Ibis in Aalst is convenient, good location and free parking. However, the staff is surly, and the receptionist's attitude on checking me in was bordering on the rude. A welcoming smile would not go amiss! Room was very hot and airconditioning thermostat was stuck on 20 degrees. Windows open, but being on the front of the building the road is very noisy. Liked the laminate on the floor.
Our overall experience of this hotel is a positive one. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Plenty of car parking spaces in the underground parking area (although not that great if you have a high car. Disabled access was fine although door from car park quite narrow and not much turning space to get into the lift. Space in reduced mobility room was excellent. We had one night of disturbed sleep which resulted in my partner having to go down to reception at 4.15am to complain. Other than that that we had a good time.
Very friendly staff, nice room and breakfast. Easy access to and from highway, location outside the city center helped to avoid morning traffic. Free parking is also nice bonus. Overall very pleasant experience.
Hotel convienient location for motorway, pleasant room, very helpfull and efficient manager. The young lady on reception was magnificent not only booking in 2 coach full of people, she also run the bar for food and drinks!!!!!! Should be given her a pay rise.
This hotel was not far from the motorway and check in was very quick with friendly and polite staff. The breakfast was first class with everything available that you would possibly want. The rooms were a bit small but as it was only one night that was OK. The bed was very comfortable.
Very helpful staff, clean rooms, limited menu but good food, ideal location for travel stopover. Great value for money. Breakfast buffet superb. Secure parking. Have visited twice and will use again. Relaxing break after a long drive.
When we arrived, it turned out that the room booked for us was gone, so we had to pay for more expensive rooms. They also overcharged us for some things (can't remember what they were), but they did agree to refund the difference after we complained. Breakfast was sloppy bacon and dry scrambled egg. Apart from its location (easy to find if you're driving), this hotel isn't very good.
The staff are great, good (with some noise) location off the E40 but, THE ROOMS ARE WAY TOO HOT The aircon is of no practical use, had to leave the window open all night, which meant with smokers outside more noise and smoke coming in :-(, and traffic noise, then guests departing early keeping me awake, in October this was ridiculous!!! It's a good hotel, in an ideal location for Aalst or Affligem or staging on the E40 but I'm looking for an alternative for next years convention :-(
It was a pleasure staying there. Very friendly stuff, even though hotel was full the 2 girls were able to provide excellent service in both reception and the restaurant. However there was not enough parking spaces outside and not even in the cellar under the hotel.
Great hotel. Fantastic staff. Easy to find. We booked early and got a really good deal. Top breakfast. Will stay here again. On arrival, the receptionist was extremely helpful (tall woman with glasses).
When I arrived at the hotel, my reservation would not be found at all even though I made it through you web pages. The staff at reception and in the bar very unfriendly. I think this was last time when use your hotels.
First room given stank of smoking.Second was fine but a little dusty.Signs of smoking but no smell.Room size was good.Bathroom clean.Breakfast very nice and filling-hot or cold offered.Kept waiting for ages to order a coffee at the bar. Website says free parking but is paid for secure underground parking, which nobody used.We parked outside the front of the hotel, which is open to the public.Apart from the smoky room and lax bar service,a god stay was had.
I opted to stay at this hotel as a stop-over from Calais to Cologne for the German Christmas market. The hotel is approx. a 1.5 hour drive from the Calais Eurotunnel terminal and is close to the motorway. We arrived at approx. 11.30 pm on a Friday evening and checking in was quick and efficient (the receptionist spoke excellent English). Whilst the decor of the room was tired (stain on the carpet) and dated, the bed was firm and the double-glazing was excellent. The bathroom was a good size with a large shower cubicle and powerful shower. The breakfast was varied and excellent value at €10.00 per person. The checkout was just as simple and efficient as the check in. My only gripe as that I was unable to book a twin room on-line for my daughter and her friend which meant they had to share a bed. In hindsight, I should have checked with reception to see if a twin room was available.
Staff is demotivated, management invisible. Check-in is taking long, because the hotel does not trust even frequent customers. Checkout takes long, invoices cannot be printed in advance, contain mistakes and no totals. Complaints are ignored. Place also rents meeting spaces, but there is no personnel to manage this, so equipment & service are not there when you need it.
Nice clean hotel on the edge of a small Belgian town. Close to motorway. Bit of a wait when everyone checked in at the same time but other than that they could not do enough for you. Good secure parking although does come with a fee of 9euro. Many English speaking channels on the TV.
All went accordinly to what I expected from front desk to the room all was in order the confort of silence even with the hotel filled with tour bus Breakfast was OK simple but good the price knowing that all the hotel were filled around due to a concert was very appriciated
This Ibis is a tidy Hotel with friendly staff that were very helpful. The Hotel is a few kilometres (2km) from the centre of town, yet easy access to the main motorways, not good if you don't have a car. There are a couple of places to eat within walking distance. Rooms were clean and reasonable size for Ibis.
Used hotel as an overnight stop over on the way north from Austria. The hotel conformed to the great IBIS brand. Greeted by friendly and helpful staff. On a main road the hotel car park was difficult to find and it was problematic to stop on the road. Better signage would help or perhaps advice on the web site.
We stayed in Aalst overnight on our way back from skiing. The hotel was clean and staff very friendly. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of food. It was a short drive from the motorway. Aalst looks a nice place to visit.
We spent a fabulous weekend at Aalst Ibis the staff were all very accommodating and knowledgeable about restaurants places of interest trains and taxis We were particularly impressed with the bar and restaurant staff who went out of their way especially when the hotel was busy
