The air condition system did not work and the room was very well heated, so I had a tropical experience in Hamburg in november, Otherwise the room was ok, 100 or more German tv channels (don´t you have any foreign guests?). I had a problem when at the check in: The price was not the same as I booked on accorhotels website.. They would not give me the 40 euro discount (used my reward points). I do not blame the hotel, it is accor hotel system that does not work properly!!!
We stayed two nights - usual Ibis size room but really clean and quiet. Location excellent - 3 minute walk to main train station and 7 minute walk to ‘Lange Reihe’ with a selection of Restaurants to please anyone’s preference - italian, french, asian, german etc. Staff very pleasant and efficient - good selection at breakfast.
The triple bedroom was ok and offered good value for money, though we missed a third toothbrush. mug.But the service needs to be improved. We were three ladies with suitcases and were given a room on the fifth floor while the elevator was not working. They could have told us during check-in that the elevator was out of order (and maybe could have offered to bring the suitcases upstairs or give us a room on the first floor). Moreover, we had booked a late check-out, but when we wanted to re-enter the room in the afternoon, our key cards did not work. At the reception, we were informed that the validity of the key cards is not extended automatically, but has to be arranged for manually. Why did they not tell us upfront that we need to pass by the reception during the day to fix this? Instead, we had already walked up all the way up to our room on the 5th floor to discover that we could not get in and had to go back to the reception. All these small, but quite annoying inconveniences make it that, suming up, we were not overly pleased with our stay at this hotel. Service would be much better if the personnel was just a little more attentive.
We stayed here in October when the weather was very warm - between 20 and 25 degrees. We were amazed to find out that there was no air conditioning in the room as it was "winter" according to the reception staff who were not able to help and the hotel was not prepared to put the air conditioning on again. This meant that it was unbearably hot at night (we had to have the window closed due to traffic noise) and we didn't sleep at all well. We have also complained to Accor Hotels and have not received any reply.
The trip to Hamburg was very interesting, tourist points, culinary, shopping, museums, besides to know next town like Lubeck, city with edifications of the medieval time and great tourist points. I recommend everyone
We had one of The Alster view Rooms. It was with new interior, spatious, clean and nice :-) But be aware that no room has direct Alster view - it’s from the side. The location is nice. Staff is nothing special, the will help you if you ask, but didn’t feel that they were really nice and warm. But cleaning staff is thorough. Breakfast is good - but little details could make it better. Fx the juicepressing situation - it’s not fit for hotel use, use electrical like other ibis hotels. The heat during the night from the automatic airsystem was too hot, I hope they will fix that. Heard more guests talk about that. Little details could make it better. But would defenitly stay again:-) or recommend.
Positives: excellent location; 5 minute walk to Hauptbahnof Hamburg. Negatives: problem with air con only blowing out warm air had to open window over train tracks. Rude receptionist was no help and given room by the lift (hotel not full) and the room was very tired with marks on the carpet. Checked out two days early and, in fairness, given a refund.
Value for money, parking in celler is very good, and its a fair price. Good locaition - close to everything. Many people want to take breakfast at the same time saturday - thats crowded and you shall wait for more bread etc.
the hotel was very good in nearly all aspects the only problem was that the rooms were very hot, we could not put the air con on has it had been set to winter mode. breakfast was very nice and the staff very friendly, service at the bar was very good. all in all an enjoyable time was had.
Excellent Ibis hotel which is a short and equal distant walk away from Hamburg Central Station and the City centre. The hotel is larger than it looks, newly renovated to a very high standard and has a large bar and, best of all, extensive breakfast area. The staff are very accommodating, the range of food and drink is very good also.
The aircondition didn't work which ment that temperature in the room made it impossible to sleep. The A/C unit was running, but there was no cooling. If the window was left open the traffic noise was unbearable.
The location is outstanding, only five minute walk from the Hamburg-HBF (main train station) to ibis Hotel next to Outer Alster Lake. ibis hotel is across the street from the five-star, Hotel Atlantic Kempinski, so you are in good company. The newest landmark in Hamburg, the Elbphilarmonie concert hall, built in the historical area known as Speicherstadt. There was a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and harbor. “You have not seen Hamburg unless you have seen it from the Elbphilarmonie.” My only problem was with the internet connection. The connectivity was poor and even with the help of the Hotel Manager, the service did not improve.
This was our second stay at this Ibis hotel. Being originally from Hamburg and knowing the city, I can't think of a safer and better location of a hotel in this price range. Across the street is the Aussen-Alster with a boat club bar/restaurant, within a 15 minute walk you're at the "Alex" at the Binnen-Alster. Rooms, breakfast and overall service are wonderful. One minor issue though: they still struggle with their free and paid WiFi service which can make your stay a real pain if you depend on it.
I believe it was quite expensive relative to its quality. there is no fridge, the TV's audio system did not work. there was nobody to help with the luggage while there were about 6 stairs to reach the lift. I should not ask about internet connection. the receptionist is supposed to teach me how to connect. it was only one night so good in general. But I had stayed there before two and a half years ago and the service was much better.
Perfectly located near the main train station with Metro, buses, regional and national train lines. Distance is easy by walk even with suitcases. The hotel is clean, nice room Ibis styled. Friendly and nice staff, i forgot something at the lounge and was returned by staff the next day. Not to be forgotten the hotel is about 10 minutes walk to major shopping area,
Very nice hotel, great location, near city center, and near the Main Train station, with a great breakfast, various fruits, bread, waffle machine, and the staff in very polite and friendly. A great stay in Hamburg.
Hotel was convenient as only 5 minute walk from the railway station. Rooms were surprisingly large and well furnished. Only moan is they were too hot. Need more control over temperature. Breakfast was included in price, which was good (special deal). Only moan was slight lack of choice but not unusual for continental hotel. Early breakfast available from 4am but very limited. Staff were extremely pleasant.
For its category, an excellent choice. Friendly and helpful staff. 24 hour bar/cafe. Quiet rooms. Clean, spacious, well-equipped. Everything was perfect. We booked a room for two singles and were given essentially two rooms opened up together, with double beds - fantastic.
As regular guests at Ibis Alster, we appreciate the availability, central location, reasonable pricing, clean and clear localities, fresh breakfast arrangements, plus the professional and service-minded staff. The existence of a good garage is an asset. It is all good value for money - even more so if the lift (singular!) would work a bit swifter...
We spent a couple of nights in this hotel, a six minute walk from Hamburg's train station and very close to the Alster. It has a nice feel, a kind of urban chic meets industrial grunge, in a nice way. The staff were lovely. The only slight downside is a certain amount of train noise in the early hours of the morning, which woke me up several times.
