First off, this is a budget hotel and really cheap. The beds are ok and the bedding was clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower head looked new. No problems with water pressure in the shower. The heater worked well and you can change the on/off times and setting to suit yourself. The breakfast was quite limited in some ways but there are options they will cook to order, eg scrambled eggs or vegan sausages. The downsides: the walls are very thin, the car park is quite steep in places (although we managed on crutches and walking sticks), the carpet was quite stained and there are only 2 sockets to use (they are on the other side of the bedroom from the mirror).

Good clean hotel and well situated for walking into Birmingham. Tends to be noisy early in the mornings so light sleepers beware. Parking seems a little expensive for hotel residents. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Friendly staff and efficient service Good location for the centre . Excellent rooms .break fast very good... Only down was not offered a free as I m a silver member ... But overall I have enjoyed my time ..

Have stayed here many times and no fault at all, was able to come in early and drop of my bag as I wanted to do some shopping before checked it time so which was very convenient. Also the room had a heater which was even better as it was a bit cold at night.

I stayed at this hotel the morning of last weeks snow, it took several of us nearly 2 hours to get the car park, the staff simply didnt care, there was no grit and not attempt to get help. the room was dirty and smelt of smoke, I have written to IBIS and have heard nothing, £120 a night, Shocking

Having stayed in many excellent Ibis Budget and Styles hotels in the UK and and France, this one sadly fell seriously below my basic expectations, and was the worst Ibis I've ever stayed in, spoiling (so far) good track record as a brand. On arrival the hotel is surrounded in a miserable 'off the shelf' bolt together security fence resembling a prison exercise ground, presumably to protect the visitor car parking. The fencing is fair enough, but could have been done in a far more welcoming and imaginative way. Whole check-in staff were friendly and courteous, the room was drab and tired, although clean. However the toilet cistern dropped loudly all night, the WC spot lock didn't work, and the smaller than necessarily pokey plastic shower pod only offered scalding hot or cold water rather than anything in between. There was also no obvious socket in the room for bedside phone charging, or anywhere else (later staff said there was one on the desk behind the curtain- which seems a ludicrous place to hide it). So after a poor night's sleep (due to the dripping noise) and a crap shower, I mentioned these defects on check-out. Sadly the staff seemed dis-interested with a half-hearted apology and no offer of any real recourse or recompense besides a web address for feedback. Basically, crap and a serious let-down to the brand. I don't ask much of a hotel, but my basic minimum expectations are cleanliness and that everything should work. Ultimately, if that's not the case, I don't expect to pay.... Very poor show Ibis - yet your act together...

check in was good the room was very basic, decoration old and the carpet dirty staff were very friendly and helpful breakfast was disappointing on the first morning with no cooked egg and the food only just warm on the second morning it was better location was good for us. (this all depends on what you are visiting for) car parking was easy on site and at £5 for 24hrs extremely good value Overall we had a good sleep and given the location it was value for money. would we stay again probably not (there is another (Newer?) Ibis hotel within site of this one, so we will try that one next time.

The location was excellent for the O2 Arena. The accommodation was very basic but fine for 1 night. The floor by the bed could have done with a Hoover as there were bits of food dropped. Cost was very high for what you got. Paid extra for breakfast but had to wait ages for bacon by which time something else had run out and sausages were cold.

If you are in Birmingham for a night out , then this is ideally situated. It is around a 10 minute walk from New Street Railway Station & round the Corner from the O2 Academy . Staff very friendly , Room comfortable & warm & lovely breakfast in the morning

Ideal location for the O2 Academy - friendly reception - bed a little hard - toilet with poor flush - shower not working too well. Some posters say the area is unsafe - that is untrue, it is in well lit city location

Sadly I won't be staying at this hotel again. The decor is shabby and tired. The carpet in my room was stained. The tea tray lacked tea bags. I was given a ground floor room which as a woman travelling alone was not ideal. There was a car park right outside my room where someone was wheeling rubbish bins at 5.30am. Need I continue?

Good standard hotel, the only downside was the school opposite, noisy in the mornings. As a Gold member, I was offered a check in welcome drink, unlike Manchester Portland Street. Breakfast was hit or miss, but was a buffet English.

Hotel was as expected - basic but comfortable and was exactly what we required; a base to recuperate, sleep and get ready for the next day. The only slight criticism is that the reception staff seemed completely unaware that I'd checked on online the day before arrival or even that online check in existed. Apart from this, the staff were great. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate and, even better, it was served until midday at the weekend so no rush to get up. Overall, a good stay.

So upset that this hotel is part of the Accor group. It is in a terrible part of town, behind huge security fences. It is not safe to walk from the hotel to the center of town. so location is a no no..... The room was tiny and dirty. After reading all the reviews about dirty carpets we requested a room with no carpets so whilst we didn't have smelly carpets the room was still well below standard expected. I didn't even try the shower..... The room is motel style so windows and door open onto open passage. The occupant in the room next door was in her dressing gown at 2pm smoke hanging out of her mouth. Cigarette but littered the outside passage. What is the point of requesting non-smoking if there are people smoking right outside your open windows. We decided we could not stay here for 1 week - it just wasn't safe or clean and so we left and found other accommodation in a good area for a slightly higher price. I wish the pictures on the internet advertising this hotel displayed the real picture. Accor do you check out your hotels that are part of your chain. I suspect not. The only positive was the receptionist who called us a cab to take us to another hotel. The manager was no where to be seen and despite 3 emails to here has not responded in any way.

I stay at Ibis Hotels every couple of weeks, because they are of a constant good standard - but his Ibis Hotel feel way below that standard On arrival no room was ready ( at 630pm), the receptionist was more interested in selling me breakfast - even though it was it was already booked and paid for !!! Went to the room -- OMG like something out of the 1990s, except the numerous stains on the carpet, chips on the furniture and dirty marks in the sink etc Breakfast was the usual Ibis combinations, which I enjoy, but not if its cold !!! Won't stop me staying at Ibis Group Hotels already booked for next week

It's a hotel I wouldn't recommend, unless you're not too worried about the area. The entrance to the hotel is gated, and car parking is charged at £5 a day. The rooms are motel styled, but look disappointing. It's fairly small, the beds are just about comfortable. There's not a lot to see outside. The only saving grace is the breakfast, which was hot and special offer. The staff were reasonable, and always available.

This hotel is just grim. Like an American motel off of the 80's, but in no way cool. Dated, grubby, other people's hair on the bedside table. Holes in the curtains. Minging shower curtain. Stupidly noisy - the long glass windows mean your neighbours having a fag at 2am sounds like Piccadilly Circus. My dog's dribble is more powerful than the dire shower. And not even a tea bag in my room. Seriously - it may be cheap, but life is way too short to stay in a poor excuse for a hotel like this. Avoid.

Poor stay overall. Rooms had dated decor, rubbish power in the shower so water was just a dribble. Toilet flushing was also an issue. Breakfast was cold and then reheated in the microwave by staff. Bar area had no atmosphere. Good parking, also nice to have a private entrance to each room rather than in a corridor block. Good location also, but rooms and breakfast let the stay down. Probably wouldn't stay again if visiting the area.

Needs a refurb. Had to ask for more towels. No soap in dispenser over bath. One light not working in bathroom. Carpet very dirty. Very basic room. Friendly staff. Towels delivered when asked for. Wouldn't stay here again, even though it was cheaper than other hotels nearby.

we booked for one night to be as near to the O2 Academy as possible. great location with an easy walk into the city centre and parking available on site (chargeable). motel style rooms adequate for a short stay.
