It's the 2nd time I stay at the Ibis opposite Luxembourg Airport. The stay and service fulfilled my expectations. Staff friendly and service-minded. Although the hotel is right at the airport it is well insulated against sound so the airport was not disturbing at all. It is a bit out of town, but with a car it is easy to get around from the hotel.
The main reasons for staying in this red Ibis must be price (considering hotel prices are high in Luxembourg) and vicinity of the airport with the bonus of the Ibis airport shuttle. However, don't expect the standard of recently updated Ibis hotels. The room was clean and in good condition. The bathroom in below average condition. The bar is badly outdated and the restaurant so dull it puts you off, even for breakfast. Eat at the airport (fantastic Oberweiss Café/bakery/pâtisserie), but beware... the airport restaurant closes at 9 PM.
Location was extremely good and no noise from very busy road and airport strangely enough. Comfortable but dinner was expensive good selection for breakfast though. Travelling get from Spain to Germany makes this an ideal stop over point.
Would have been nice to have had a kettle in room to make a hot drink I arrived late and did not want to have a drink in bar. Also room excessively hot and could not open a window to cool it down and get some fresh air - safety rules gone mad!
Everything is fine, but try to get up at 4:00 in the morning to catch your plane and find out there is no hot water in the bathroom. A cold (we're in December) shower wakes you up indeed, but this is not my idea of comfort. Everything else was fine. I have stayed in this hotel quite a few times, I was always satisfied. The people are friendly and efficient.
Chose hotel due to proximity to LUX airport, which is literally across the street. To be honest, expectations were low, but was most pleasantly surprised at a perfectly appointed, clean and professional hotel. Room was just what was needed - comfortable and tidy. Staff were very attentive and dinner was not only very easy on-site but delicious. Would certainly stay again if travel warranted it.
My stay and the quality of the hotel was as expected and I would have passed an unreserved recommendation. What went wrong? Internet. Today you expect reliable internet anywhere you are. Well this IBIS offered internet free of charge or as advertised better quality at a price of circa €10/day. Well I could receive emails but not send them. I tried to get help and spent almost 2 hours at the reception but the issue was not sorted. I tried to upgrade but the site rejected my credit cards. An option to debit the room was not offered. I was unable to send emails for two days, though I could receive them. I cannot return to this hotel because not being able to send emails is not an option to me.
I stay in this hotelan average of 70 nights per year due to business and I am usually quite satisfied with it: the rooms and bathrooms are very clean, furniture is well maintained, the beds are extremely comfortable and breakfast is one of the best quality and variety I have found in an Ibis hotel. But this time I was given prbably the worst room in the hotel (102) : the room was next to the elevator and very noisy as it was also above the common area without any door to mitigate the noise, the bed made also noise when getting up and the room itself was smaller than the oned I regularly stay at. If it had not been for this experience, I would have rated the hotel higher as I consider it a good value altogether and a good option to stay in Luxembourg if you have a car and wosh to stay in a comfortable 3 stars hotel.
Stayed many times but the restaurant is slowly going down hill. Gave up trying to get a dessert course, and had to leave my table and ask for the bill having waited 30 mins plus. Reception is often busy (I think this comes from being at the airport) staff generally very good. As an Accor preferred guest my profile preferences ask of a room on a high floor away from the lifts, never works at this hotel which is inconvenient, but not the end of the world.
The online check-in and check-out process is very efficient and time-saving. The room was comfortable and spacious enough for the purpose of being able to be well rested before my flight home the next morning. The morning breakfast buffet was a good start to the morning.
Nowadays, your guests are completely dependent on well-functioning wifi. It is not enough fwith 2 Mbit / s if you have to share it with many other guests. Please correct this as soon as possible. An appropriate level to aim for is 100 Mbit / s. Otherwise, the hotel was well-functioning, although it was not possible to get in touch with by phone. Tried three times without result.
As a Silver Member of Accor Club and frequent visitor of Ibis Hotels in Europe I am shocked with the experience in Ibis Luxembourg Airport. I have been bitten to pieces by fleas or similar insects, nearly a week after I am still suffering the consequences of approximately 30 bites all over the body. Do have photos of the bites which I could send as proof, but they are obviously not for public eyes on the web. When reported at reception at my check out the receptionist simply took notice and informed by phone the housekeeping. There was no apologies, not to mention that help was never offered.
impolite staff, French receptionist hardly speaking English. they lied that they fix every complain related to the room in 15 minutes. the wifi internet was not working and I called 2 times receptionist to ask to fix it and they replied this is not covered. I was reading carefully and there was not any exemption from the room services on that printed add. I kept it to show it to whoever may concern...I had a double booking made by mistake and the Manager on duty Patricia FLEMING was insulted and harassed me telling that I am dump because I did 2 reservation on the same dates by mistake. I told that the booking.com was done by the secretary and I wanted to modify for a letter date.
The room we stayed in was good - nothing extraordinary about it but it was roomy and even had a bunk bed by the door in case you have guests or kids. However, no matter how far down we turned the A/C, it would not come on. I believe it was centrally controlled and it was definitely not that cool. Also, you can't open the windows because of a Luxembourg law that prohibits it so people don't jump out of the window!
The location is a reasonable walk from the airport, but the shuttle bus runs back and forth, ideal if you have heavy bags. There is a daily 8:10am bus run to the Kirchberg plateau (EU and Court of Justice) and a pickup at about 17:30. Taxis to Kirchberg are about 30Euros or more. Consider getting a hire car from the airport if making more than one trip to Kirchberg or the city. I paid only 85Euros for a nice car, and after my business was concluded, I was able to explore the city by car and be a tourist.
It was a terrible experience. Check in went smoothly. But in the check out the official, named Richard, was very rude, arrogant and mainly racist! Yes, racist. Aggressively tore a sheet of paper in front of us and lied to us! We Ordered the airport shuttle service, free of charge by the hotel, but he called a taxi, said it would be free, but arriving at the airport they charged us the trip! Never in my life i'll stay again in a Ibis. I hated it and I'm going to make a complaint at the European Consumer Centre.
I stayed in very many hotels due to business but I never experienced that it is possible to check in, register two claims (two times the same: the room key was not working anymore after the brekfast) and check-out without hearing any word from the receptionists. Poor and unfriendly service. Room was as expected for an ibis hotel, however, there were some spots of sauce on the bathroom door. Clearly visible, thus should have been recognized and eliminated by cleaning staff.
My one complaint is that personal items, totalling about 150 pounds were missing when I got home. I had used them during my one night stay & all I did afterwards was get the bus home, so I either forgot them or they were taken from my luggage while I was at breakfast. I phoned the hotel but nothing had been handed in. It is, of course, possible that the cleaner missed them & the next guest pocketed them. The hotel does say that it does not accept responsibility for items in the rooms as there is a customer safe, but these items were a shaver & a travel alarm clock, so not really valuables. Apart from that, it was the usual Ibis good quality budget...ideal for an overnight stay. The free shuttle to/from the airport was particularly good & I only had to wait 10 minutes for it to arrive. I'd certainly stay again, but I'd keep my luggage locked when I went out & triple check I'd packed everything
We checked in and asked for a room with disabled facilities. we were given a large family room with a shoewer over a bath, impossible for a disabled person to bath or shower. It would have been better if they had jusy been honest and saidthere was none available. The bathroom was big enough for a wheelchair which seemed the only concession. The bed was like concrete.
I just walked out of the airport terminal and kept on going until I reached the hotel. There was a shuttle bus available, but I didn't bother. The hotel was basic, but good value and clean. It served my purposes very adequately.
