The front desk people was fantastic. Kind and fast. The shower was terrible. Hot, cold, hot, cold, extra hot. All without my interference. Must be black sorcery or lack of engineering. Pillows are not that good, but the front desk provided better ones upon request.
This is a good option located just few meter from metro 16-18 that goes to central station. Room are a bit old already, but it's confortable. Breakfast is good and not so expensive, so overall it's a nice option. Low points: toilet very small and very expensive parking that doesn't allow you to remove the car during your stay without paying for it.
I did not find any information about the parking on the website and sent request to hotel to retrieve some pieces of information. I have been answered with WRONG and incomplete prices and I ended up paying 22€ instead of 14€ almost twice the price for one overnight stay!!
The hotel was very quiet in the bedroom areas. There was a very good breakfast and the staff were very pleasant. It is a good budget hotel which is well designed and run. The bar area was pleasant and we liked having a drink there each evening.
This is a well situated hotel, close to a major junction on the Cologne underground, and reasonably accessible to the main train station (5 stops on the underground) as well as the main shopping district (2 stops away). The rooms were ready for us, when we arrived, and a problem with one of the toilet flushes, once reported, was dealt with efficiently. Although our rooms backed on to the underground line and a busy road, they were adequately sound proofed. Certainly I slept well on both nights I stayed there. Breakfast was to the usual IBIS standard, which I regard as good. However, I do have a couple of gripes about the bureaucracy. After I had checked in on line, I received two e-mails in relation to the two rooms, for which I had already paid in advance. Each e-mail referred to the fact that our request for the authorisation of 30 Euros had been registered with my bank. It was expressed in unclear English and I had to ask at reception. for an explanation as to what it meant - which was that a charge of 2 * 30 Euros had been lodged against my credit card limit, in case I incurred any additional expenditure. I think that the drafting of this e-mail, which I assume is sent out after every on line check in, needs to be much clearer. Although I had paid in advance for our two rooms and two breakfasts, I nevertheless received five e-mails relating to our stay: two enclosed interim invoices relating to the cost of each room and breakfast; two enclosed final invoices relating to the cost of each room and breakfast; and the last one enclosed a composite invoice covering the two rooms and two breakfasts. Having previously stayed at the IBIS hotel in Essen, I cannot recall such a deluge of e-mails there and I wonder if all these e-mails were really necessary, given that we had paid in advance and, when leaving, handed our keys to one of the managers, who confirmed that we had nothing more to pay. Other than this, the IBIS Cologne Centrum struck me as an efficiently run hotel, with usually two members of staff at the reception desk to deal with guests. I would stay there again - but please do something about the bureaucracy! I have reflected my comments in the grading for Service,
I travel each year in Cologne for business. This Ibis is the best hotel: value for money, central, public transportation in front, underground parking. Nice staff. This year they are renovating some rooms so it could be a little noisy and unpleasant. Hope next year when I shall come back to find it perefct!
poor quality of rooms , no leg space, water overflows from bath to living room. not value for money nor recommend to any friends. it is not worth to pay such a huge amount for this small no value add room.
found standard of iBis during my stay for instance service, room cleanliness and location. but also found "overcharge" rate during my period. understand that is your "high season" but try to maintain your standard rate as iBis.
We arrived early but the Desk service was excellent with fluent English spoken. We were accommodated quickly. Room was a little small, but had a good shower, and a comfortable bed.. Breakfast very good with a variety of options.
We arrived by car and found it easy to park outside to unload. After the warm and helpful welcome at reception we moved the car in the hotel's underground secure car park. We arrived before 3pm so there was plenty of room. It is 14 euros per day. Having booked an upgraded room ( though it was still small compared to,say, a Premier Inn ) and being an Accor Club member we were able to take our bags to our room straight away. On the seventh floor we were able to see the Cathedral across the city. The breakfasts were good - the usual cold meats and cheese were on offer but also bacon and eggs, as well as cereals, pastries ( criossants were superb) yoghurts and so on. We did not eat anything else here during our stay though the coffees were fine. Location is not quite as I expected ( maybe I misread the hotel details ) but the tram was only across the road and it took you ( for 1 euro 90 cents ) up to four stops which was to the city and to the cathedral. We had problems with the ticket machine taking coins so had to use credit card. Overall we were happy with the room ( clean and modern ) food and location so would stay here again.
Like most hotels there is a backside with a less interesting view and we had this. As we were laid back holiday visitors then we spend a little longer in the room. At least the higher floor offer some compensation,
very small room & not clean , very small bathroom , breakfast is good , not near enough from city center , if you think that you can walk to city center no problem but when you come back with many issues you will feel tired
I was in Cologne for 10 days at the Fibo Exhibition. The staff from the hotel was awesome, always willing to help. Some of them spoke more than two languages, they spoke german, spanish, english, italian, etc. i did not spend much time at the hotel but my sleep quality the few hours I slept was awesome!!! I loved the help requesting a taxi driver the day before my departure... the hotel fixed everything for me and the taxi driver was on time next day to take me to the airport.
Ibis Cologne Centrum Hotel offers benefits to travelers. Location. The hotel is near the Barbarossaplatz U-Bahn station which is 10 minutes away by tram to the Dom/Hauptbahnhof (Cathedral/Central Train Station). From the Barbarossaplatz station, one can easily get to the Koln/Bonn airport. From the hotel, one can easily walk to the Habsburgerring, Hohenzollernring, and Hohenstaufenring for shopping or restaurants. Service. The hotel provided prompt check-in and check-out which is invaluable when you need to catch a flight or train departure. The daily room cleaning was thorough and complete. The front desk provided a map, gave recommendations on nearby coffee shops, and offered to store my luggage for an early check-put. The hotel provided recommendations on places to visit, places for people watching, and suggestions for sightseeing tours. Advice. The front desk provided information on boat trips, bus routes, and nearby destinations to visit. Value. This hotel charges a fair price.one can easily go for a Hauptbahnhof or will end at Koln-Bonn airport. I think that this massive granite takes time to take home to evaluate your spouse compatibility.
The hotel is good and clean. The breakfast is great and the staff very helpful. However, the rooms are extremely small. In the bathroom, you can hardly move. The balance of price with quality is rather fine.
The hotel is located near the city center with shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel staff was friendly. The room itself wasn't big but it was nice and clean and perfect for our short stay in the city.
they make mistake stuff, ı need to talk to your management to explain the maistake they did , I tried to eeach the manager but not possible , I shared it with the stuff and they suggested me to talk to manager
Lobby and restaurant very nice, breakfast also. The rooms need refurbishment. During our 3 night stay it took us a lot of time queuing just to exchange and pay for the parking vouchers every day. Every morning we needed to wait in line with people checking out, as we were hurrying to get to the trade show. A ridiculous system.
Stayed 2 nights. Not in a great area but hotel standard Ibis although rooms/bathroom are as small as any I have stayed in. On arrival my bin had not been emptied from previous guest then my room was not cleaned nor bed made next day either.
An excellent stay over the new year period. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was excellent value for money. The breakfast was good quality and plentiful with a wide range of food on offer with fresh coffee.
