Excellent Ibis hotel which is a short and equal distant walk away from Hamburg Central Station and the City centre. The hotel is larger than it looks, newly renovated to a very high standard and has a large bar and, best of all, extensive breakfast area. The staff are very accommodating, the range of food and drink is very good also.
The aircondition didn't work which ment that temperature in the room made it impossible to sleep. The A/C unit was running, but there was no cooling. If the window was left open the traffic noise was unbearable.
The location is outstanding, only five minute walk from the Hamburg-HBF (main train station) to ibis Hotel next to Outer Alster Lake. ibis hotel is across the street from the five-star, Hotel Atlantic Kempinski, so you are in good company. The newest landmark in Hamburg, the Elbphilarmonie concert hall, built in the historical area known as Speicherstadt. There was a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and harbor. “You have not seen Hamburg unless you have seen it from the Elbphilarmonie.” My only problem was with the internet connection. The connectivity was poor and even with the help of the Hotel Manager, the service did not improve.
This was our second stay at this Ibis hotel. Being originally from Hamburg and knowing the city, I can't think of a safer and better location of a hotel in this price range. Across the street is the Aussen-Alster with a boat club bar/restaurant, within a 15 minute walk you're at the "Alex" at the Binnen-Alster. Rooms, breakfast and overall service are wonderful. One minor issue though: they still struggle with their free and paid WiFi service which can make your stay a real pain if you depend on it.
I believe it was quite expensive relative to its quality. there is no fridge, the TV's audio system did not work. there was nobody to help with the luggage while there were about 6 stairs to reach the lift. I should not ask about internet connection. the receptionist is supposed to teach me how to connect. it was only one night so good in general. But I had stayed there before two and a half years ago and the service was much better.
Perfectly located near the main train station with Metro, buses, regional and national train lines. Distance is easy by walk even with suitcases. The hotel is clean, nice room Ibis styled. Friendly and nice staff, i forgot something at the lounge and was returned by staff the next day. Not to be forgotten the hotel is about 10 minutes walk to major shopping area,
Very nice hotel, great location, near city center, and near the Main Train station, with a great breakfast, various fruits, bread, waffle machine, and the staff in very polite and friendly. A great stay in Hamburg.
Hotel was convenient as only 5 minute walk from the railway station. Rooms were surprisingly large and well furnished. Only moan is they were too hot. Need more control over temperature. Breakfast was included in price, which was good (special deal). Only moan was slight lack of choice but not unusual for continental hotel. Early breakfast available from 4am but very limited. Staff were extremely pleasant.
For its category, an excellent choice. Friendly and helpful staff. 24 hour bar/cafe. Quiet rooms. Clean, spacious, well-equipped. Everything was perfect. We booked a room for two singles and were given essentially two rooms opened up together, with double beds - fantastic.
As regular guests at Ibis Alster, we appreciate the availability, central location, reasonable pricing, clean and clear localities, fresh breakfast arrangements, plus the professional and service-minded staff. The existence of a good garage is an asset. It is all good value for money - even more so if the lift (singular!) would work a bit swifter...
We spent a couple of nights in this hotel, a six minute walk from Hamburg's train station and very close to the Alster. It has a nice feel, a kind of urban chic meets industrial grunge, in a nice way. The staff were lovely. The only slight downside is a certain amount of train noise in the early hours of the morning, which woke me up several times.
The Hotel is reasonably situated (about 8 minute walk) in relation to the Hamburg Main Station and it's excellent train/U Bahn services. I had booked a room described as a having a large room "looking out onto the Alster river" What I did not expect was a room looking out onto a side street with the only view of the "river" (lake!!) was by standing on tip toe and craning my neck to look down the side street to just glimpse the lake. Neither could the room be classed as "large". Upon complaining to reception we were offered, the next day, another "small" room one floor down, but four doors closer to the Lake, admittedly with a deeper window and not quite so much neck craning involved. I think this description is very misleading. The Breakfast each day was identical and lacked imagination.. We visited the Bar one night to use the "complimentary" drinks voucher we were given on checking in and were served by the two most anti-social ladies I have ever had the misfortune to come across in their capacity. The one who appeared to be the senior of the was abrupt and most rude and spoke to us as if we were in School, not 70+ year old adults.. Suffice to say we never graced that part of this establishment again. The Hotel is a two star (depends where you look) and should in my opinion remain so until the standard of basic service is improved. The only saving grace of the 6 night stay was that the housekeeping standard was superb every day and the staff doing these duties were friendly, very pleasant and very efficient. I have stayed in many Accor Hotels throughout Europe and this currently rates as the bottom of my list
It's the 4th Ibis hotel that I'm visiting in Europe. As always, the decoration that I like so much is reflected at Ibis Hamburg as well. Not sure if the location is at the center but in 10 min walk we arrive to the Christmas markets easily. It is less then 5 min walk from the train station which is great. The breakfast is very good and even better then other Ibis hotels which I've visited. I definitely will visit again!
Stayed here for 3 nights in mid November. Excellent location only a short walk from main train station (HBF) and from there we were near restaurants bars and the train was an easy way to go shopping, sightseeing etc. Rooms were adequate and clean, the only gripe being our room was facing the train tracks and thus constant trains upped the noise levels but got used to it. All in all a great hotel in fine location-would recommend and use again.
The room was very hot and the windows had to be opened in order to get some air (no way to use the airco in the winter). This caused a huge noise problem, as the room was at the street side, as well as close to the main avenue alongside the aussen Alster.
Situated Rights in the center of Hamburg. Small room, lots of walking to get from entrance to room. Only onde dyne, Nice bath. Good Price. Would we stay there Again ? Yes maybe we would AS it was cheap, quiete, clean and spot om in Hamburg
when i booked this hotel it was because it had a restaurant, but when we got there it did not do evening meals.i mean after spending all day to get there the last thing you need to do is go out and find a restaurant.also when i booked the double room which is for two why did i have to pay 60euros extra for my husband.i did phone them up after i booked and said it was for 2people.
I was veryn pleased. The place is central, close to the central station and Alster, main streets and walking distance to most of the important places.Sleep quality is as good as all the other Ibis which I am regularly staying
Polite and helpful staff, very good breakfast, proximity to the river Alster. The room, despite the description, was far from spacious and the premium internet was very problematic. The advertised view to Alster was a side view, but, according to the hotel's orientation it was all we could get.
Very nice hotel, ideally situated near to the main railway system. Rooms lovely and clean with adequate facilities in them. Bathroom nice and large with powerful shower. Lounge and breakfast area very nicely designed for ease and comfort for the customers. This hotel is ideally situated close to all restaurants for eating out and theatres.
