We have stayed at the Ibis Budget hotel in St Quentin several times & this is a really modern, spotless 2 star hotel which I would thoroughly recommend. I was going to re-book it as a one night stopover, but noted that the 3 star Ibis Basilique was advertised at the same price- so for a change I booked the Basilique. The Basilique is a stones throw from the main square, which is an advantage to the budget hotel (which is approx 8 mins walk- but not a problem at all), but the parking is only free in the on-street parking area right opposite from 1900 to 0830 hours, whereas there is free on street parking outside the budget (or a hotel paying car park onsite). The Basilique is perfectly adequate, if a little dated inside (eg the corridors & carpets are a little drab, & the bathroom washbasin an unusual 1980's style bluey-turquoise. The rooms are functional & a reasonable size, but the room was very hot. The aircon did not seem to cool the room even turned down to 10 degrees c.The bar area & breakfast area were pleasant & breakfast was good. However, we still much prefer the more modern & stylish Ibis Budget with its free onroad parking, modern fittings & airy feel- but please note it does not have a bar- but there are plenty in town to choose from. The old part of the town is very attractive & so the place is well worth visiting as a stop over. In summary, the Budget is a better hotel than the Basilique.
