The staff were great but the hotel is really budget with handbasin in room and toilet moulded plastic. It would not encourage me to try another Ibis Budget. Everything is budget, even the 'thinness' of the towels.

Have stayed at this Etap now Ibis Budget often over the past decade. Typical Ibis Budget - and sadly still has the combined shower/toilet unit. For a quiet nights sleep, do ask for a room on the front of the hotel facing the adjoining Novotel - the noise from the A71 a few metres from the rear rooms can be very disturbing.

While we could have had a third adult staying in our room for no extra charge, we had to pay an extra 10 euro for our two small pooches. I don't understand why an extra charge is incurred for dogs to sleep on the floor in their own beds! To add insult to injury, as paying guests they were not allowed in the breakfast area the following morning, even though they had been allowed in many many much posher restaurants all around France !!

Positives - The hotel was clean, staff were friendly and the airconditioning was effective. Negatives - The rooms are very basic with wash basin in the room itself and only shower and toilet separated off. Also some toilet doors were partly transparent, so fine for one person, not good for two. The choice at breakfast is limited though quantities and freshness were fine. The space in the breakfast room was completely inadequate for the size of the hotel.

It was ok, clean and tidy, breakfast was pretty basic. If you wanted anything to eat on an evening you had to drive to it, or use their sister hotel next door with very high prices. :-( A bit in the middle of nowhere, but nothing that I did not expect. It is a budget hotel, I got what I paid for. I would stay there again (I'd eat somewhere else on the evening) Remember that in the middle of France (like this place), most people do NOT speak English and my French is as good as my Latin :-(

Ibis Budget is fine for an overnight stop, the location is right next to the motorway we want to be on. We ate in the Novotel opposite, food was pretty good. For travellers who want to see Bourges, it is not too far away and there are loads of places to eat, but we stayed on a Sunday night and had been in the car for hours. The only problem was a couple with two young children opposite who presumably didn't realise there were only 3 beds per room so had split themselves with a child each over two rooms and one of the children spent most of the night screaming in the corridor. Exactly why they allowed this is still a mystery.

A regular stop-over for us, so been staying here for a few years now while travelling North / South. Good location, easy to get to / find - especially with the new road from A71 junction - and Bourges is good for shopping / food. Our only comment: The opinion of your stay may well depend on who is on reception. One lady is great, friendly, very helpful, very pleasant, always smiling & chatty. The other is miserable, unhelpful, abrupt and to our minds, awkward... We got the impression that maybe she doesn't like the English (even though we do our best to converse in French). Ho hum.

Excellent place to stay for an overnight stop, only minsutes from the A71 motorway, easy to find. Spotlessly cleanroom and an adequate breakfast the following morning. All the staff were pleasant and very helpful despite the language barrier. This survey has reminded me to book the same hotel for my for my return journey in a couple of weeks.Tres bien!!!

The hotel was booked as an overnight stop on a journey to the South of France. It's location is excellent being just off the autoroute and the facilities adequate for just an overnight break. The only negative aspect is that the only restaurant within a comfortable walking distance is in the nearby Novotel

Clean, quiet hotel in a convenient location for travelling. Rooms were a decent size and beds were very comfortable. Good value for money - booked 2 twin bed rooms on way back to Calais. Only down side was that Budget Ibis tend to have glass doors (partly obscured glass) on the toilet so no privacy.

I have stayed in ibis budget hotels on numerous occasions (ETAP).The stay here was very good up until breakfast. This was on Monday morning and my wife and I are not sure about what is normal for food on Monday mornings but this was definitely not up to the usual standard. The French stick was completely not edible and the rest of the breads were stale. This resulted in a very poor breakfast and was a waste of money.

If you are travelling south an excellent place to stay and close to the motorway. The town of Bourges is also very interesting with the cathedral and the place of Jacques Coeur. Great choice of restaurants.

This was an easy to find hotel at an excellent price. The room was clean and the welcome sincere. Care parking was safe and secure. Didn't have breakfast but this looked good. Would stay her again in the future.

