This was a return trip for us having stayed here 3 years ago. We like the location of just over 2 hours from Calais and nice to have a walk round the old town. We asked for 2 rooms close together as travelled with daughter and was pleased to receive rooms with communicating doors.

This range of Ibis hotel has a price range in excess of the budget ones. One would hope, therefore, that standards would be higher to match the price. Paintwork was shoddy, toilet seat not fixed, leak stains, broken bannisters and no way of using blind in bedroom are just a few of the indications that this hotel is sub-standard. We used the restaurant where we were shown to a table and then promptly forgotten. 25 minutes after sitting down it was only a shout from us that reminded staff we were expecting to eat at some stage. Two days after this stay I stayed in another hotel from a different chain, that was 10 euros cheaper and FAR SUPERIOR. BEWARE OF FALLING INTO THE TRAP THAT IBIS IS A 'GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY' CHAIN - YOU CAN DO MUCH BETTER.

Stayed here on a return journey to UK from Greece. Very well situated, we had a lovely view from our room over countryside although it is very close to the main road. The grill restaurant is excellent but we found it strange that there was no English language menu available as there normally is in Accor group hotels. We resorted to Google and translated the items we were unsure of so it was ok. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the hotel is very clean and well kept. The only downside is the road as HGV's travel along it constantly even in the middle of the night which is very noisy. We would definitely stay here again.

What you would expect from a budget hotel. Generally the Ibis hotels in Italy are of a much higher standard than the French equivalents. In future I will stay in Novotel or Mercury hotels in France. They are much better value.

the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was very good and we enjoyed a hearty breakfast. the building itself could do with a makeover the curtains were well worn. However we enjoyed our stay and with the help of the staff managed to look round old Laon

Access To the hotel off the N2 bypass very easy, staff very friendly & helpful, rooms a bit dated, Ibis Kitchen dinner & breakfast very good. Plenty of parking on site, easy to get up to the ramparts & Abbey.

If you want to visit the historic town of Laon, this is not a very good place to stay as it is quite a long way into the centre and up very steep hills. The restaurant is quite acceptable for dinner as there is a good grill available. Breakfast is good with a decent choice of typical things to eat and drink.

We stayed at the Ibis Laon in June when it was very hot but the blower in the room kept the room quite cool.Food was good as usual and the staff attentive. It was very good value for money. The room was typical Ibis with a shower. It was situated a short distance from the old part of the town but it was easy to park the car and walk through the city gate.

This is the second year we have stayed in Laon on our way home from a skiing holiday. Last year we booked because it offers a restaurant service until 9pm. On arrival we were told the restaurant had closed early because of staffing problems. No one attempted to contact us with this information. We had one member of the group with a broken ankle and a three month old baby with us and at 9pm at night had to find somewhere to eat. This year, although the restaurant was open the staff ere less than co-operative. The only appropriate food available for the 16 month old child was on the room service menu and they refused to serve it in the restaurant. Although we try to communicate in French where possible the staff "claimed" not to understand English. Having stayed in Accor hotels for 30 years I found this astonishing. A claim is made by Accor that staff can communicates in English. Not the case here. I will be looking to stay elsewhere in future.

Arrived around 9.00pm on a Wednesday evening after travelling from Cannes. Car park was almost full. Given the 'key' for a ground floor room for the disabled although neither of us are disabled or require those facilities. The room was large and had the look and smell of a private room in a hospital. It was quite depressingly furnished with a standard double bed and single low bed. The wet room shower and toilet area was large but needed refurbishment. I had difficulty sleeping due to a rattling noise coming from the suspended metal ceiling in the shower area and the dreadful synthetic spongy pillow. I usually book Ibis hotels on a promotion deal but ended up paying full price, which for this quality of room is too much.

The rooms were clean but are showing their age as are the carpets in the corridors. Some window fittings were damaged. The hotel seems to have both smoking and non smokiing rooms, but the fumes from the smoking room spread through the non smoking corridors making it necessary to open the bedroom window to get clean air. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. Reasonable quality and price. My ratings are based on the room price when considering the facilities and services provided. Tge staff were very friendly and helpful.

Rooms and corridors very tired and in a real need of a refurb. Not what we expected off ACCOR, regardless of the brand. Younger staff more attentive but older manager appeared to be disinterested and overall service poor at our evening meal, quality of the meal average. However great position off the autoroute, would only use again if there were no other options to our travel plans.

We have stayed many times at this Ibis hotel and always find it a very good stopping off point on our drive back to the UK from Switzerland. The rooms are comfortable, the car park is secure with good lighting. The cuisine is good value and we enjoyed one of the set menus for dinner. Fuel services and a supermarket are nearby and within walking distance.

This Ibis is in need of upgrade and fell well short of other Ibis hotels I have stayed in recently. The bathroom was particularly unstatisfactory with cracked tiles and dirty grout and sealant. I arrived before 21:00 and immediaely went for dinner but was told they were about to cease service. Needless to say my dinner was rushed and the service poor.

Really excellent stay on our return trip have used for some years always high standards the staff work so very hard, are always friendly & helpful they always have a smile and seem to have a genuine care for guests

Overnight stay on the way back from Switzerland to Calais. The hotel was easy to find and has a large secure car park. Checkin was easy and the reception friendly. We had dinner in the hotel rather than walking into the old town, probably 10 mins but uphill. Dinner was extremely well cooked and served and very good value. Staff pleasant and efficient, good standard room and a quiet sleep. VG all-round.

Decor tired. Bathroom tired. Corridors and carpets tired. Not what we expect from Ibis. Bits peeling off the wall, tile grout cracked, shower curtain well used, etcetera etcetera etcetera. Why do I need to go on to get to 200. I have said it all.

Room bigger than averige. Free parking car. Internet free but does not work well. Restaurant at the hotel is good, it is alawys full of people. Location a little bit far from city center. As most Ibis hotels, only offers líquid soap, that may causes slippery.

Bed very comfortable and the food at dinner was superb for the cost. The decorating in the corridors need upgrading. For a non-french speaking guest it was refreshing that all staff we encountered were English speakers.

Whilst staying at the Ibis in Laon, France, I made two more bookings in person, because I needed a disabled room for my son and his partner, and a family room for myself, my wife and my son's little girls. I asked for a confirmation but only received an email referring to my conversation with the receptionist, an inconclusive reference to a booking, and no rates or mention of the types of room. As an loyalty card holder I phoned customer services and after holding for more than ten minutes was just told to phone the hotel from England. If they had dealt with it properly in the first place I wouldn't have needed to phone the 'so called' Customer Services.
