Good hotel, friendly staff, clean room, all round good service, Handy hotel for central Southampton, docks and business, close to the docks for cruise lines etc. worst part is completing a review with so many words
Excellent location. friendly staff. Room okay for this type of hotel. Bathroom ok also although plug mechanism in basin not working. Breakfast buffet good in parts but some competitors are better. £7.00 a night add on for car parking. Bar poor, essentially part of the reception area. very small and the seating area really feels like part of the reception - I took my drink to my room. I had dinner in the adjoining Novotel (very good).
Notices From street below car parking charged even for 2nights stay breakfast was not honored even when booking was made with breakfast included will not stay at this hotel again it is close to lots of shopping and cruise terminal
Clean Room, welcoming staff, reasonable breakfast. Greeted and checked in quickly by reception staff. Room was clean and well prepared. (towels could have been bigger) decent shower but could have been better flow. Dinner was ok. I had Singapore noodles with chicken. Service was efficient.
Disappointed with the lack of the normally smiling faces at reception. Breakfast was quite poor. We have stayed here many time before and this time it was quite expensive and not up to the standards we had become to expect. Shame because we like Ibis and dont really want to shop around.
For many years have always booked an Accor hotel where possible, both for business and leisure., both in the UK, Europe, Asia and Africa. The big benefit is that you know the standard of the hotel will be good when booking and to date I have not been disappointed.
It was My 50th birthday on 8th of June 2017 and I went to see the Sister Act the musical at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton as a treat to myself. I decided to make a night of it and stay at the Ibis Hotel. I have stayed at the Ibis Hotel before , its a lovely hotel and is within walking distance to the theatre and Southampton Central Rail Station. Check in was quick, the reception staff were polite and friendly and I was given a complementary Breakfast and two complementary drinks from the bar for my birthday. On arriving back to the hotel after the show I had a soft drink from the bar, the barman was polite and friendly and I didn't have to wait to be served. A few minutes later I decided to have a bowl of soup from the bar menu, I was served from a different member of staff who I'm afraid to say didn't seem to be very interested in his job. I wasn't greeted with a "hello" or "Hi, how are you tonight" or a Please or Thankyou. When the soup arrived at my table I didn't get a knife to spread the butter on my roll so I had to ask for one then I had to wait as the barman was more interested in his papaperwork. I also didn't get a napkin so I had to use my own tissue. I would go as far to say he was a little rude! The room was lovely but when I first went in there was a bit of an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom but after opening the windows the smell soon went, as for the bed it felt like I was sleeping on a cloud, so, so comfortable. The breakfast was superb, all you can eat buffet style breakfast, unfortunately I have oral cancer so was limited to scrambled egg as am unable to chew food. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and I look forward to my next stay!
Stayed here many times before, rooms and beds are very comfortable, Prices are competitive for this type of hotel. Close to city centre and the docks if you need them. Friendly staff, food available if you need it and a nice comfortable bar area. Will definitely stay again
Good hotel price is very good breakfast very basic and never changes. Close enough to the town room quite warm had to sleep with windows open which meant quite noisy from road traffic other than that ok hotel you pay a cheaper price and get a cheaper product over all but fine for the price you pay
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very nice, clean, tidy and the windows opened which is not always the case in many hotels. The restaurant is very good if you want a lunch time snack.
Easy to park and a nice room the evening meal and breakfast was fine, I also like the online booking in service. All together it was an enjoyable stay and very convenient hotel to stay in as it is very close to the cruise terminal.
Our favourite place to stay when we are too tired to travel back to London after football at St Mary's. Great rooms for a great price and friendly welcome. The bar and restaurant staff are always charming.
The toilet I my room would not flysheet throughout my stay. When I mentioned it at reception a guy, with French accent, didnthe seem to grasp the issue. No apology, no suggestions to rectify/compensate.
Close to train station and good shopping and restaurants!! Easy walking to old town and new town!! Food pricey but elevator available and small but adequate rooms!! West Quay shopping and new Eatery close by!!
Hotel comfortable, room great, cooked breakfast was poor, dinner good. Cooked breakfast consisted of poor quality sausages & streaky bacon instead of back bacon,no choice of eggs, beans only. Breakfast was only tepid instead of hot.
Have used this hotel on a number of occasions in the last 12 months or so. Good central location for the city, shops, ferry and cruise terminals. Rooms always very clean. Breakfast is good quality and offers variety. Helpful staff. A generally good experience which sadly is always let down every time by the fact that it is impossible for a guest to control the room temperature - whether it's summer or winter.
The Ibis is a great location for central Southampton - everything is within walking distance, bars, cafes, shops, restaurants, historic city walls, city centre parkland to wander. The rooms are spacious (more so than the recently refurbished rooms in central Portsmouth where the bathroom is incredible small). The New Forest and other areas are easily accessible to visit.
Pretty standard room, though the bathroom has a very high sided bath with a fixed shower head, rather than a shower cubicle. The staff however were the worst i have encored across the Accor brand, in every department. To start, at check in, despite being an Accor gold member, I was told I couldn't check in early, the girl on the desk hadn't noticed I was gold. I asked for a quiet room, but was given the one directly opposite the lift and the cleaners storage room. The lift wasn't too noisy, but the cleaners made a terrible racket, slamming doors, crashing about, and shouting to each other constantly right outside the door, from 8-30 in the morning. The bar area was full of very noisy 18/19 year olds, who weren't staying at the hotel, but seemed very good friends with the barman, who was happily making them drinks, it made the area rather uncomfortable for the various guests who were made to feel as if we were intruding on their private party. My elderly mother was twice asked to pay for breakfast despite it being included in the reservation, and we then had to get refunds, meanwhile a group of labourers paid for 1 breakfast and then 4 of them proceeded to take what they wanted. On the day of check out, I wanted a late check out, and as Accor gold this is complimentary, but the same reception girl who made the error on check in tried to charge me for it, she wasn't even aware that it should be free. All of the staff seemed far more interested in chatting each other up rather than making sure the guests were being looked after. Most unusual for what is normally a very professional brand. The hotel doesnt have a convenience store particularly close, so worth getting water/snacks before you arrive.
Clean room Dinner was served up quickly and staff were helpful There was a fire alarm in the morning but it was not dealt with very well and no body knew what was happening .We tried to complain to the front desk but were brushed off by the deputy Manageress!
IBIS Southampton is in a great central location close to transport links and West Quay shopping Mall. Rooms are clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is pretty good, maybe a bit limited on choice, but quality of food is good. Great value for money for a city centre hotel.
