to get round the problem downgraded room from a family one too a double and recieved a drinks voucher, but didnt us it as it only covered a soft drink or beer, not a glass of wine. we needed some where secure to place items, so exepted downgrade as we had no time to sit rou nd and wait. on reflection compensation was very poor......
Very impressed with our stay. Staff very friendly, hotel was in an ideal location, bed very comfortable & we had a lovely breakfast with an impressive choice. Will definitely stay at an Ibis hotel again.
We stayed overnight whilst attending the pantomime at Birmingham Hippodrome. The rooms were very spacious and clean. As usual staff were very pleasant and attentive. The breakfast was to its usual high standard and again an attentive staff. Overall a very good experience.
Ideal position easy to get though from station and in a ideal location for entertainment and shopping also for eating and drinking within walking distance for most things hotel was a good budget accommodation and breakfast was enjoyable
This hotel is great, it is closed to the China town, Location is near to the New Street Station A lot of bars around and convenient for shopping too. Hotel service is quick and staff are nice, Breakfast is good too.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is clean. But the main problem is that the pillows are too hard and uncomfortable. ibis as a chain hotel should resolve this because it really affect sleeping quality whichever ibis I stayed at. If this continues it would affect my choice of stay. If this is resolve, i'd be very happy to continue to stay at ibis in Birmingham and wherever I go.
I’m an Accor member and use the hotel group on a regular basis for both business and vacation throughout the world. I booked this hotel at the last minute as the accommodation I was supposed to be staying at ( booked via another travel company)cancelled my booking at the last minute. We had a fantastic weekend 2 rooms for 2 nights very late Che kin and late. Heck out. Fabulous weekend, Great locaAtion clean and comfortable room and great staff
The hotel is located very conveniently next to the New Street Station, the large shopping centers and the Gay Village. The rooms are extremely small and the desk is very small. The closet is also quite small. I would spend a bit more for a standard sized room for my next visit at a different property.
No reception desk so arriving, checking in, getting key was not a great experience. Basic room. The staff had silly smart phones which kept telling them that I hadn't booked breakfast, which I had. A's a result in the morning I wasn't offered a hot drink at breakfast
really friendly staff, comfortably basic hotel, tasty food, decent menu, great serving hours. I also took part in a corporate training event during my middle day stay which was catered for and accommodated by the hotel very well. Thank you Ibis.
There is no reception desk with the result that the bar staff have to double as receptionists as well. This is not satisfactory. I had to wait in a queue for some time to get my room keys (I had paid in advance). There was nowhere to sit down while waiting. Once I reached a receptionist, he was pleasant and efficient, but when I had a question later on, they were all busy serving drinks.
The hotel met my needs, however because of the location near the night clubs I was concerned to see two/three police officers in the doorway of the hotel at 1.00 am. I do not know the reason why they were there, but I do not people that I had popped in for a cup of coffee.
A very good hotel with model staff. At the end of the stay, there were problems with the taxi I ordered via the hotel. Pavel and Anita(?) were exemplary in trying to and fixing the problem-thank you so much. Jo room 319
This Hotel should be renamed HOTEL IBIS BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME as it is across the road from the Theatre but a long way from New St Station especially if you have a lot of luggage!!!!!!! Also at 4:00am - 6:00am it is chaos outside with Taxis beeping (illegally) and viaing to pick up noisy rowdy clubbers, I will never stay there again........
Needed to stay in Birmingham New St between train connections so selected this as, given the hotel name has "Birmingham New St" in the title, assumed it was actually at the station... Its only 7 mins walk, if you know where you are going, but after getting off a long train at 11 pm it was unwelcome discovery! Hotel was clean and functional, as might be expected for Ibis, with friendly staff!
We stayed here for a short city break for 3 nights. The hotel was comfy, the breakfast was superb and all the staff were really friendly and really helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were on the small side but it was a very good price and really good central location for seeing things or eating out. So all of this deserves 5* - however the hotel seems to be located above a bar / club - we were on the 2nd floor and the noise still came up through the floor until the early hours. If you want to party yourself it's fine but if you want to go to sleep by midnight or before then you have a problem - the music certainly went on well into the early hours of the morning. I imagine there would be some rooms where this wouldn't be a problem - but we were at the end of a corridor and it certainly was....
there was a good stay in the hotel, very good staff, very helpful, breakfast OK, nothing extra, but good. the only thing that is not acceptable is the individual club just near the hotel, that is working till the deep night. I will probably not choose this hotel next time in Birmingham.
I spent a weekend in Birmingham and I liked it a lot! I didn't know the city when I arrived, so I spent my time asking for directions. When I finally did find the hotel, it turned out to be an Ibis Budget hotel and I had to go back to the one I had booked. At the end, all went well. The staff is very nice and helpful, and I even caught myself speaking Spanish (shout out to Rubén). When you do go to Birmingham, I recommend you this hotel. You won't be disappointed!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. As I had checked in online, my key was waiting. The room was clean. As I have stayed at Ibis hotels before, I was familiar with the room and bathroom. There is coffee and tea ready to use. The hotel is in the Chinese Quarter, a few minutes walk from the markets and the rear entrance to Debenhams. The breakfast was good and my porridge arrived fairly quickly. The buffet offerings were good; you can have as much or little as your appetite demands. There are a number of teas on offer as well as other drinks.
Friendly staff, very welcoming. Hotel was clean enough, food was much better than other Ibis Hotels I've visited. Room was quiet and clean. Bed was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. Only issue was in the morning, after breakfast, when I couldn't get back into my room and had to come down to reception again. They reactivated my key, which solved the problem. All in all, a decent stay for a reasonable price, within walking distance of New Street Station and surrounded by very tempting Chinese restaurants!
