The simple problem ith this hotel is that the rooms are far too small, they are single rooms, with abolt in bathroom that you need to have the door open to ash properly. There have been cosmetic changes to the reception areas but inot distract from the fact ,the room dooo hits the bed, two people can not stand up in the room at the same time. Noise comes in from an a/c on the external wall or the local restaurant emptying it's bottles in a facility in hotel car park.
Have been here many times over the last 10 years became frustrated by the small rooms and tiny bathrooms so moved to another option within the group. This visit being midweek, last minute was price driven. Little had changed apart from the parking fee. Rooms remain small but functional and clean. They are in effect single rooms
I would always recommend Ibis for an overnight stay, simply because I get everything I need for a great price. Furnishings are basic, bed is comfortable, walk in shower and a tv. What else would I need, after all I usually only use the room for sleeping in.
Clean, basic, very small room situated close to shops, restaurants, old city.beautiful river and park walks twenty minutes walk.Staff friendly efficient .A kettle and tea coffee facilities would be a bonus.
Excellent localization for visiting the historic places around the center of the city. Competent and friendly staff. I made a mistake with my reservation and the manager at the front office understood it and gave it a comprehensive and human solution.
The first room which we were offered smelt like an old ashtray. It should not be offered to guests until it is thoroughly cleaned and deodorised. This is probably impossible from experience, I only hope that the offender was fined enough for polluting the hotel. The second room which was allocated to us had a faulty locking mechanism, 4 "keys" later it finally worked. The room was however very clean and the bed comfortable.
Stayed at this hotel just for one night on a trip further south. After a few shenanigans trying to find it - I would recommend looking at google street view or similar rather than just trusting to your satnav - we were able to park easily in the car park behind the hotel. Places can't be reserved, so you just need to stop at the barrier and pop in and ask for a a card to display in your windscreen if you can see there is space. 8 euros was a fair price in my view, and it was handy to have the car right there, but the hotel de ville car park is literally around the corner and that's underground, if you feel that would be more secure. Very warm welcome from the delightful receptionist who has excellent English. As expected, our room was small, but very clean, and perfectly fine for an overnight stay. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent and really good value. No hot food except for eggs which you can boil yourself to your taste, but a good selection of cheese, meat, fruit, bread, and some local produce as well which was a nice touch. Acceptable coffee from a machine, take-away cups available as well. Poitiers itself we weren't that struck on. The area around the hotel was fine, and there's loads of choice of places to eat around there if you didn't want to wander, but we like to have a look around in the town (one of the reasons why we stop in towns rather than just at hotels by the motorway) and it didn't really feel all that safe once you ventured away from the main drag. French relatives tell us there's an expression for Poitiers that's the equivalent of our sent to Coventry.
Room was a bit smaller than usual . Hotel was very close to the man pedestrian street with loads of restaurants , which was good. Also had to park overnight in the car park for hotel de ville but was only 1 euro !
Right in the middle of the old town, hard to get to with various streets restricted access and one way. Small private car park good and secure but may not always get in. Room fine, clean tidy and helpful staff.
Have been here so many times, knew the rooms were tiny so paid extra for a larger room. Extra was filled with an armchair that doubled as a single bed but as the room was at an angle the balance had been taken off the bathroom. The toilet you couldn't sit on as your knees het the door frame and sink, the sink was 10inches from the door so to wash your face you had to open the door with your backside in the bedroom. The shower door fittings were corroded. The car park was shared with a restaurant refuse skip for late night loading and the industrial size aircon untis ran all night so one had to close the window for silence and stale air
Room was OK but the shower could not be used due to a shower drain that did not function properly. According to the girl at the reception desk all rooms in the hotel suffered from the same problem. We had to firmly insist on offering us another room. Suprisingly after changing rooms, the drain in the second room functioned properly! So the staff did not meet the '15-minutes problem solving guarantee' that is supplied to customers. Too bad they showed so little empathy! And yes, we are fluent in French so there was no such thing as a language barrier.
Very small rooms with a bathroom even smaller. It was impossible to clean your teeth without the door being open. The shower was unusable for people over 14 stone. I would defiantly not recommend this hotel.
Room quality and standard similar to other IBIS hotel. Great bed and shower. Bonus is free car park behind the hotel. Short 2 min walk to main square and sight seeing in Poitiers old town. Request for a room facing street and in higher floor for view of town roofs and natural light.
just what i says on the tin! this is a great budget hotel in the centre of poitiers, the rooms maybe a little small but you get what you pay for. very clean, good breakfast and extremely helpful staff. thoroughly recomended
Great location, comfy bed, standard Ibis really. Excellent stop over. Loved Poitier, great big town square for kids to play. Staff were very helpful, would recommend to a friend travelling down to south of France.
We stopped going to this hotel due to the general drab feeling particularly in the common area. A refurbishment has worked well and the ground floor with new bar works well. But sadly the tiny bedrooms will always disappoint and the external noise can not be avoided if you want fresh air.
Clean, safe and nice with friendly and helpful staff, nice no car needed neighbourhood with lots of shops and restaurants. I was already there last year and would definitively stay there again. I recommand this hotel situated in the center of Poitiers.
we appreciate the hotel's position very much, but the room is really too small, it means there are too many rooms in one floor, of course it makes no privacy at all. In the early morning and during the night, we could not even sleep soundly, its very pity! but the staff is very professional and nice!
We were en route south from the UK and this was an ideal hotel in which to break the journey. Everything was fine (remember, we weren't going for 5 star!). The staff were very friendly and the place was clean.
The hotel is in the city center, just meters away from the hotel de villa, where there are so many restaurants and a huge place where one can seat and enjoy the city if Poitiers. It is clean and the personnel is friendly and helpful.