Travelling from South (Montouliers) to North (Roscoff) and wanted to split the journey. Took in a quick visit to the Cathedral as well which I would well recommend seeing. The hotel is not in the centre but well positioned for the motorway. The restaurant discount in the neighbouring Novotel was well received as there are no restaurants within walking distance.

We've been using this particular Etap / Ibis Budget for over a decade now while driving to and from Spain; this trip we stayed there in Dec 13 on the way out and Jan 14 on the return. The place itself was fine, but the new lady on AM reception was short of what we'd become used to at this and other Etap / Ibis Budget. I object to have to keep asking for bread, which she cuts up a couple of chunks for you without using a paper napkin to hold it - OR to wash her hands first - no matter what she's just been doing. Sitting where we could see her doing her stuff in the little "kitchen" area behind reception and then cutting up bread to give out to folks spoilt our appetite... Also when we mentioned that the hot drinks machine wasn't working properly (*very* weak, watery drinks so something wasn't set-up correctly) she fiddled with it by opening and closing the cover then left us to it without comment or feedback and no improvement in the drinks - fait accompli...? Must mention that the young man working in the evening on reception was very helpful & friendly, so our low scores for Service & Cleanliness relate to the lady who looks after the breakfasts; if there was a score for hygiene & helpgulness, we'd have given her Zero! Note that we did not get this sort of shoddy, unhygienic, penny-pinching treatment at the 5 other Ibis Budget hotels we stopped at on this trip. Unless things improve, waive the "all you can eat" buffet breakfast here.

exactly what you need for a stopover.Friendly staff too, despite late arrival. Very annoying being asked to write two hundred characters on what is basically a plastic cubicle with a bed in it!!!! Maybe a few old masters on the walls and a geisha girl would have been nice, but you gets what you pay for.

Like most ex-Etap Ibis Budget hotels, this one is ideally positioned for tired travellers like us looking for a convenient stop over to break up a long car journey. Ibis Bourges is easy to find, located a short distance off the main road intersections, so quiet, no traffic noise and a good night's rest almost guaranteed. The hotel has ample, secure and well lit parking, so no worries for those travelling with cars and top boxes stuffed with their personal belongings. Our family room was a triple with small en-suite loo and shower room, everything was spotlessly clean, not a big space but perfect to unwind, recharge ourselves and the electrical gadgets/tech we cart around us! But by far the best thing about Ibis Budget Bourges, is the helpful friendly staff they employ and the easy attentive service they provide. To my family's embarrassment my French is appalling and they as well as I wasn't looking forward to checking in and finding out directions to the local restaurants - the hotel has a pleasant enough dining space which is used for breakfasts (guests to order in advance). However I shouldn't have worried as the woman working behind the reception was fantastic. My pathetic attempt to speak with her in her own language was thankfully politely dismissed. Of course like most young French people she spoke very good English. We got checked in, got our directions and when we returned tired and still unfed she ordered a pizza delivery service for us and a French family also staying in the hotel that evening. She even accompanied the pizza delivery to our rooms and translated for us! The pizza was great, the service wonderful and much appreciated by all! Thank you.

Let me start by saying as a business traveller I stay in a lot of cheaper chain hotels all over the UK (premier inn, Ibis etc) so thought the Ibis budget would be similar given the price. I chose this as an overnight stop on our way to and from Spain for our family holiday. Whilst the rooms are fine for an overnighter (compact and functional but provide all you need) they are really let down by the ridiculous air conditioning which, although on the lowest setting does nothing to cool the room. This is a general issue as between us and our friends we had 4 different rooms and they were all baking hot. Being next to the motorway, having the window open instead isn't ideal at night either. Added to that the matresses are very solid foam so are unforgiving and so hard it's like sleeping (or at least trying to) on a bench. I would definately recommend you don't buy the breakfast as it is a total rip-off. A few limp croissants, slices of baguette, yoghurts and tinned fruit salad is all you get with little plastic bowls and nothing else. There is not enough room to sit down so we had to wait around for space before we could eat. Ok I wasn't expecting a luxury spread but compared to a similar level hotel in the UK it was very dissapointing. You're better off going up the road towards Bourges to the Pat a Pain on the roundabout and eating there. There are several other budget hotels in the vacinity including a formula1 next door so it might be worth shoppiong around.
