When we arrived, there was a long line at the regular check-in desk. There was no staff member at the fast check-in desk, but we went to stand there anyway, expecting that someone would show up soon. After 5 minutes of waiting, we split up, one person in the regular line, the other at fast check-in. After about 10 minutes, another employee came out a side door and went to stand by her colleague working the regular line. I frantically waved at her and she gave me a thumbs up and pointed behind me. Thinking that another colleague had shown up, I turned around but there was no one there. So I went over to her but before I could say anything, she told me that if I could just open the door and set my luggage down. I explained that I wasn't looking for luggage storage, that I just wanted to use the fast check-in service. She laughed, didn't make any apologies, but luckily she managed to check us in quickly after that.
Once in our room, we were happy to see that our request for a room facing the water was granted. It was also a milestone birthday birthday celebration and the hotel actually gave a welcome package and a gift. Really appreciated!
The bar and breakfast were both great. Service at the bar was efficiënt. Good options at breakfast.
We had another negative experience: we came home around 10 one night and as we made to enter the building, a glob of spit came hurtling towards us from the left. A group of men were standing at the smoking area and one of them decided to aim his spit away from his friends, and that was towards the hotel entrance. Luckily, only a little but of spittle got on my shoe. The young man was very apologetic but my anger was immediately at the hotel for putting a smoking area right next to the entrance. It's just asking for trouble and should be moved. Most hotels would have a no smoking sign, but Ibis Stopera has a smoking area. Bonkers!
