we always enjoy staying at the ibis it is handy for all our needs the room was very hot so we had to open the window and it was very noisey out side which is a Friday night so its to be expected also the tv needed tuning in and the remote control did not tune it in
Very pleasant stay, I am a returning customer at least twice a year. The only thing I found a bit annoying this time was the removal of the front desk. When it came to paying it got a bit chaotic and there were a few customer in a cue waiting to settle the bill.
Just five minutes from Birmingham New Street, this Ibis was set in a lively location of Chinatown while a festival was in progress, but the hubbub never encroached on my peace and quiet - in fact I popped out a couple of time to watch the live bhangra and bands playing. The hotel itself is spacious and slick with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Any queries I had were resolved quickly and cheerfully. It was an extremely hot weekend and unfortunately the unit in my room wasn't quite up to the task of keeping me cool so my sleep quality suffered, but everything else was very good. A small note: I'd like the bath towels to be bigger so they wrap all the way around and soya or nut milk/veggie/vegan alternatives out as a matter of course at breakfast but it was great to have that facility until noon, and the noon check-out.
Great location with close proximity to shops, eateries and public transport (New Street station and bus stops). Nice bright clean room/bathroom. Staff were helpful. Road outside could be slightly noisy in the wee hours of the morning.
You know what you get with Ibis. Good value, comfortable rooms, clean. The virtual reception if efficient, the bar was pretty good, and breakfast served until late. Very convenient for Birmingham New Street & Moor Street.
Hotel was very clean, staff we're very friendly and helpful. Our light was not working in our bedroom and my sister went to report it, as soon as my sister got back to our room a member of staff came to fix it. As our light could not be fixed there gave us a complimentary drink as a good will gesture which we thought was very nice of them.
Ibis always offer value for money accommodation in a convenient location. Our stay was very comfortable, however, the room was in need of some modernisation (especially the bathroom) in comparison with other Ibis locations.
Came for Birmingham pride. Perfect location for hurst street. Not even a 2 minute walk. Only problem was the noise levels we're insane as the Arcadian is right outside the window (clubs open until early hours). Luckily I can sleep through anything and wasn't bothered by this. Air conditioning doesn't make much of a difference so wear as little as possible during the night in the summer months as room gets very stuffy during the day if window hasn't been left open. I was sweating!!! Hotel was extremely clean and service was good. I will be coming back to this hotel next year for sure.
Room was spotless, xservice was excellent with all staff very helpful and friendly. Booking in and booking out was made so easy. While at the training venue, hot and cold drinks were available. Close to all amenities. Will definitely stay again if in Birmingham
The room was clean and the bathroom was good but once in bed I found a tear in the quilt cover. As a vegetarian I found the breakfast disappointing - I'd have liked some fruit and tomatoes and mushrooms to eat with the egg.
Room not serviced, promised a reply and still nothing. Despite a call to Accor I have not had a reply from the management. The claim that if they can't fix your problem in 15 minutes your room is free. After 24 hours and two showers with damp towels I expected a call at least. Breakfast is great.
The hotel was very convenient for theatre, restaurants and shopping. Within walking distance of the central railway station, central Birmingham and other attractions. Would definitely use this hotel again, perfect for short stays.
Staff dressed like they're going to the gym. Rooms ok for one but cramped for two. Bathroom hardly big enough for a child. And beware the location. Noisy until 3 in the morning. Breakfast disappointing.
The staff at this hotel were helpful, the room too hot, with no air conditioning. The bed was comfortable, but the one size pillow too high with two, too low with one. Drinks in the bar expensive, but in a good area with lots of restaurants.
we were not told of the renovations taking place, so 8 o'clock bank holiday morning we were woken by workmen shouting down the corridors then the drilling started which last all day, we went to this hotel to get away for a few days and to rest, it was impossible !!!
It will be very nice once refurbished completely. I had booked a large room as I was attending a trade show then would have meetings in the city / would work from hotel, so also booked a late check out. The room I was given was at the end of a corridor where I would have to by-pass workmen/worksheets etc. Not suitable. I asked for an alternative, only to be told that the hotel was full. Once I explained I had booked a late check out the receptionist checked with the manager and I was allocated a different, although much smaller room, on the other side of the hotel, where no construction work / refurb was going on. I thought, wrongly, that I would be offered some sort of compensation, (free breakfast or price reduction as clearly the room was not up to the same standard. Although the location is very good for the train station and connections to the NEC I will probably not be using this Accor hotel again. I really feel that hotels should warn you when refurb work is going on. In this case it did not matter too much, but nevertheless the experience was not up to the usual "Accor" standard.
We arrived during a downpour- not one person on street from New St station could direct us to hotel. Eventually a taxi driver googled the address for us. 30 mins after arriving at New St station we arrived on foot at hotel.
Very good location, ideal for Birmingham Hippodrome and the restaurants of Chinatown. Rooms adequate for overnight stay.breakfast okay, very reasonably priced. Bullring shopping close by, and also New street station.
Whilst I was very impressed with the hotel itself, the staff, service and breakfast, I was disappointed with the location. My room overlooked the piazza at the rear of the hotel, with a thriving nightlife. Although the room was triple-glazed, this was insufficient to cut out the sound of the loud music and thumping bass. Even with earplugs, I was unable to get to sleep until the volume was reduced after 2am - and this was on a weeknight!
Have stayed here many times and find it very suited for my needs as a travelling alone guest. I would certainly recommend this venue. Rooms are a little small for couples I would imagine but I like the place for my own trips when I'm alone.
