I had paid Ibis for a one night's stay when I made a booking in January 2017. The booking was for June 18. The day before arrival Ibis sent me an email inviting me to check in online. I did this, entering a lot of personal info, including my credit card number that was supposed to help with incidentals. Well, Inis (Accor) immediately charged my card 60 euros. They should not do that! I did not have any incidental charges other than a 3 euro city tax on the room. Think I will get 57 euros refunded? Desk clerk did not know. She just kept telling me I could pay the 3 euros. Aargh!
The hotel is clean rooms are little bit small but still comfortable. The staff were very helpful. The location is marvelous, it is only walking distance from the down town. I did not try the kitchen. The air condition was not working and I have to open the windows at night.
This was my first visit to Erfurt and chose the Ibis as it is located in the central old town. I was enchanted by this delightful city and the people were friendly and courteous everywhere. The Ibis was to the usual high standard and parking is available underground.
We booked a Disabled room for my wife and I. We were show to a room with a single bed and another on the floor which slid out from underneath. I can't understand how this room was thought by Ibis to be suitable. With the lower bed pulled out there was no room to get around it and there is no way a disabled person could get in and out of either bed! The bathroom seemed to have the usual disabled facilities but we didn't stay in that room. The alternative we were offered was a "normal" double room or a large one (I think it was a disabled one) for Euro20 extra. Needless to say we chose the normal room and managed to cope for the night. The room we were initially shown was a SINGLE room for disabled people, Ibis, NOT a double!! Other than that the hotel was well placed and other facilities were fine. For that reason I have marked it as a 3. TBH I was a little disappointed as other German Ibis hotels have been fine.
