Spent a long weekend in Carcassone. Rooms are a little small, staff is friendly and that helps a lot. Breakfast is sufficient - I do like my sausages so they were missed. Eating out in the evening has to be done early at this time of year. Restaurants close early! Once, your in your feed. Otherwise it's a microwaved evening meal at the hotel. Having said all that, I would stay again because of the friendly staff. From the floorplans it seems as though 1st floor rooms maybe slightly bigger.

A very convenient property to walk up to the lower gate of the cite over the pont. The room is small but at a very basic price. The breakfast is very good and the location is excellent. Parking is available at the understanding opposite the hotel. Not far to walk to the market square for great dinners

Ideal for an overnight stopover travelling to and from Spain. Very near to La Cité and underground car park across the road. Best restaurant is "La Passage", excellent Tapas! In the summer the canal boat ride is very pleasant.

Two night stay to visit the walled city. We were made very welcome by the man on reception who showed us the secure parking area for our motorcycle and (being a biker himself) allocated us a room that overlooked the bike, although that could have been coincidental! He also gave good recommendations for places to eat and visit based on our short time available.

Nice staff and clean hotel.friendly welcome with good English spoken.only real critique the shower could do with updating.old tiles and curtain not screen.no restaurant in house but plenty in town. Secure parking a plus

The location was fantastic. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. The bathroom was very small. The shower took 10 mins to heat up and the shower head kept slipping down the pole, this made washing hair very difficult. The aircon did not work, when we used the control on the wall for the aircon nothing happened in our room however it did sound like it turned on the aircon in the next room.

Beware - the advertising says "located downtown" and this is misleading, i's not 'downtown' the old city, it's downtown the 'new' city, so don't think you can stroll out of the hotel straight in to the Old City (as implied and a number of disgruntled guests also thought). Then the blub claims "The medieval city and Canal du Midi are a short stroll from the hotel". It is not a short stroll, in fact the opposite side to the City's main entrance and you certainly would not want to walk back in the dark after a nice meal if you did get to the City. Worse - the room was not as advertised (1) no extra bed for children (2) tiny bathroom (a large person would have had to use the toilet with the door open to fit in) (3) we did not use the shower because it was filthy with black grime between the tiles. There were no snacks available as advertised, bad because the nearest restaurants were closed and people were amazed we wanted to eat on a Sunday.

The hotel is situated in a shabby part of town about 15 mins walk from the old city. Excellent underground carpark next to hotel. Plenty of touristy restaurants in the old city but very few in easy walking distance of the hotel, and these were mediocre.

old rooms very small need updating, the view from the room was like a war zone, not up to Ibis standard, the car parking was near impossible for a large car it took 30 minutes to get out with assisstance from 2 residents, we were not offered a refund on the car park, we will not stay there again.

When we arrived at reception the person was on the telephone. She thrust out her hand several times expecting a piece of paper perhaps? We said we would wait until she had finished her call which she did within two or three minutes or so. We gave our name and she asked for our credit card. We said we wanted to pay for that night. After a look of disgust and exasperation she replied we had a booking for three nights and it was necessary to have the card's details. We replied that we had three separate bookings of one night each therefore we wanted to pay for that night only as we may not be staying any longer. We like to book separate nights as we have a small aircraft and are weather dependant. At that we received another look of disgust! We have to say we have never had such a cold welcome anywhere before and particularly at Ibis Budget hotels where we have found the staff very friendly particularly at La Rochelle. We found the internet very bad indeed. We kept being cut off and can only think it is to encourage people to pay the premium service. Later that evening we cancelled the following two bookings and found out that her name was Victoria. We will certainly not return to the Carcassonne Ibis centre hotel. It is such a shame we shall in future keep to Ibis Budget hotels. Sally & Gordon

We only stayed one night but that was enough. Not friendly staff and the room and especially the bathroom were tired and needed attention. Could have been the quality of the materials used in fit outs but this was worst we had come across.

This hotel was overpriced for the facilities it provided. Although it was a short walk to the Mediaval City, the hotel did not meet the normal standard of an Ibis. It had very small bedrooms and an even smaller shower room, which was almost unusable. The rooms were also in need of refurbishment. In addition, the breakfast area was very cramped, especially when hosting a coach party! We have stayed in Ibis hotels throughout France and elsewhere in the world and this is without doubt the worst value for money we have experienced. Its location means that the room charges are higher than normal but it seems that very little investment has been made in upgrading the hotel. On a positive note the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I stayed for one night in this hotel. It was very noisy (looked like the walls between the rooms and the hallway were made of cartonbord) and thus hard to sleep, the rooms were very small (even compared to the other 3-star Ibis-hotels) and they looked more like those you can find at youth-hostels, and the bathroom was tiny. Price-quality: totally wrong, too expensive for what you get. Good things: friendly staff and okay breakfast. If you go to visit the old town of Carcassonne and don't care about having a sub-standard hotel: find yourself a cheaper one! If you want a stay with a good night rest: look for another hotel, there must be some better in this town. Distance to the old medieval town is okay for any normal tourist, distance to the railway station is 1km

Good location, excellent value, easy access to Old City and to city centre.Tee area is quite so good sleep quality. Staff were helpful and friendly. This is an excellent base going or returning from skiing in the Pyrenees or Andorra.

The hotel is overpriced for what it is. The rooms are too small more like a Ibis Budget than a Ibis. The bathroom is tiny. I could touch the ceiling without jumping. The surroundings are not nice. I like Ibis, but not this hotel.

3

Not up to the usual standard in the case of location to the main town but well placed for access to the fort and castle and the restaurants. The service was "civil" but not outstanding and they ran out of food for breakfast. The building was old and the rooms were small but very clean but it just about the only place in town to stay so can't complain really. They gave us the breakfast for free when we complained.

Not up to Ibis standards noisy and really small bathroom always find ibis to be really quite but so noisy dont know why no double glazing staff were really friendly though and breakfast was good near old city

Hotel is in a great location, very central but it needs updating. There was a lot of door slamming during the night as doors do not have slow closers. Also the breakfast wasn't up to Ibis' usual high standard.

The hotel is easy to find and stopping outside should be OK to unload your bags if you are driving. Outside, it looked like it could do with a good clean or re-paint. The undercover parking turns out to be a public (you pay) car park which is closed on Sunday (when we arrived). The nice receptionist was very helpful explaining where we could park for free a fairly short walk away. Check in was easy and we were soon up to our (air conditioned) room. This was the most disappointing part of the hotel. It was quite small and very dated decor. However, it was clean and functional. The bathroom was not great and was very small. The shower worked OK (loose shower head holder) but was quite unpleasant with a shower curtain that wanted to cling to you... If you were bigger than average, sitting on the toilet might be quite a challenge too! The location was fine, breakfast was good and the staff were nice, but the room was below average even for a budget hotel. 2 nights was enough for us!

Smaller room/bathroom than normal Ibis. Very warm friendly welcome from staff. Medieval city 10 mins stroll away, Bastide 5 mins stroll away. Pay parking available in hotel or across from hotel in underground secure car park. 2 mins walk to river, 15 mins walk to canal du midi & railway station. Lots of walks, black mountains 15-20 mins drive away. Would definitely stay @ this hotel again 😊
