This is probably the most dated IBIS hotel I stay in, The rooms are in dire need of an overhaul, the rooms are dated (1960s). You cannot even have a pre-authorisation on your card so every meal/Drink has to be paid individually . The only good points being its location and the staff that work there.
Hard to find using post code in nav. On arrival I was told I had not paid.I argued I had as after inputting my credit card details and printing a document which said nothing to pay at hotel, I assumed I had paid. Feeling a little embarrassed and confused I was told to check my credit card statement. So I promptly used my phone went online and couldn't find any charges. After paying, we went to a freezing cold room which took over 4 hours to heat up after switching on the heater, which incidentally didn't work when first switched on as it was also turned off at the mains switch under the worktop. The shower didn't work very well I guess due to low water pressure. Then the breakfast fiasco, I was told I had only paid for one and would have to pay for another. I have no idea how you can book a room for 2 including breakfast and only get 1. Well after producing my printout again which stated super saver deal 1 room,2 adults, breakfast included, we were grudgingly allowed in only to find no bacon, sausages, eggs or mushrooms, only tomatoes! We had to wait for some 15 minutes before anything was replenished.Only for these items to run out again immediately, which wasn't surprising when they came out with only 4 sausages at a time. Other guests also complained there were no cooked items on a few other occasions whilst we were sat eating our breakfast. It was a cheap offer, so glad we did not pay full price for a really poor service!
This place really needs knocking down and rebuilding, it is not up to the usual Ibis standard and never will be due to its design. The walls are paper thin which means lots of interesting noises, to say the least, from bedrooms to the side, above and below.
Dirty carpets, chips and stains on bathroom furniture, no heating,TV not working. When I mentioned these in the morning when I left almost felt like I was being chastised for not reporting the matter earlier.
Arrived and there was no trace of my booking. Even though I had a printout of my confirmation the receptionist wanted to charge me extra to `make a manual booking'. Very slow to check in and eventually a room was given to me at the price I had booked on the Accor website. Still not sure if I have been charged twice but that will be another battle. The rooms are across the car park from the main building in a portacabin arrangement which reminded me of a very cheap American style motel. The room was cold - never did warm up enough and did not match my previous experience of Ibis rooms. Woken twice in the night by people returning and every noise on the stairwell was audible. On the plus side the bed was large and comfortable and the room clean.
The room had mould on the curtains and ingrained dirt in the carpet. The hotel looked run down. It looked like a budget hotel not and Ibis (red) I will not choose to stay in this hotel again. I have been to many hotels within Accor hotel family and this is the first time I've been disappointed at the quality of accommodation.
very friendly and helpful staff.-- room very clean and fresh --. nice hot water -- comfortable bed -- was a little noise from late night revellers having a good time but not bad enough or long enough to complain
This "hotel" sounds ideal, rooms easily accessible from the car park, own front door and dog friendly which makes a big difference. The reality is that it is very tired, dated, stained brown carpets, and generally needing a good makeover.
We enjoyed our stay. A quiet hotel, not far from Coventry, but set in a much more rural location, and good public transport links (from the Jaguar works). A very pleasant room, and a great breakfast. I would have given a higher rating, but the cleaner went to clean the room whilst we were at breakfast, and before we had vacated it, binning items that remained in the room.
Booked at almost the last minute, my stay at Coventry South was faultless. Despite being a continental style motel, this brought back many happy memories of Ibis stays on the continent. I've not used Ibis in a while, but now know what I am missing. Excellent location, and quiet too. Recommended.
I reviewed this hotel on the Ibis site and said that if Accor spent some money on the motel it could be very good. It is tucked away in the trees and has a pleasant old fashioned motel feel. The room was adequate, but the cleaning was not great. It is quite run down with rotten window frames, crates with dirty laundry in the under cover walkways and clean bedding in a shed in the walkway with a broken off door. The staff were okay but not very welcoming. However it was cheap and I would use it again for one night, if going to the NEC.
My sat nav took me to the postal code as shown on the booking confirmation but the hotel was nowhere to be found. A Google search brought up a different bar code which took me to an industrial estate - where a security guard was able to point me in the right direction, down a lane 200 meters back. Beware. Once found, the hotel was good enough, friendly receptionist, clean room, good size, everything worked.
I just love this hotel because it s different, yes it's not luxurious but it does everything you need it to. Rooms are a bit dated but perfectly comfortable, reception building is nice and the bar area is comfy. Staff are always great. Frequently stay here and never let down.
I have stayed in many Accorhotels and this one was the very worst and not up to the usual standard. Firstly when I checked in I was given my key and and took everything to my room and my key was not set properly. So I had to go back and ask for my key to be fixed. The room was dark, dingy carpets and very cold. I then had dinner in the "restaurant" and the cheeseburger I ordered was hard as a piece of cardboard with less taste. I was so tired I could not bother sending it back. When I got back to my room it was very cold as the heater, which was supposed to be on a timer never came on. I could not call reception as there was no phone in the room. This was sub par for the Accorhotel group.
Room wasn't properly cleaned throughout our 3 days stay. Door so damaged it had to be barged open. Empty soap dispenser for 2 days in spite of complaints. Rubbish bin not emptied. Whole place run down and needs a major refurbishment. Accor group should be ashamed of this hotel
The general appearance of the hotel is worn out. The carpet in our room had ingrained dirt and stains on it. In spite of having the hearing on all the time the room was cold. The staff however were excellent and the beds very comfortable
Good and friendly reception; room and key ready, and while this is a budget hotel, its quiet, good location for eastern Coventry with comfortable bed and clean room/bathroom. Good (and free) wifi, good food (if limited menu) and very helpful staff.
Service excellent and location for visiting JLR brilliant but............the rooms are so tiered and basic is it like going back 30 years to a Butlins Chalet. Heater didn't work and room felt cold and not as clean as it should have been but this was due mostly to how tired the paintwork was.
Really impressed with the comfort level of this accommodation. It was easy and clear how to operate everything. Good quality heater, TV, shower, lights, kettle etc. and very comfortable double bed and pillows. Had a very good night's sleep, quiet and felt safe and exceptionally courteous and charming staff. Would highly recommend for comfort and good value. Didn't have time for breakfast but it all looked quite appealing. Two niggles: the postcode wouldn't register in my Sat Nav so wasn't easy to find the hotel and there were no clear instructions in the room as to how to connect to the free WiFi. Otherwise faultless - Thankyou.
The room full of dust, noisy fan at the bathroom you can not disconnect. Then the wall and windows are paper you will listen the road outside, people outside or at other rooms, tvs. And you need to put the heating on because the windows leaks everywhere. Very tight For the noisy extractor at the bathroom. I call the staff, they said me that it will switch off at midnight. Never happen... I think poor staff they do what they can with the state of this Motel. I did not see the 15 minutes sleep garanty.
