I cannot understand how a hotel can still be using a separate toilet with no washing facilities! One has to come through and close 3 ! doors to reach a wash basin after use of the toilet! Is this still allowed in France today?

Cognac centre is within 5 minutes walk. Visiting the distilleries is a pleasant morning's occupation. There is also a good choice of restaurants within easy walking distance from the hotel. Our only grouse is the extra cost for breakfast.

smell of 'fresh' paint in halls and room . Yes , hotels need to paint from time to time , alas my timing was poor but hotel could have served its clients by advising in advance . Yes they may lose some business short term and that risk was more important to management than considering impact on customers. Terrible for then trying to experience aromas ,and flavours of Cognac. the hotel did a disservice to the Cognac industry.

Usual Ibis standard, clean, comfortable no fuss. You know what to expect and that is what you get. Always good value and good service. Nothing fancy and ideal for 2 or 3 nights. Location of this hotel is excellent.

Ibis is a budget brand so one has to take that into account. This hotel,is,simple but good value. The room was comfortable and clean. A full walk in shower and separate toilet were more than we expected.

This was a very faded hotel with poor insulation. At midnight the night staff appeared to begin cleaning & hoovering the floor in the entrance area & being a couple of rooms from the lobby made for a disruptive sleep! Next morning on booking out, the noise was referred to & the fellow behind the desk thought it was amusing but unusual! The room - Number 7 - was not particularly clean, was beside the hotel's air conditioning unit which also mad for a difficult night's sleep. It was certainly the least pleasant Ibis that we have stayed in. Perhaps, as we gained a Summer Special price I have not offered the lowest grading.

Arrived late and asked about food (expecting to be directed in to town) but this was prepared quickly, cheerfully and deliciously. Room comfortable, wifi quick, parking plentiful and close...a good experience.and one I will repeat next business trip.

The hotel is located convenient to Martell, and the staff were most helpful with the bicycle. Easy to find and easy to continue from. Room was conventional Ibis red room, and features were all there. Pleasant staff.

The hotel is perfectly placed near the centre of the town so we were able to walk to the old town and also to the shopping area. It has no restaurant but we were directed to some good restaurants. Private parking is always good. Our only minor moan is that we wanted to try a Cognac in the bar and spirits are not available. The nearby bar "Le Chai" had a good range available though so we went there.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the IBIS in Cognac. The staff were friendly and the h otel was clean. The room was quiet and got a good nights sleep. The breakfast was great and there was everything one could want.

Spent five days in Cognac visiting the Cognac houses. The Ibis was a very comfortable and perfect location for us. We could walk to most of the houses and being pre-season meant that we had small tours. There is a bakery and supermarche within a block. The desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. When we did have a car, there was lots of free parking across the street. The SNCF station is not as close as you think, so you'll want a taxi if you have luggage. The tour at the Domaine Remy Martin was the best and should be done on a day that you have a car. All of the tours were different and the buildings are a part of the charm. Now I know a lot more about the Cognac that I have been enjoying for many years. We also went to Saintes and were there for the Sunday market -- Really nice. Want to spend more time in this town and this area.

Great location in Cognac, easy walk to Cognac houses and town centre. Rooms a bit tatty and slight sewage smell in toilet although bed very comfortable and I had a nice walk-in shower. Biggest problem was that air conditioning didn't work at all so room very hot.
