We stayed in the Ibis Budget hotel in Menton at the end of the promenade some 400 metres from the Italian border. Our room was superbly situated, on the front of the hotel overlooking the Marina and with its own balcony. We were attending the Fete du Citron, an annual 4 week Carnival where floats decorated with oranges and lemons are paraded through the seafront area on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.. This year's theme was Ciniciti, the french film industry. Static displays illustrating films such as Cleopatra, The Scooter and the Clowns were also set up in the local gardens. we would recommend everyone to try to see this Festival. The hotel and room were very clean with towels changed daily if required & a very comfortable bed made up daily. The Manager, Roland(?), worked tirelessly to ensure that the breakfast room was supplied continuously with fresh foodstuffs, incidentally, the amount and variation of food available was incredible. Much better than we have found in other Ibis Budget hotels. The hotel was completely full during our stay and we suspect would be full throughout the Festival. However, the standard supplied by Roland and his staff never slipped. Marveilleux!
