Stayed once again at the Ibis Budget at Menton. What other hotel gives you a promenade location at great prices. Very good service, excellent breakfast and a comfortable room - all at a good price. You can't beat it!

good rooms for families. clean. little small but sufficient breakfast. a garage with an extra charge. but there is much place to stop. efficient staff. a location in a beautiful city and if you want to pay a fee may have room facing the sea. menton loved!

It is a basic budget hotel with the average Ibis Budget standard. The hotel's main positive feature is its location, right on the seaside promenade of Menton Garavan. If you book a room with seaview you can enjoy not only the sea but the panorama of the old town, too. This makes this budget hotel quite unique compared to other hotels in this category. As it is an Ibis Budget, rooms are functional but austere. This type of hotel suits for shorter stays, it could be uncomfortable for longer stays. The breakfast is good for 6,5 euros, they offer continental buffet breakfast (without cold cuts). From the hotel you can reach the old town in 15-20 minutes by walk, the Menton Garavan train station is in walking distance, too (3-4 minutes).

Nothing budget about this hotel - it has everything - view, position, facilities, great staff and all you could need within walking distance - Italy only 400 m away and what a walk along the waterside - the Med - 200 m to a station - you never hear the trains - to get to Monaco (20 mins) or San Remo (30 mins) or the walk into town 1km along the waterfront.

We hadn't done much research on the hotel as we booked last minute due to an unforeseen change to our plans. But when we arrived we were happy to find the hotel was not only very clean and comfortable but also situated in a fantastic location opposite the marina. All this for a very reasonable price. However, we envisaged the small breakfast area could become crowded during busier periods, but that wasn't a problem for us. One issue was the small underground car park which would be difficult to negotiate for larger vehicles.

We stayed in the Ibis Budget hotel in Menton at the end of the promenade some 400 metres from the Italian border. Our room was superbly situated, on the front of the hotel overlooking the Marina and with its own balcony. We were attending the Fete du Citron, an annual 4 week Carnival where floats decorated with oranges and lemons are paraded through the seafront area on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.. This year's theme was Ciniciti, the french film industry. Static displays illustrating films such as Cleopatra, The Scooter and the Clowns were also set up in the local gardens. we would recommend everyone to try to see this Festival. The hotel and room were very clean with towels changed daily if required & a very comfortable bed made up daily. The Manager, Roland(?), worked tirelessly to ensure that the breakfast room was supplied continuously with fresh foodstuffs, incidentally, the amount and variation of food available was incredible. Much better than we have found in other Ibis Budget hotels. The hotel was completely full during our stay and we suspect would be full throughout the Festival. However, the standard supplied by Roland and his staff never slipped. Marveilleux!

It was the fourth time we stayed in this hotel in the last few years. The hotel is well situated for a nice walk to the town along the promenade. Our room was clean, service was good. Breakfast was very tasty. My only small criticism is very small room and small breakfast room. People had to queue for a place at the table. The price is OK.

I will be trying to stay at this hotel on my way back in December. Try and get the sea view rooms It's very easy to park on the street outside hotel at this time of year. Hotel breakfast is good value for money. Also fill up with fuel before Italy much cheaper in France.

stayed only one night in Menton on our way to Ventimiglia. The views from this hotel over the sea and Menton are spectacular. the room was tired but good enough. Not really clean as the floor was dirty and the air condtioning unit was filthy. a possible health hazard. Apart from that a good place to stay

Upon our arrival we were met by a rather difficult man on reception. Our booking was for 3 rooms and he kept insisting it was only for 2. We had to prove it was for 3 by showing him our confirmation on the telephone. We had to pay him for the rooms and we thought we had already paid on line. He was very short, rude actually. This could have been because of the obvious language barrier. However he remained rude with us throughout our visit and left us feeling like whatever happened thereafter we were on our own!!

I paid extra to have a room with a sea view, and was given a room on the second floor at the side of the hotel, hence with a sideways view of the sea only visible if out on the balcony. The hotel was by no mean full, so there must have been front-view rooms on higher floors. The receptionist was obviously filling the hotel from the bottom upwards (to make life easier for the chamber-maids?) The next time I shall be sure to ask for a room on the front, regardless of which floor it's on.

Arrived here by train en route from Nice Airport to Sanremo just across the border in Italy. I chose this place because (even at 90 euros) it was the cheapest I could find to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. It's also a 5 minute walk from Menton Garavan (not Menton) railway station. Rooms at this price can in fact accommodate 5 people (a double bed with a single bunk bed above and a further 2 singles in a separate room. Thankfully I arrived at 20:50, just 10 minutes before the manned reception closes for the night. I wasn't travelling with the same bank card used to make the booking so I would not have been able to use the out-of-hours automated reception. The room was comfortable enough for an overnight stay but not somewhere to spend a week's holiday. At 6 euros the breakfast is good value.

Good place to stay in the French Riviera. Close to the center. Very good view from high floors. Rooms functional and clean. Only 2 bad points: - when we arrived Visa did not work and we could not have our rooms ready until we found an ATM - the parking space is very small and difficult to move if the car is not very small

Excellent location, fantastict view over Menton old city and Marina, quiert area, reception very friendly, breakfast simple but very good. Room was excellent air conditioned. Enjoyed the balcony which had space for 2 chairs.

Clean and good value. Good location close to train station but a bit of a walk to the town centre. The optional breakfast was ok compared to other places we have been. Here there was a bigger assortment than just coffee and croissant. Nice

We have stayed here many times in the past, nice clean room and large shower, at the end of the day it is all about location you get a wonderful sea and harbour view. Only downside, the height disadvantaged guy on reception is just plain rude and has no customer relations skills at all.

I was totally surprised by the quality of the premises; (1) the garage is very hard to maneuver coming out or going in, (2) the gentleman at the counter cannot speak English (3) the room has outdated AC and very small TV - I could hardly watch the world cup games (4) the drain pipe runs exposed in the bathroom

Excellent budget hotel in an expensive area ... bed and shower room quite adequate. Would have liked some indication when booking on-line that I could have paid extra for a sea view which I would have preferred... otherwise all ok + breakfast very good ... will stay there again!

I could not praise the Ibis Budget Hotel in Menton enough. For a basic value-for-money hotel it cannot be beaten. The rooms are excellent, with well-appointed shower-rooms. They were cleaned every day with fresh towels etc. The breakfast was excellent quality and great value. This is not a 'luxury' facility but for business or short-stay purposes it cannot be beaten. 5stars from me!

Typical Ibis Budget Hotel. Clean, quiet, friendly staff at reception. Parking on street, which was sometimes difficult to find. Bonus was a balcony with a view towards the port and the city. Price reasonable (for Menton), though not cheap. About a half hour walk to downtown on the seaside promenade.
