The thing about these brands is that you sort of now what you're going to get. In this case, the staff were excellent, but the standard of building construction left something to be desired. Stayed for a couple of nights to see the sight of Vienne. Great location - able to walk everywhere, including Romain-en-Gal etc.. There are loads of good restuarants, brasseries, cafes, bars etc. within a 5 minute walk, so getting sustenance is easy. They don't have parking, but there is a public car park across the street which is free at night & not too expensive during the day. In our case we opted to park in the multi-storey & reasonably secure station car park which is just a few minutes walk further on. It cost about E18 for nearly 3 days parking. The only downside was very poor internal soundproofing. We could hear almost everything said, snored & sexted by each neighbour. In one case, I was tempted to go round, knock on his door & advise him to dump the woman, but my better half's wisdom prevailed. The poor guy was on the road trying to make a living & all he was getting from his 'partner' was whingeing about how hard life was for her whilst waiting for her finger nails to dry. She didn't wok & didn't seem to do anythig to support him in his efforts. I should have done it, shouldn't I! Ironically, although we were right above a main road, there we heard virtually no traffic noise, so the window units are pretty good.

City centre hotel, convenient for the restaurants and the Station, they have a limited amount of garage parking (for a small charge). We used it to visit Lyon by train, which we thought was easier than driving and trying to park.

Our first stay at a former Etap now Ibis Budget so we guessed it would sit somewhere below regular Ibis offerings. Part of a 3 week meander Calais to Provence and we are so glad that we picked the city of Vienne for a 2 night stop. Our arrival was a very friendly and helpful experience and this impression of all staff did not diminish. Keypad room entry no problem, the room sub-spartan but scrupulously clean. No air-con and no ventilateurs available. Room pricing was little different from the regular Ibis at the other end of Vienne, but we thought the Etap location was the better, it tips you straight on to Vienne's principal tree-lined cafe and restaurant boulevard, at the end of which you can walk the river promenade to the cathedral, then pick up all the main Roman antiquities on your stroll back. The breakfast area was ultra-compact but the buffet content was value for money. This was overall a happy experience, obviously coloured by the lovely city, no doubt a different review if we'd had 2 days of rain and needed more recourse to the room. The markings relate only to the hotel provision. If I had to include the remote underground garage, they would fall : by the time I had located the 5 dedicated Etap slots, the lights had gone out. Possibly a temporary fault : on departure they remained on.

Good location budget hotel in the core of Vienne with some problems: during our stay the hotel air conditioning was not working and the room window was broken so that it could not be fully closed nor locked. Tiny mold smelling shower. Otherwise rather acceptable place for a short budget stay.

Centrally located, near the train station and inexpensive car park. Basic, but good amenities. Would definitely visit again. Perfect base for exploring the Northern Rhone region! You might want to go to a local boulangerie or café for breakfast, but that adds to the fun!
