If you just want a bed for the night during a long journey to somewhere else, then this hotel will do. If you are looking for atmosphere, cosy corners, and tastefully decorated bedrooms, then you will be disappointed. "Basic" means basic. Reception desk is staffed infrequently - just a few hours in the morning, and again in the late afternoon. If you turn up midday, then you have to check in automatically using the machine outside (they close reception desk for a long lunch break). Don't be fooled into paying for the "breakfast" - it's a rip off (man on reception brings out rolls & sliced cheese every morning from the kitchenette in the back). You'd be better off finding a bakery/cafeteria etc. somewhere in Chemnitz city centre. There is a McDonald's not far away. Location: you really need a car to reach this hotel. It's opposite the exhibition grounds but on the outskirts of the city (good access to motorway). If you have space in your luggage, the following items would be handy for your stay: hairdryer, travel kettle, towels (hotel towels are threadbare). All in all, very good value at around €40 for a double room but not really in the luxury category.
