Stay here three or four times a year and have never been let down. The staff are excellent and very attentive...they can't do enough to help. The hotel is well located near to the centre of Douai. No way would we stay anywhere else when in the area.
Excellent staff who do all that they can to make your stay a pleasant one. The hotel is ideally located for an overnight or for a few days visiting the region. Easy access for some very good traditional restaurants also.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The old building has been beautifully renovated. The room was small but comfortable, calm and very clean and the window could be opened for fresh air. The breakfast room is particularly stylish - and the breakfast was excellent. We were very well looked after, thank you. Only downside was that the heated up food we ordered in the evening - there is a bar but no restaurant - was small and poor value, but everything else was very good.
I know Ibis rooms are smallish, but I have never felt so cramped so avoid room 209 [which was off the usual corridor of rooms]. I was unable to pass by my wife without a squeeze. Smaller bathroom than normal. Nowhere to open the suitcase except on the bed. We asked for another room, but the hotel was unable to provide. This is the first time I have felt seriously dissapointed with Ibis - and the first time I have stayed in an Ibis in France (after good experiences in Spain, Brazil and Portugal). We complained to the duty staff the following day who showed due concern and promised to inform management.
We have just had 5 nights at this hotel visiting friends and the museums at Albert and Thiepval as well as Vimy Ridge and local CWGC cemeteries to find the graves of lost relatives. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and attentive and promptly responded to all of our requests despite the fact that we speak no French beyond very basics. They also recommended local restaurants which turned out to be very good and also friendly. We cannot praise the hotel enough, pleasant, clean, friendly and warm.
Hotel is well placed near the centre of town on a nice square which has a Saturday market. Neighbouring brasserie had local oysters on offer 13.5Euros a dozen. Parking was available at the hotel but limited. No problems however. Highly recommended.
Very difficult to get to. Very expensive low quality breakfast. I was given a room under the roof and had to bend down to move around so I asked to change the room. Internet service very poor and devious. Corridors full of smoke. Very small TV screen and rooms were not heated and had no choice for heating.
I return twice a year for reunion with old friends, and more recently have stayed each time at Ibis Centre because of its central position and good value. I am recognised and welcomed. I am now very "senior" (I first came to Douai in 1954), so the lift and rooms for smokers are a great attraction. The breakfast good value, as are the snack meals available in the Bar.
Nice hotel in the centre of Douai. Historical building. Free parking space. Good breakfast. Hotel is located in a nice area, walking distance to the centre Khadissa has given us an excellent service. Many thanks for that. Kind regard,
