it was like talking to an uninterested brick wall!!! Their attitude reflected on the extremely poor quality of the Hospitality business for Ibis hotels. They offered me to book a twin room at a greater increased price. This was clearly refused and off I went to find another hotel. I would not recommend Ibis Hotels!
Hotel is situated outside of Cardiff in a serfvice station close to the Motorway. The rooms are clean and pleasant and the beds comfortable. The food in the evening was nice and ther service was good. Breakfast was a real surprise and was very tasty.
After reading some of the reviews before booking I must say we were a little apprehensive before our arrival. However, we were met with a warm, clean and quiet environment. The bed was to the usual high standard, big and comfy. The hotel is in an ideal spot for using as a base for exploring the south of Wales.
Good standard stayed many times always clean sheets and approachable staff....special mention are Shaun and Ryan on the front desk ,Very helpful even when busy with other duties great breakfast but a little expensive
Given room 210 on arrival on 26th December 2016 room had no heating so we were given room 214 nine bathroom floor tiles cracked and dangerous under foot and complete shower tray was a disgrace..We were talking to a couple who were given room 210 on the Friday before and asked to be moved due to no heating.......
