We had a bit of an issue finding the hotel, as there was no way of knowing which side of the station it was located on. People around did not seem to know about it. It is located at a distance of about 10 minutes walking, and if you have a lot of luggage and it is raining, the walk can be a bit of a bother, to put it mildly. However, finally, it is located pretty nicely. Check-in was easy, and the super-well-trained Ibis reception staff always lives up to its awesome reputation as warm and friendly.
We were assigned a room on the third floor. The room was quite large, even by the European Ibis standards, and that was a pleasant thing to note. Beds were good and the bath cum toilet was also very spacious. There was also a complimentary discount coupons booklet for our use next to the TV. Overall, an excellent room. The only catch was that there is no air-conditioning. It didn't matter to us as we were staying when the weather was rather cool. But I do not know what happens in summer.
The other small but insignificant bother was that the telephone in the room was dead for all 3 days that we stayed in. We reminded them every morning when we went down, but it got corrected only on the last evening. Not something that mattered to us, as we didn't use it, but is a tiny blot on the usual Ibis super-efficient service.
A walk down the road takes us to the McCafe and beyond that is the Mattenhof station, from where one can reach Lucerne in 5-7 minutes. Really convenient. There is an eating place a short distance away, but when Lucerne is so close, most things didn't matter :)
