On our tour of France on a motorcycle, we decided to start at Biarritz and make our way north to Calais over two weeks. After Limoges our next port of call was Montlucon. The hotel is located on the banks of the river and just a cocks stride from the centre of the town, which has a lovely old town area as well as the more modern shopping area. The receptionist was extremely helpful and we had a very comfortable stay.
we have stayed here before, and always enjoyed. Its close to the main route we use heading for the Languedoc. and in a fairly pleasant location with excellent parking for about 7€ ... Rooms are good, bed was excellent this trip. showers not so good, adequate but no power, and being open tend to leave the floor soaked. restaurant, evening meal hit the mark for me, good well cooked and not fussy, very tasty ... BUT.. we notified the staff regarding my wifes Coeliac disease and the necessity for good handling techniques to keep from being adversely affected. Cook suggested one meal, and it was great, but there was no offer at breakfast. We stayed in the Ibis in Andorra 3 years ago and they had a great and pleasant service in place to handle Coeliac, so wonder why there has been no knowledge transfer across the group. overall - good, and given the chance we will return.
This hotel advertises parking, in fact the parking was in a bay outside the hotel but on a busy road. Not the secure or private parking I had expected. Having a car full of luggage this made for a worrying stop-over. We have had our car broken into twice before, so secure parking is a priority. the breakfast at the hotel was very good, and the lady on duty In the breakfast room very helpful.
Beautiful location right on the river with fountain, easy access from autoroute in & out. Hotel a little tired looking decorwise, comfortable stay, restaurant basic but good.Car parking was extra cost & no concessions by the hotel
We have now started to use this hotel as the half way stop on our way home, it is centrally located in a small town. We ask for a room looking at the river very pleasant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We eat in the restaurant as we are usually to tired to go out and the food was very good and excellent value we would recommend fpr an over night stay .
This is an older hotel but the restaurant and bar have a good feeling, food is good and we had dinner which was also good it was not a great choice but it is out of season. This hotel again for a platinum card holder offers a beer or water as a welcome dring as we do not drink beer but live in France where the best wines come from I do not understand why they do not offer wine.
Good location, and very helpful staff as we arrived late! Clean and tidy rooms as you would expect. The location was perfect to visit the medieval city or the town centre. We would go back again, which we are planning to do!
Ibis is a good brand but standards do vary, this hotel was quite adequate but we have satyaed at better Ibis Hotels. This visit was marred slightly by A/C not working and the showere drain partially blocked but the Ibis bed was up to its usual standard. Montlucon is a nice town to stay overnight.
Stayed for convenience only, room allocated smelled strongly of damp and in poor decorative condition, replacement room not much better - at least it didn't smell as bad. Staff had no time for pleasantries, generally grim and will not be visiting again.
Relatively easy to find. Parking under hotel. Reasonable room, but a bit small. Side room. Front rooms directly onto main road and very noisy traffic. Nearby restaurant la Pinte d'Etain good with very obliging chef/owner who provided us with a lovely vegetarian meal. Hotel restaurant smelt of fried food.
We were rather disappointed, being hitherto impressed with our stays at other Ibis Hotels,at the character and dinginess of this one.It seems that the Company need to refurbish and brighten up the place. It is well located has the facilities but not as bright and lively as others we have used. The Staff were helpful, and efficient and the breakfast was good but the restaurant was very dated as were the rooms.
disabled access ramp closed for repair, no alternative so had to use roped off ramp anyway, very dissappointed that restaurant was closed, with no prior warning when making booking, even though it appears this is the one time of year when this regularly happens. room very average but adequate, staff very pleasant, and standards acceptable.
The whole 3rd floor we were on was very hot the whole time as the air conditioning didn't seem to be working properly, you could feel the temperature difference when you came down to the first floor. Having to pay for parking is unacceptable. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke very good english
