Overall an improvement on last visit. More than adequate hotel for a few nights but not for longer stays, for me anyway. Staff seem keen and generally attentive. Somethings that would make it better, coat hangers that didn't break (2 this visit), room cleaning not great (dirty mugs and bar glasses left for days), some of the towels have seen better days, Being picky? perhaps but when in a hotel for 7-10 nights these things make a difference. On the plus side the free mobile phone is great.

This hotel was booked in advance with 2000 of my Le Club Accor points plus £17.99 prepaid. On checking out I was told that I had to pay £36.11 and when I pointed out that I had already paid with points plus £17.99 she insisted that the value of the 2000 points was £17.99 and I still owed the £36.11 balance. Despite trying to explain to her that 2000 points was worth 40 Euros which is more than £17.99 and that the price I was being asked to pay came to £54.10 not the £54 quoted she would have none of it. Arriving at home I was able to confirm from an email that I in fact did not owe anything at the hotel. I rang the Ibis and was told the manager would be asked to check the details. Sure enough a short time later I received a phone call admitting their mistake and the promise of a refund. I fail to understand why the young receptionist who had not got a clue what she was doing did not get the manager immediately to sort out the problem when we were at the hotel. Had it not been for the incompetence of the staff I would have given an excellent as the room and bathroom were well appointed and well maintained. I believe that Ibis are now franchised and in doing so have lost their pride and customer service which is associated with the Accor brand. Would we stay here again - probably not and in future will be wary of the Ibis hotels.

The room layout and location were excellent. WiFi signal was very strong, which was a bonus. I had the breakfast which was a good selection of hot and cold foods and the eating area was clean and pleasant.

This Ibis is the first Ibis I've stayed that's been refurbished to Ibis's new style, and I liked it! I thought the room was very comfortable and well presented with everything spotlessly clean and in perfect working order. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to central Birmingham, or a few minutes by car or bus. The hotel felt safe as they have a big perimeter fence and the gate was closed overnight, protecting the hotel and the car park. Well done Ibis, recommended!

Great accommodation and great value. The new make over works really well. If you are on business and need a clean functional room then this hotel is perfect. The shower is really great although the drop in bathroom is a little strange at first.

Very good value for money stay at this hotel. We received a friendly welcome, free parking, our requests were fully met and the rooms have been recently refurbished. We did not eat at the hotel. Only slight issue was previous guest had smoked in bathroom with lingering smell - not the hotel's fault.

The new rooms are very comfortable. The reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, with properly made scrambled egg as part of it. Secure car park and good internet access.

The room was basic but comfortable and great for a short term stay. Additionally everything was clean and up to a high standard. However the staff were grumpy, unhelpful and dismissive which effected the overall stay

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable (would have liked more teabags and milk). Cafe restaurant with limited menu but reasonable and food tasty and hot. The bed was quite narrow but I slept very well (not sure I would if I'd been here in summer with room window open as hotel is right alongside a large city roundabout. Breakfast was self-service, generous and available from six-thirty.

Although most staff are customer focused some on the desk were unable to accept that what I and other guests said was correct. Preferring to 'blame the guest' rather than listen and accept reality leading to guests having to sort problems out themselves.

arrived 5pm,ish choice of (gated) carpark spaces.. Might've been down to the last few by 7pm but wasn't looking. (wednesday in june, no football on) check-in, beer, outside tables(technically a beer garden) bed/room/shower all faultless. The phillips TV might've turned itself off or lost signal (or something?) but that was it. Did have a 'furthest away from road' room, but I'd guess all rooms are silent once window is closed. Bit of a walk for town centre/nearest wetherspoons but if driving+going to rainbow venues, perfect. Will be back.

The walls are very thin. I checked in at 9am as I had been driving for 4 hours and needed to rest for a while. It was the worst descision ever. Granted it was 10am and people were getting up and checking out, but I've never heard of people running around corridors and screaming and shouting or even talking. I rang the front desk to complain as the noise was too much, but I was told 'it's 10am, what do you expect'. I'm sorry but I've stayed in many b&bs, hotels and apartments and I've never heard noises before. What really annoyed me was, there was a couple in the next room and the female, was, let's say very 'loud'. It was disgusting. I thought hotels were for resting and some peace. Clearly not here! I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. The £35 dated b&bs are better! No noises, comfortable beds and offer TVs that actually work!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel very clean. Comfortable beds and a nice hot shower. This is a very good location for both the City Centre and Heartlands hospital. Rooms at the front of the hotel suffer from noise from the very busy road but very quiet at the rear.

Ideal location (short distance from central Birmingham and 15 minutes drive from Birmingham airport). Used on this occasion as a good value stay the night before early flight. Clean and comfortable room and the hotel has good facilities. I would recommend this hotel.

2

hotel seemed run down and its description of its location is very misleading its now where near the city centre its a taxi ride away . the room was dark and dingy and it smelt of stale cigarettes and wet dog

2

Hotel standard is as other from Ibis brand. Located not far from city centre - 20 minutes by walk. Differences to other Ibis hotel is impolite reception and that is biggest minus and not acceptable situation.

3

OK but rooms need to have blackout curtains as there was a lot of light pollution from the window. Also the door to the room let in a lot of light round the edges and under the door making it diffiicult to get to sleep for those who like total light exclusion.
