So this is a budget motel. You expect the barest necessities. Ibis Budget Enfield / Strathfield South feels a bit more like a modern prison than a motel room but what I have found over the years is when you turn out the lights to sleep they all look the same. That being said, the place was clean and relatively warm. There was also an air conditioner that worked if you didn't like the air. The bed was relatively comfortable, there was enough toweling and bedding and I did get a great night's sleep and get back on the road without parting with too much cash. The door locked, the toilet worked fine. My only real issue was the shower. It was a good size cubicle and the hot water was hot and pressure was great and I was starting to think I was about to have an amazing shower when I realised that the head of the shower was broken. It spurted water upwards and sideways as well as from the usual jets, you couldn't angle it so it was always facing mostly downwards and if you turned it up too high the whole head fell off into the shower (or onto you). When I reported it to the cleaner in the morning she said "yes I know I have already told him (the manager) about it". So it begs the question. If management knew that it had a critical fault, why did they rent out that room at all or why didn't they warn me and offer a further discounted rate so they could fill the room while still keeping the customer happy. After a day on the road, or at work, all I want is a good shower and a safe clean bed and Ibis Enfield came >.< this close to meeting that requirement but managed to drop the ball through poor management. I hope this improves because otherwise it seems like a fine enough place to crash. I'd give it another go.
